but at least I want no dead times after ill finish my turn - need to be able to check my castle, my heroes' skills, arts etc... so stupid when I cant do that!

Nice idea and not so hard to implement for developers

TOH will boom again, as soon as they make a heroes title that is worth being played except H3.

Let's hope H6 will be that, they need to get back to the roots... all that people ever wanted was a "new" H3, 4&5 failed badly.

But iam not holding my breath, it seems the games keep getting worse as the industry grows older, anyone tried Civ5?
Geez, i'd rather play Civilization 4 forever than touching this again.

Unfortunately, the latest-civ's a big failure regarding multiplayer system. win7, 64 bit cannot create/see/join any game since last patch.
But, as you said, 5 is worst in the series.

EDIT:
Indeed, the proportion in quality of games/graphics(pc-performance,power) is nullifying each new game on the market -or may be is just Im getting wiser ?

Yea, they seem to care most about creating some eye candy that will drag in players at release.

But i miss the depth of older games, H3 had a lot more strategy to it, just look at the homm3 tactics thread by Frank in the library!
It's awesome.

In addition, imo H3 had a lot simpler graphics obviously, *but* everything was just so charming and well animated.
I miss the feeling of zoning into my towns (awesome soundtracks also), those little leprechauns dancing in the gardens, the slittering sounds from medusa stores...

I would give up all the 3d stuff just for getting this back again.

No heroes game beats the depth of H5, if you feel H3 was even close then you simply did not spend enough time on H5. I did miss H3 aesthetics though, H5 felt more like a shiny product than something alive with its own identity. Where H6 is concerned I had made a recent post about it.

Quote:
I can understand why people are disappointed when it comes down to certain features, after all H6 leans more towards quality than quantity. Quite literally so.

But for every bad side there is a good one, think how many features that H6 has were missing from other games of the series or were not as advanced - some of which you have yet to hear.

4 advanced classes per faction with 2 unique abilities each, all with their own model, whether might/magic/male/female.
Reputation system actively affecting your skill path/spell effectiveness.
Reduction of micromanagement and smoother gameplay.
Each class having its own skill paths.
Skills/abilities no longer subject to useless requirements, you pick abilities according to your wishes.
Skills no longer subject to Lady Luck's whims.
No more first turn slaughters.
Many new additions to skills/spells.
Plenty of unit abilities, enriching combat depth.
In fact core, elite, champion system already adds to the tactical possibilities.
Unit synergy and champions no longer being powerhouses but instead promoting new strategies.
Cool might and magic references/heroes/items returning.
Dynamic battlefield bring into battle new twists.
Return of text boxes and highly detailed descriptions in unit/hero bios.
New cool catapults.
User friendly and powerful editor.
Innovation in faction gameplay/lineups.
Shortcuts for favourite spells/abilities.

While ubi obviously cannot please us all they are listening and making sure that what we wish for most will appear in the future even if not in time for the game's release. All in all it's not ALL that bad.
RMG, neutrals, factions we can get later, for now we have a solid base to build upon.

IMO H5 had a much better hero skill and combat structure, but it was severely lacking in the adventure map (no XL maps, few towns) and the building order (no more dragon cave before capitol / week 2) department. Also, core imbalances were plenty.

My only wish for H6 is that it offers open maps with possible early (1st week) interactions. I really missed harassing and scouting wars from H5, and I hope the new game will compensate for it.

On RMG i play right now on XL map, and many time i build dragons before capitol... Last day have to choose capitol or dragons to build.

Or maybe you did not spend enough time on H3 (were you born by that time?)

I mean, he had a good point about Frank strategy thread, which lasted for years. H3 conserved its integrity for at least 6-7 years, H5 got into argues about flaws and uber-things pretty fast. The so called depths revealed to be in fact more of a "let's thrown a lot of things inside", hopefully nobody will see the trick. H3 veterans saw it, and said no (well, except Jinxer, but he would play even Tetris if it changed the name to Heroes). Lack of random generator, lack of XL playable maps, hard to believe they put enough time and test in this game until it is perfectly balanced.

nah h3 isnt balanced....but for whatever reason its got that insane replayability developers can only dream of replicating. Hell I just started playing lots again after at least 5 years and its more fun than ever. No other heroes game has that and none ever will i dont think.

if you want balance then play chess or something. the best chess player i ever played against quit chess for high stakes poker. he said it was because chess didnt have any more surprises or something like that. and in chess surprises are almost always bad...
