I found the dwarfs to be boring, interesting yes but boring. Boring mostly because since it was the only "snow" faction and it had some nice potential to have cool snow creatures, which it did not...

To me the Haven is the only faction that has the right to have a "boring" mostly human lineup, it fits them and we always need humans(actually no humans would be interesting )

In a way dwarfs are to similar to humans so they need to have more beasts and creatures to make them differ. If another faction is to be based on a single race like Haven it should be Orcs if anything, but no other race should be like Haven.

Agreed! But they shouldnt overcrowd their unit tiers.

Tops 3 dwarf units, the rest should be creatures.

I don't get why people hate so much main-race creatures. They are supposed to be an army, not some pokémon team, with 5 or 6 monsters and 2 or 1 humanoid(s). I think 3~4 humanoids is ok. The rest can be monsters of whatever flavor suits the faction. Of course academy can't have 4 types of mage without getting repetitive (but they could use some mage-knight or something, but it's not necessary, imo). And necropolis is a bunch of weirds, skeleton, zombie, ghost, vampire, lich, people don't complain, even if they're humanoid, all of them are monsters.

But I'm not extremist either, there can be one or two factions with say, 5 monsters, and I wouldn't complain. As long as that's it. One or two.

As far as I'm concerned, it's because there's more than enough room to represent the main race with the heroes.

In Heroes IV there was only one elf creature in the Nature lineup, yet nobody can seriously dispute the fact that it was the elves' faction. The majority of its heroes were elves, elves all over the campaign storyline, elven themes and atmosphere, so on and so on.

The H5 Fortress heroes were dwarven. But you really don't need six monotonous clone-dwarves in the creature lineup to hammer forth the point that it's the dwarf faction.

Yes, I completely agree with you. Monotonous factions suck! The only faction that is "allowed" to be monotonous is Haven, because it somewat represents the medieval romantism of brave knights, cavaliers and crusaders and the human race as a whole. The other towns MUST be a diverse, nice mixture of well-known mythological creatures, not crap like Bon Jovy - Blaze of glory

Ok, six is a lot, I agree. But ok, I already knew I am probably the only one that thinks that when the elven faction goes to war, they should be a substantial part of the units, with whatever they got, be it swordmasters, archers, druids, roc-riders or metamorphs (don't need to be all of them ) , and then yes, monsters.

To me its like:

" Hey, lets defend the town, people. All the archers to their spots, all the trees and dragons in the front line, all unicorns as support. "

A hero plus 50 of some elf and a sum of 200 of various monsters does not give me the 'army cohesion' feeling I like.

But again, I'm not poking peoples tastes. Just some observation

Come on it is just a fantasy, who cares if a faction actually can make a "true" army

of course all the factions should have a nice mix of different military units, which can be monotonous or not. The H3 Rampart for example hade frontline units; dwarfs, dendroids and unicorns. They had shock troopers; pegasi, centaurs and dragons. And they had support; elves.

Now of course they also had the dwarfs but still they manage fine with just 2 units(elves, pegasi) that were of their race. Also if we start talking realistically, if most of the elves become archers, then they have their support units, then some rides on pegasi in battle as shock troopers, and then they just grow a lot of dendroids soldiers as tanks. And KABOOM! we have ourselves a big perfect army

I am hoping they lessen the "elves elves elves" feel of Sylvan in H5, if it is put into H6; even having just 3 units as elves felt a bit too overdone to me. I would have liked to have the archers and druids as elves, but change the Blade Dancer to something more bestial and natural (and less ripped off Warhammer).

To be frank, I'm hoping we don't see elves in H6 until the expansions, as I'd like for one of the more "out there" towns like Stronghold to make it into the base game, but if they need to be in from the start cut down on the elves a bit. Same goes for Dungeon; too many elves, not enough monsters. 2 monsters of the same race should be the maximum for any town besides Haven, in my opinion, and even Haven is managing to get away from that a bit.
