Personally I prefer the content to be tangible, open the box, turn the artwork pages.. It's no fun if the artwork isn't on paper.

But then I'm the kind of guy that would rather wait and go pick up the game on the nearest store the day it was available, don't like preordering

Usually I'd agree, however due to circomstances, digital distribution is much more convenient for me for certain purchases at the current moment.

Also, I got a hardware upgrade now but on my last laptop, I used the best of both worlds approach that blizzard provides.
I bought Starcraft II, physical box, pre-ordered at a store, they hold on to it, I pick it up.
But, my DVDdrive on my old laptop was bust, so, I logged into Battle.net, registered the game using the serial number and then digitally downloaded the game, no messing around with a disc I couldn't use, really useful system, once you put in your store bought serial, you can download and install the game whenever you want, which is great because my old Diablo II disc is damaged for example.

Nope, I was duped into buying H4 and H5. Both sucked IMO.

I will wait for the reviews.

I agree, I like having tangible stuff, like the Raynor dogtag flash drive from the SC2 collector's.

I'm dyin' on finding out if we can get this in the US....

So am I, just for the Netherlands in my case.
There has to be some kinda reason why the link to the collector's edition works for some and not for others.

Edit: so I've sent a mail to Ubi and now I wait for them to respond.

I'm Dutch, the store worked for me, course I ordered a digital copy.
I also had to cancel and re-order it because of some weird thing where it gave me Call of Juarez ULC instead of the Heroes ULC, beta key and the subscription to the online thing.

Cool to see another dutch guy here!

Looks like those of us in North America are getting the shaft.

As per a PM from ms-kleaneasy who is the community manager over on the official forums:
Quote:
As I've said on the forums there is no collectors edition in the US, or any other disc version. The reason for this when I asked was that the decision was based on demand

I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe there is no demand here in the States. If I seem to recall correctly, this game originated here (3DO and NWC were both California based companies), so I'm sure there are plenty of fans here that want this game.

Thanks a lot Ubi for turning your nose up at a large portion of the fans that made this series as popular as it is.

My pre-ordering (collectors edition) link wont work at all. Im curious about 2 things:

1) if someone pre-ordered the game
2) if the beta release (in 1st situation ) is really available/playable

thx!

Wait it's on Steam now?!

*Hurries over to Ubishop, cancels pre-order then buys from steam instead.*

Kiss my ass Ubishop and your crappy service!

Edit: oh crap, Ubistore is giving me a "server error" when I try to cancel my order.....
Time to e-mail the customer support, and hope they react in time...

Otherwise I'll have bought an expensive birthday present for a friend, not the end of the world.

I never pre-order games... wanna read a few reviews first and then decide if it's worth putting my money into it. None of the goodies of pre-ordering usually interest me anyway.

The only game I could consider pre-ordering is Mass Effect 3 since I believe ME is incapable of being anything less than completely ****ing epic incarnate. But that's it.

Dutch as well... Doesn't work for me either!
Hope this is just a temporary thing, 'cause I've been a loyal fan for all these years, and I really want to have the Collector's Edition for this installment!

I refuse to use steam and their crappy DRM.

Impulse has it for digital but only in North America. Hope they expand the regions to Pacific or I'll be quite irritated.

Hmm, I'm having second thoughts about playing the beta... was just thinking about how playing the very earliest playable builds of Heroes V sort of tainted my overall enjoyment of the final product.

Then again, that was pretty messy. There were several patches just for the beta to be more playable, it was in pitifully poor condition... that isn't even taking into account the drastic patches that were done to the final game.
