As the leader in the polls is accused of and arrested for rape in the US as he hastily flees his hotel room and tries to catch a quick flight back to France.

Why wouldn't a 62 year old French presidential favourite, prominent socialist (I see what you did there) and head of the IMF feel like raping someone in the middle of the campaign, in a quiet, secretive backwater such as New York.

Nothing wrong with the name, he is jew, isn't it, Elodin?. Faithful christian too. Still hard to believe there is no mischievous plot under this, time will tell.

There are still a couple of questions non elucidated:

1) Why, in a hotel room at 3000 USD, an employee can enter without knocking and find you naked? Unbelievable. That would be the easiest way to take naked pics of celebrities and make money.

2) Why, if he raped her indeed, he could leave silently the hotel after talking to the reception for couple minutes? There is a security team in such hotels.

Allegations about him leaving secretly and fleeing the hotel are false, as everything Elodin presents in a haste. Like Ousama hiding behind his wife.

To take with care, gross.

Wait, so you are saying that the fact he is a socialist is relevant to the case? Are members of the French Socialist Party approving of rape or something?

I know Strauss-Khan has a reputation for being a womanizer but I know of no other rape case he has been involved in.

Wait, so I wrote the FOX news article? Did I write the ABC news article too? ABC is very leftist and positive towards socialism.

When police arrived they found Strauss-Kahn's cell phone and other forensic evidence linking him to the allegations, police said.

"It appeared he left in a hurry," Browne said.

Authorities said the hotel maid's account "is credible." She was taken by police to a hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

Lulz, at first I mixed up "IMF" with "IDF" (Israeli Defense Force). I was wondering why this guy wasn't being roasted on a spit yet and receiving thousands of death threats.

Anyway, I don't see why some people find the possibility so unbelievable. Lots of politicians do things that are moronic to their career and to their person. Passion can sometimes be the antithesis of prudence. You also need to realize that politics (as well as major entertainment) attract an extremely passionate demographic of people. They are your whimsical artists and your radical type-A personalities. They're not average people and are far more prone to do ballsy things. That's why stuff like this seems to happen so often for celebrity figures.

Where does it say that?

The most hard-to-believe part of the allegations is that he was literally trying to pin her down and rape her. What would he have done then? Murdered her? Do his business and then just walk away? If it's true it seems more likely that he was very aggressively coming on to her and his seduction attempts failed horribly, and when he saw that she was freaking out he packed up his **** and quickly left.

It takes 2 seconds to check out of a hotel. You don't even necessarily need to stop at the front desk. A woman that just experienced something like that isn't necessarily going to instantly come running out of the room screaming for security. They often times don't.

Police say at 1 p.m., a hotel housekeeper entered room 2806 at Sofitel in Manhattan -- a luxury $3,000-per-night, multi-room suite -- when Strauss-Kahn allegedly walked out of his bathroom naked and forced himself on the 32-year-old woman.

As she was in the foyer, "he came out of the bathroom, fully naked, and attempted to sexually assault her," NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner for Public Information Paul Browne said.

According to her account, Browne said, Strauss-Kahn grabbed her "and pulls her into the bedroom and onto the bed." He locked the door to the suite, Browne said.

Either way, it sounds like an awful load of bull to me. He jumps her like a psycho - suuuuuuure... first thing to do after being surprised by a cleaning worker in your apartment after coming out of the shower naked is to rape her - it's obvious.

It doesn't say that she didn't knock. If you've ever been to hotels they usually have a tag that you hang on the doorknob if you don't want to be disturbed, want cleaning service, etc.

But anyway, I agree that the notion that he was literally trying to pin her down and rape her seems pretty unbelievable. If any of it is true, I think it's more likely he was very aggressively coming on to her, and when she started freaking out and it turned into a disaster, he hastily left, hoping she wouldn't report anything. The allegations are based on the woman's account, which means it is likely blown out of proportion.

Coming out of a  bathroom naked and throwing yourself on somebody without their permission is sexual assault, thankfully. It's not the same thing as full-blown rape but he could still get in trouble.

Even if you think something like that should be perfectly okay, people (IMF head's most of all) should have the wit to understand that New York isn't Paris.

I assumed, but I've seen comments from people on other forums that said similar things in a non-joking manner, so obviously some people are thick-headed enough to use that as a serious defense.
