Sorry for late reply, but managed to stumble across the version 1.1 DOS patch for Heroes of Might and Magic today so thought I'd share it. This thing was in distribution for only a few weeks (1.1 was released 10/06/95, 1.2 was released 10/23/95), so it is quite difficult to come by.
Get it from here.
Also get 1.2 Windows patch for HOMM2 here.

INSTALLATION
- Copy the files labeled "PATCH.RTP" and "PATCH.EXE" to your current
"HEROES" directory on your hard drive.
- Double click on the PATCH.EXE file just copied to your drive.
This will automatically patch the HEROES.EXE file and the
EDITOR.EXE files. Your old games will still work, just play as
usual.
WHAT THIS FIXES
The following problems have been fixed with the current version of
this patch:
In the Heroes game (HEROES.EXE):
- The cursor is updated after the computer players take their turn.
- The cursor now knows when it's over a castle.
- The first monster you control in combat won't do unpredictable
things.
- Your opponent, when using the Identify Hero spell, can no longer
view you as well during his turn.
In the Map Editor (EDITOR.EXE):
- Occasionally certain mountains and forests that would cycle now
don't.
- Saving a map without viewing now only saves once.
If sound and video driver problems still occur after installing this
patch, you should contact your sound or video card manufacturer for
an update to their drivers.
If you have any problems with multiplayer support, most likely its
due to configuration and connecting procedures. If so, contact our

Heroes of Might and Magic II: The Succession Wars Official Game Patch 1.1 for Windows
Quote: Heroes 2 version 1.10 12/10/96
This patch adds a random map generator in the World Editor, and fixes
a number of small bugs in both the game and the editor. Also, this file
lists some information in the manual that was missing, wrong, or unclear.
Finally, there is a troubleshooting section at the end of this file that
addresses some of the most common problems users have been experiencing,
and recommends solutions to them.
=====Patch Fixes/Additions=====
* Random Map Generator now available in the World Editor. This allows
you to randomly create worlds, with paramaters you set.
* All single scenario maps may now be loaded in the editor. If you save
them out again, they will have an underscore prefix, so they don't
overwrite the originals.
* Sound and Video support code has been updated, which will clear up
some problems. (See the troubleshooting section for more help).
* Old CD Rom drives which can't handle the switching code should now
display a normal error message, rather than simply crashing.
* A bug preventing the entering of long IP addresses in internet play
has been fixed.
* Some communication errors when hosting a TCP/IP game have been fixed.
* Occasionally, when a very large number of objects were placed in
the editor, it would crash. This has been fixed.
* The DOS version allowed invalid save filenames. Filenames are now
checked for accuracy.
* The * and , symbols may now be used for modem dialing (*70, disables
call waiting)
* Deleting events and rumours in the editor didn't work properly before.
This has been fixed.
* Undead units were showing bad morale, even though they don't have morale.
This has been fixed.
* Ghosts were growing faster than they should have when retaliating. This
has been fixed.
* The Lost Continent map had a buggy mine which has been fixed.
=====Manual Supplements=====
The following information supplements, clarifies and corrects the manual:
* The <F2> key can be used in multi-player mode for chatting.
* To split armies, click on the army to split, hold down the shift key,
then click on an empty slot.
* The terms used for monster quantities:
Few 0 to 4
Several 5 to 9
Pack 10 to 19
Lots 20 to 49
Horde 50 to 99
Throng 100 to 249
Swarm 250 to 499
Zounds 500 to 999
Legion 1000+
=====Troubleshooting=====
The biggest source of troubles when running Heroes 2 are Windows 95 driver
conflicts. If you have troubles getting Heroes 2 to run in Win 95, try some
of the following techniques. As a fallback, you can always run the DOS
version of Heroes 2, which runs fine under Win 95, and because it
communicates directly with the hardware, tends to have fewer driver problems.
If you have a problem with your sound card, video, or mouse, make sure you
have the latest drivers from the manufacturer.
With some mouse drivers, the mouse leaves trails or does funny things when
moved. This can normally be resolved by switching from a black and white
cursor to a color cursor, in the system options window off the main
adventure screen.
If your system has problems playing the video sequences (like those that
introduce the campaign), try switching to interlaced video, in the system
options window. This will also help if the sound hiccups or stutters while
playing the video.
If you have problems with the sound, try switching from CD Stereo to MIDI
music, in the system options screen.
Several people have reported that restoring their original audio
drivers after installing DirectX has helped. To do this, either open
the DirectX control panel applet and select "Restore Audio Drivers"
or open the "\_SETUP\DIRECTX\DXSETUP.EXE" program on the Heroes 2 CD
and select "Restore Audio Drivers" You will probably need your
Windows 95 CD to restore the old drivers from.

can and can not dig for the ultimate artifact.
If you are playing on Windows NT with Service Pack 3 installed you may
now use IPX for networking.
In a multiplayer network, direct connect, or modem game if someone cheats
all other players will be notified that someone is cheating. This does
not affect game play at all, but it was requested by several players just
to keep things fair. There is no cheat notification during Hot Seat games.
Text files containing the audio scripts for the campaign cutscenes have
been included in the game directory. The file is named H2CAMP.TXT.
The Music CD and Digital audio part of the code has been updated and
the video playback upgraded.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Bug Fixes
Version 1.3
===========
The computer heroes will now cast blind, berserk and paralyze spells.
The visions spell has been fixed. Previously if a group of monsters
were willing to join you for gold, the amount of gold the spell said
it would take to get them to join was twice the actual amount.
If the Ultimate Artifact has been found the tavern rumor relating to it
would be incorrect. This has been fixed.
All Ultimate Artifacts now disappear when the hero carrying them loses a
battle. Previously only the original 4 Ultimate Artifacts would
disappear.
Several spelling and grammar errors were fixed.
When right-clicking on the top of some castles the information shown in
the quick view window would be from a different castle. This has been
corrected.
Sometimes the spell name would be grayed out in your spell book even
though you had enough mana to cast it. This has been corrected.
The DOS version was not properly setting the palette on some video
cards. This has been corrected.
The DOS version's random number generator was not being initialized
properly. Because of this some of the starting parameters for scenarios
were always the same. This has been corrected.
Sometimes casting Mirror Image on a two hex creature would cause the
game to exit unexpectedly. This has been corrected.
Sometimes when rapidly cycling through different towns the game would
exit unexpectedly. This has been corrected.
It is no longer possible to have a luck greater than +3 while defending
a sorceress' castle.
Sometimes while attacking a castle with a shooting creature incorrect
text would be displayed in the message area. This has been corrected.
The shot counter for the Magi and Archmagi creatures was not counting
down the number of shots remaining. This has been corrected.
The Curse and Mass Curse spells were not working properly. They have
been corrected.
There was an error in the map for the 3rd Roland Campaign. It has been
corrected.
There was a bad crystal mine on the map for the 4th Archibald Campaign.
It has been fixed.
An invisible mercury mine on the Heroes map has been removed. Computer
Heroes were apparently "claiming" it.
Heroes II no longer uses DirectSound under Windows NT since it seems to
cause skipping during the cut scenes. If you experience garbled sound
during the cut scenes in Windows 95 try adding /W to the command line
for launching Heroes II. This will force DirectSound to be turned off.
Version 1.2
===========
The computer was able to take a haunted mine set by a human player without
having to fight the ghosts. When the human player went back to claim the
mine, he went into combat with the ghosts.
When the human player used the "Set Guardian" spells the computer was able
to take the guarded mine without having to fight the guardians. When the
human player went back to claim the mine, he went into combat with the
guardians.
Music (CD Audio and Midi) part of the code has been cleaned up. The CD
Audio music error has been fixed.
Some systems were having problems connecting using TCP/IP, this has
been fixed.

Change to the Heroes2 folder if you are not already there. If you
installed Heroes II to the default location, you can do this from
the desktop by double clicking on the My Computer icon, then double
clicking on the Program Files folder and then double clicking on
the Heroes2 folder. Once you are in the Heroes2 folder, double
click on the Runme or Runme.bat file. A DOS window will open and
the patch will be applied.
To close the DOS window, click on the x in the top right corner.
If necessary you can also apply the patch manually by following the
instructions below:
Copy the H2WEXP21.ZIP file into your HEROES2 folder. The Heroes2
folder is inside of the Program Files folder, unless you changed
the game's location when you installed the game. Extract (unzip)
the RUNME.BAT, PATCH.EXE, PATCHW32.DLL and H2WEXP21.RTP files into
your Heroes2 folder.
Open a DOS prompt. You can do this by clicking on the Windows 95
Start button, then moving the mouse cursor to Programs and clicking
on MS-DOS Prompt. A DOS window will open.
Using the DOS window, change directory to the HEROES2 directory
using the CD command. If you installed Heroes II to the default
directory the command would be "CD\PROGRA~1\HEROES2".
In the Heroes2 directory, type "PATCH H2WEXP21" and press enter to
manually run the patch.
DOS
===
Copy the RUNME.BAT, PATCH.EXE and H2DEXP21.RTP files into
your HEROES2 directory. The default directory is
"C:\Heroes2".
Change to the HEROES2 directory using the dos CD command.
If you installed the game in the default directory the
command would be "cd\heroes2".
Type "runme" and press enter.
It is important that you download and use the proper patch for your
version of Heroes II: The Price of Loyalty.
If you have trouble with the patch you should re-install the game
from the CD into a new directory and try patching from there. If
that does not help please contact customer service using the
information below.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) New Features:
If you move the mouse over the crest in a town or castle screen the
Month, Week, and Day will be displayed in the message area.
Right-clicking on land in the adventure screen will show you where you
can and can not dig for the ultimate artifact.
Text files containing the audio scripts for both Heroes II and the
expansion pack cutscenes are included in the game directory. The
files are named H2CAMP.TXT and POLCAMP.TXT.
The random map generator will now place Price of Loyalty magic items and
some locations. Barrow Mounds, Barriers and Tents, Jails, Hut and Eye
Of the Magi will NOT be placed on the map by the random map generator.
The Music CD and Digital audio part of the code has been updated and
the video playback upgraded.

3) Bug Fixes
Version 2.1
===========
When you right clicked on a hero's scroll in the kingdom overview
(summary) screen a "%" was displayed instead of the correct text.
This has been fixed.
The original good and evil campaign cutscenes were truncated. The final
frame is displayed now.
Right clicking on the square to the north of a tent also displayed the
Traveler's Tent text. This no longer happens.
Having the Alchemist remove the Broach of Shielding from a hero did not
restore the -2 power the hero had lost due to the broach. The hero's
power is restored now.
The graphic for the Ultimate Staff was corrupt and has been replaced.
The bonus for the Necromancer castle shrine was not always working from
turn to turn. The bonus now works correctly.
Wizard's Campaign, Map 4: Taking the castle Magic will now end the
scenario.
Fixed a minor map error on The Price of Loyalty campaign map 2.
The Price of Loyalty Campaign, Map 3: You can no longer "sneak" through
the trees and get to the Red Tent.
The Price of Loyalty Campaign, Map 8: Removed the shipyard from the
landlocked necromancer castle in the south.
Descendants Campaign, Map 3: You can no longer walk around the
Blue barrier.
Descendants Campaign, Map 4: Fixed a bad mine at x65,y3.
Descendants Campaign, Map 8: Fixed a bad mine at x61,y21.
New Enemies Map: Corrected a typo in the scenario description.
Sharkania Map: Fixed the mine at x40,y6.
Fortress Isle Map: Corrected a minor map error.
All Ultimate Artifacts now disappear when the hero carrying them loses a
battle. Previously only the original 4 UAs would disappear.
There was a bad mine in the map for the 3rd Roland Campaign. It has been

Quote: Sorry for late reply, but managed to stumble across the version 1.1 DOS patch for Heroes of Might and Magic today so thought I'd share it. This thing was in distribution for only a few weeks (1.1 was released 10/06/95, 1.2 was released 10/23/95), so it is quite difficult to come by.
Get it from here.
Also get 1.2 Windows patch for HOMM2 here.
Both of those are down. Does anyone have a working link or can upload them somewhere?
EDIT: Got HoMM II 1.2 win and uploaded it here:

I'm very sorry for necroing, but this thread is quite visible in Google when searching for HoMM 3 patches. Since its kinda hard to actually find all 16 of them (as pointed out by Bersaglio above) I collected them into a single 28 MB 7-zip file which is now available on my site: merri.net/homm3.html
