^ Debates ^
this is like a Game..
the rules:
first there will be a "subject"
then it is going to be 2 teams
1-st one is going to defend a postion
2-d team will be against
(kind of a lawyers)
you can not change the group untill the new subject and will have to stand for your position..
in every reply you specify which group are you in ...
so let's start:
the 1st Subject:
Resources reduced from 7 to 4
{group 1} - agree with the change
{group 2} - change was a mistake
... let's start the debate

Well, it shouldn't be closed. I think that you just chose the wrong time to create a discussion about resources since we haven't seen how the reduction will work. We can only guess, but since we have no experience with it, I think that it should be postponed at least till beta or the release...

I'm sure threads like this could get going after people have tested it in the beta.

Nobody starts? Then I start!
Im in group 1. Try to see it like this:
Characters:
Lolipop wizard*: A good player that plays as an academy/tower player.
Dragon guy: A noob that thinks that black dragons are cool so always plays with dungeon.
Time: Mid to late-game of a small map.
Place: Ramdom map.
Heroes 1,2,3,4 and 5
Lolipop wizard is trying to find Dragon guys town when he finds a sulfur mine. As any academy player should he already has mage guild at max level and now only needs to get the titans to beat dragon guy so he ignores the sulfur and keps searching. Dragon guy finds the sulfur mine and gets it. Now he has some more sulfur and builds the dragon dwelling. Lollipop wizard and dragon guy find themselves and battle and Lollipop wizard looses because he doesn't have titans.
Heroes 6
Lolipop wizard is trying to find Dragon guys town when he finds a crystal mine. He only needs to get the titans to beat dragon guy so he gets the crystals and buys the titans. Dragon guy finds the crystal mine and gets it. Now he has some more crystals and builds the dragon dwelling. Lollipop wizard and dragon guy find themselves and battle and Lollipop wizard wins because he is a better player.
Basically with less resources everyone tries to get the crystals and win. What good would sulfur do to him?**
* No there wasn't any other username
** Market doesn't count because that is almost like stealing and gets you minimum resources.

1) Ignoring(not using/building) market is just like ignoring(not casting) spells in combat... in other words, ridiculous.
2) Why would he want to take sulfur mine? Well I don't know about you, but I would cripple his economy.
3) You already said that this is mid/late game + small map so mines would had already been captured by now.

1) What will you get for 3 or 4 sulfur in the market? Nott much I guess.
2) It is a neutral, protected and far away mine that would cost him 2 turns and a part of the army (not much but still)
3) MID/late game. I dont know about you but for me there is:
Earlygame (before we get a level 4 dwelling)
Midgame (where you are trying to get the 7th dwelling
Lategame (you have level 7 units and now only need to find the opponent)
Aftergame (after the 2 main heroes fight and now It is only needed to reach the towns and destroy them.

Group 1 - joining you Vitorsly..
For example in HoMM5 i won't risk my army to fight for a resourse that i don't really need.. only the Gold mine was worth fighting for..
with 4 resourses.. the Dragon Crystal will be important for everyone, so you will have to fight for it in order to recruit champion units..
i am sure this change is for good...!
p.s. plz guys specify your group in your posts..

WOW,,,, lets ignore the facts such as
1. in heroes 1 there were no wizards
2. in a small map probably neither one is gonna get to max buidlings
3. someone new to the game will probably loose to an experienced player anyways
4. assuming wizard didnt get to bulid titans why exactly ? coz he didnt get the sulfor mine ?
5. in heroes 6 mines cant be obtained in manner which u have described (something check point or a town controlling the entire area)
6. markets exist
all in all u killed your own side and i was undecided on the subject

1) Market can do a plenty of things for you, if you know how to use it.
2) So what if it's neutral. If it can ruin enemy economy and make him unable to build a building, well I call that a good plan...
3) Well, I have a different classification, but it doesn't matter.

group 3 (lolz)
i personally don't really mind the change to a game cripling effect, but with dragons gone and titans and not to mention devils -.- there would be little use for gems crystals and mercury.
its something new i hope the gamble pays off

Group 2. The REAL issue is the fact that there is no ongoing use of any resources beyond gold and the single rare, even wood and ore become useless but for trade after you've built all your buildings (okay, you use wood for boats, but it's not much). Dropping the number of resources didn't solve this, it just reduced it a bit.
