Gaddafi has been a ruthless dictator for decades; I've actually read different stuff from him on and off in the past (like how he veraciously supports sending as many Muslims to Europe as possible to out-breed the natives) and it took awhile for it to click in my head that it was the same person as I'm reading about in the news now. I was hardly surprised when I saw that he's using mercenaries from Nigeria to do a lot of his dirty work.

I think he's doomed. Even if it turns out to be an ongoing civil war akin to Myanmar, Egypt, Tunisia and likely Algeria are all in the process of having entirely new governments, and their parliaments will be enormously pressured to enter the scene. Libya is a sparsely populated country and Gaddafi really doesn't have much to save himself.

Now, among all these M.E. revolts going on, the real fatted, prized calf is what is ultimately going to happen with Saudi Arabia. There is no regime in the M.E. as deeply entrenched as the Saudis, and there is no regime more relevant to international interests.

Just to trash here but...

If US is a democracy then there are more people who want to wage war around the world than people who oppose it, the rest don't give a snow if their countrymen die in irak or afghanistan or bomb a few thousand innocents on the way.

When someone suggess that the protests in Libya is a US Experiment, they don't mean an experiment conducted by your American citizens but from their leaders. Ofcourse the American citizens are just like us. They just like we have no clue what is really going on and we can only guess and speculate. They won't let us in on the big government secrets.

And also, it's now officially told by the libyans government - the Bulgarian nurses are innocent and Gaddafic simulated the trial to clean his authority.

Amazing that Facebook and Twitter do more to produce positive societal changes in the Middle East than aggressive warmongering.

Here's hoping my countrymen are paying attention.

I was talking earlier in the thread about the idea of a unified Middle East. Here's an opinion article that talks about the prospect that's a pretty interesting read for those that care:

Seems like the rebel are getting hard time and Gadaffi is going to win. On other side your masters from West Europe are speaking for NATO attacking Lybia... This is kinda risky. Lybia can't stand NATO, but what if half of Africa support Gadaffi, it's pretty much possible

Well, they've gone and done it again. US and West Europe will save the lives of millions of Libyans from a bloodthirsty dictator... by killing them first.

And to think that I believed there for an instant that Commie Obama would see things differently. But I guess, once an American, always an American. Well, now that I think about it, with his popularity being so low, he had to do something to get his people liking him again. I'm sure now all the hillbillies and cowboys will go like "Yeehaw! Bomb the snow outta those filthy terrorists! We love you even though you're black!".

On another note, a couple days ago on a single evening, more than 50 protesters (real uncombatant civilians, this time) were killed by the authorities of Yemen during their demonstrations. But what do you know, Yemen doesn't have as much oil as Libya does. I'm just saying!

If this was about controlling oil it would be pretty dumb considering there is no more oil in Libya to control. This might infact have the opposite effect, if the Revolutionaries get in control they just might start selling more of their oil into China.Doesn't that sound just good?

On another note, If NATO forces went into Yemen I don't see how YOUR opinion would be any different "Blah blah evil west blah blah".

No more oil in Libya? You do know that Libya is one of the top 20 countries in oil production, right? And besides Iran and Venezuela, which are very obviously sought after USA too; Libya is the only other big oil producing country that is not on good trading terms with USA. Or that Libya is the third biggest country in Africa when it comes to oil production and it has repeatedly been described as an "Oil Storehouse".

And if NATO would attack Yemen, I would still call them for the bloodthirsty, war pigs that they are. But they won't attack Yemen cause they don't have so much to profit from it as they do with Libya.

And are you aware where most of that oil went to while Gaddafi was in power?
