HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC 7




Timeline:

969 YSD - 6th Eclipse - Queen Isabel's War

An eclipse not forecast on any calendar grips the Empire in a panic.
The Demons emerge in force and march towards Haven's capital.
This war will be known as Queen Isabel's War and is the topic of Heroes V's campaign.


989 YSD – The Dark Messiah – Skull of Shadows

Sareth defeats Arantir who tries to permanently seal Kha Beleth’s prison by performing a ritual in Stonehelm’s Ancient Necropolis.
He makes a decision to destroy the Skull of Shadows and free demons.


990 YSD – War of the Dragon Gods – Destruction of Ashan - Cinematic intro

Asha and six Elemental Dragons clash into an epic battle with Urgash and demon overlords.
Asha sacrifices itself to create portals for refugees to escape to new world called Arev.
Ashan is completely destroyed. Urgash is victorious


991 - 999 YSD – New beginning – Recreation

Survivors of the war started occupying new lands and recreating factions.
Academy recovered faster as their troops mainly consist of magically animated units, Eastern desert became a new home for Wizards faction
Haven faction was united later under the Lionheart dynasty. Haven was renamed and now called Empire.
Necromancers were shattered by the results of war. Some flee to southern desert, while the others attacked by Wizards had to move to the north.
Sylvan faction took the territories of western forest. Elves united with the savage creatures of the forest to form a new faction called Rampart.
Dwarfs and Orcs both claimed the northern lands and so the “eternal war” between them started. Since that day a hate between Dwarfs and Orcs never ended  
As for Dungeon faction their fate is still unknown

FACTION INFO AS PER 1000 YSD:

Academy recovered faster then any other faction as their troops mainly consist of animated golems and magical creatures. So their losses were considerably less. The most powerful faction in Arev is ruled by tree powerful wizards called Arius, Kastral and Djinn Sorimar.
Academy is located in Eastern desert Saridar with the capital Saramel – the Tower of High Mages

STORY:

1 – Prologue – Human alliance



Arius the “Blue Wizard” travels to the west to create a secret alliance with Empire.
He meets the leader of Empire King Roland LionHeart who agrees to form an alliance.


2 – Orange Wizard



Kastral the “Orange Wizard” tries to totally destroy remaining troops of Necromancers and capture their leader Vampire Lord Zertax.
With the help of Arius, Djinn Sorimar and King Roland Lionheart undead troops are destroyed.
Kastral was the first to find Zertax, who in order to save his life reveals the location of powerful artifact called Book of prophecies.
But in spite of the promise Kastral kills Vampire Lord and then disappears.


3 – Book of prophecies



Katral travels to Zerimos the South Desert to find the Book of Prophecies.
He fights guardians of the tombs and defeats the King of the Tombs who protects the artifact.
When Kastral opens the Book and reads his future an evil smile shines on his face...

Necropolis was in devastating situation. Their army was small.
And constant attacks from Academy just made it worse for Necromancers.
Survival was the main goal for undead troops.

Gabriel




Sandro






STORY

1 – Recreation



After defeat from Academy only few Undead troops remain and their leader Zertax was defeated.
Zertax’s apprentice called Gabriel now tries to save remaining troops.
But unexpected attack from King Roland makes the situation devastating.
Suddenly a powerful undead army rescues Gabriel and held back the attack of Empire.
Leader of the undead called Sandro claims that he comes from a world different from Ashan.
After sharing some facts of his biography Sandro offers Gabriel to serve him.
Without having much of a choice Gabriel accepts the offer.


2 – Art of Stealth



Gabriel is given an important task from Sandro.
He has to steal an artifact from a wizard called Kastral.
It is some sort of a magical book and that’s all Sandro told him about it.
Also an important part of agreement is that Gabriel is not allowed to open the book in no circumstances.
So while Sandro launches an attack on Academy troops, Gabriel enters the Hall of Wizards and fights Kastral.
Surprisingly the battle was very easy for Gabriel.
It even seemed that Wizard was giving away the battle in order to save himself.
In the end Kastral escaped but it didn’t really matter for Gabriel as the artifact was in his hands.
And of course the first thing he did is opened the book.


3 – North Lands



Gabriel knows that Sandro is furious and he should be prepared.
He should escape to the north as soon as possible.
Orcs are fighting with Dwarfs there, and both should have many fallen troops.
And that is exactly what Gabriel needs in order to raise a strong undead army.
The problem is that he does not have much time, so he should be fast, and try to avoid unnecessary encounters with Dwarfs and Orcs.
Luck was on Gabriel’s side as Sandro wasn’t wise enough to avoid Orcs and Dwarfs armies.
Blinded by anger Sandro underestimated their military strength.
So Gabriel successfully defended against him.
Gabriel was pleased with himself as everything was going according to the plan.

STORY

1 – Betrayal



It is time to act.
King Roland and Kastral are now entering the Western Forest to defeat the Elves Rampart faction.
The secret alliance was created in order to destroy all the other races so Arev will belong only to Humans,
and only two factions Empire and Academy will rule the new world.
Elves are unaware of their plans so they will be caught by surprise.
And the best way to destroy the faith of the Elves is to strike to the heart of their Kingdom,
The High King Laranas is the primary target.
Roland attacks the southern border of the Forest.
Most of the battles he won by his own as Kastral appeared to be a coward who tried to avoid major casualties and very often arrived in the end of the battle.
Laranas refused to attack straight away, as he could not believe the rumors of noble King Roland entering the Forest and attacking the Elves.
But after he saw the evidence he calls for the troops and marches to the border of Elven Kingdom.
Laranas lost too much time and was not able to defend his Kingdom. Empire troops had a lot of casualties but Roland defeats the High King.
Finally Kastral arrives with a massive army, he planned everything in advance.
He betrays Roland and kills him and the remaining Empire troops.


2 – Revenge



King Roland’s son Lionis swore to revenge his father.
Knowing that Empire troops are too weak to oppose Academy Wizards,
he decides to travel to the north lands to find an epic artifact called Sword of the Gods.
People were saying that many have tried before but none have returned.
But even that fact was not enough to stop Lionis.
He and the most loyal Generals of Empire prepare for a long journey to the North.
In the land of North Lionis met an Oracle who showed the location of artifact but refused to accompany his troops.
So it was a Forsaken Cathedral in Dungeon.
Lionis had to fight his way to the dungeon as Dwarven troops were trying to stop him.
Lionis had no intentions fighting them but he had no other choice as he had to revenge assassins of his father.
Finally he reached the Dungeon which was guarded by a Guardian.
He defeated the Guardian, but lost majority of his troops and all of his Generals.


3 – Sword of the Gods



In dungeon Lionis had to fight not only dwarfs but also many strange creatures that he never heard of before.
The deeper Lionis was going into the dungeon the fewer creatures were around.
Maybe they were afraid of something, Lionis did not know,
but he could feel a presence of someone or something following him since he entered dungeon.
Finally he found the sword. The Giant Dragon appeared in front of him saying that
“Sword of the Gods belongs to Gods only and no mortal should obtain it”.
Lionis fought the dragon and defeated it.
"Finally the sword is mine! You will be avenged father! And you the one following me, revealed yourself, I am now ready to fight you!"
A figure appeared from the shadows, in which Lionis recognized the Oracle he met on his way.
“Thank you Lionis, you did exactly what you were supposed to do, finally you have awoken the evil, now your world and your Empire will be destroyed”.
The Sword of Gods disappeared in shadows and one after another faceless warriors were coming out from darkness.

MOUNTAIN CLANS




CLANS MUSIC THEME

Mountain Clans consist of Dwarfs and creatures of the North Lands.
They don’t have an organized faction yet and are in territorial war with the Orcs.
Clans do not worship Fire anymore instead they use Frost and Runic powers.

STORY

1 – Escape



Vorstan couldn’t stop Lionis from his quest.
Prince has unleashed the Evil creatures.
Vorstan should flee the Dungeon as soon as possible.
Chased by powerful Evil army Vorstan manages to escape the Dungeon
and enters the Frost Mountains of the North Land


2 – Land of Giants



Mountains of North Lands were ruled by Giants.
As Vorstan fights them with courage some of the creatures of the North
who suffered the rule of Giants joined the Clans and helped to defeat Leaders of the Giants.


3 – Arena



Apparently Giants were not the only ones who claimed North Lands for themselves.
A Barbarian army consist of human warriors appeared on the scene.
But those humans were not like Vorstan saw before they were much taller and stronger.
Fearless battles toke place between Dwarfs and Barbarians until a messenger arrives.
He spoke in behalf their leader Barbarian called Crag Hack.
Crag Hack was offering a duel battle on Arena with Vorstan as he didn’t want to have more casualties on both sides.
Vorstan accepted the offer and leaders clashed in a battle.
Even though Vorstan injured Crag Hack in the end he was defeated.
But Barbarian spared Vorstan’s life, saying that Vorstan is a noble warrior and he should rule the North Lands.
As for Crag Hack himself, he has traveled many lands before and will continue his endless journey.
Vorstan swore that he will never forget Crag Hack’s help and he was named a Dwarf King of the North.

Stronghold was not as strong as before because not many Orcs survived the War of The Dragons.
Constant wars with Dwarfs didn’t make the situation any better.
Faction is ruled by two leaders Chieftain Garak and Shaman Chuga

No melee penalty (upgrade)


MINOTAUR (joined Orcs after gaining freedom from Dark Elves)

Shooter - with area attack like in H4

Throw allies (upgrade) – Cyclops can throw allied troops, except for large creatures, to any location on the battlefield causing them little damage

Tough skin  - 50% resistance to all types of spells
Behemoth Claws (passive) - after attack causes enemy stack to suffer 50% damage for two more turns






CAMPAIGN

STRONGHOLD HEROES:

STORY


1 – Split



Army of the mighty Orcs is split into two.
Some follow the Warchief Garaks, the others Shaman Chuga.
Chuga spoke of spirits telling him to take all the army to the west,
while Garaks gathered a powerful army and refused to follow Chuga’s advices.
His primary goal was to destroy the hated enemy, the Dwarfs.
So Garaks enters the Mountains of the North Land destroying everything and everyone on his path.


2 – Revolt



Garaks established several bases after defeating Dwarf Guardians.
He needs to gain enough resources in order to be able to destroy the Dwarven army.
It was taking long of time to find necessary recourses so some members of his army were not happy about Garaks tactics,
as the rage was filling their blood and no Orc should be afraid of any battle.
They rise and revolt against Garaks. By a cost of terrible losses Garaks quelled the revolt.
Remaining troops now had a blood of their own kind on their hands, so they refused to follow Garaks anymore.
The army went in the search of Chuga. Garaks was left alone as his pride didn’t allow him to follow the army.


3 – The Ritual



Spirits whispered to Chuga, that he has to perform a ritual next to the Sacred Lake in the lands of Elves.
Also in order to perform a ritual Chuga collected Elvish and Human blood.
Chuga reaches the altar and cuts his hand to add the missing ingredient the Orcish blood.
Now Stronghold army has to protect Chuga by all means, as the ritual should be performed.
Thousands of Rampart creatures were attacking Stronghold troops to stop the ritual, but Chuga managed to finish his task.
The land was changing in seconds turning into swamp and a powerful wave of magic pushed the elves away.
Chuga was successful.

Swallow (upgrade) - swallows enemy creature for two turns dealing damage, movement points of Wurm are decreased, can not attack other creatures. doesn't work on large creatures


SOUL REAVER



Abilities:

Caster - (curse, misfortune, doom)
Consume soul (upgrade) - consumes enemies soul, that increases stat's of Reaver and dramatically decreases stat's of enemy stack. ability works untill Reaver dies and can be cast only once per battle


AVENGER



Abilities:

Revenge - deals double damage to enemy who attacked Avenger during battle
Sacrifice (upgrade) - Sacrifices itself in order to deal double damage to every enemy stack who attacked Avenger during the battle



CHAMPION

MISTRESS OF HORROR



Abilities:

Large creature
Fear - every time Mistress attacks it causes Fear to enemy stack, so enemy moves away without retaliating
Aura of Horror - enemy stacks located close to Mistress get morale penalty
Pincers (upgrade) - grasps enemy with pincers and deals damage, so enemy stack can not move or retaliate


ULTIMATE

FACELESS LORD



Abiliites:

Large creature
Paralyzing attack - paralyzes enemy for random amount of turns
Aura of misfortune - enemy stack located close to Faceless Lord will always get unlucky attack
Lord of darkness - brings darkness to battlefield which dispells all positive effects from enemy stacks and they can not be applied untill darkness reveals. Lasts for 5 turns and can be cast once per battle

STORY

1 – Faceless Lords



The evil has been awoken. But they need a true leader as it is very hard to control Evil.
The Dark Oracle needs to summon the legendary Faceless Lords to ensure the victory.
In the fallen cathedral Faceless Lords were summoned to lead the army of Evil.


2 – Army of Evil



It is time of the true War.
Armies of Evil are attacking Empire and Academy to ensure the domination.
Empire leadres refused to unite with Academy - "assassins" of their King
So Faceless Lords were successful. And no mercy was shown to their opponents.



3 – The Dark Oracle



Now the Dark Oracle has another task to accomplish.
Necromancers are still powerful and they must be destroyed.
Two powerful armies clashed in the Wastelands.
Dark Oracle was desperate to face the leader of the undead Necromancer Sandro.
When undead armies were destroyed Sandro was left face to face to Dark Oracle.
Oracle removed his mask, so Sandro could recognize him..
“Gabriel!” Necromancer whispered with anger. "That is you!
Well.. finish what you came for!”
Gabirel spared Sandro’s life saying that he had debts to pay, as Sandro once saved his life.
But told Sandro to leave these lands forever, as the next time he will show no mercy..
Arev will belong to Evil and no one can stop Gabriel now!

-- campaign
unfortunately my knowledge of english (my 3d language) doesn't allow me to wright detailed campaign that i have in my mind.. so will do it briefly..

-- 4 tier system
core
elite
champion
ultimate (tier 8) - very strong creatures but very expensive.. also they are not upgreadable

-- mini factions
mini factions are like "mercenary camps".. you can recruit creatures there if you own the town.. they also increase your gold income

--faction music
just tried to have something different to contribute to faction atmosphere.. so please click on the link while viewing the faction..
p.s. yes i know that no one is better then Romero for HoMM.. but still, didn't want to repeat previous music themes..

6 factions + 2 first expansion + 2 second expansion..

i was thinking a while about this one too )
but in the end i decided that Sphinx looks more impressive then Phoenix, also i concider Mind Control a more powerful feature then Rebirth for Phoenix.. but thanks for suggestion!

@ Nighty

well, i am more into Visuals, Atmosphere, Music and stuff like this..
with Special abilities i don't see them as important as mentioned above, so i guess didn't spend enough time on them.. but will be more then happy to hear your and others suggestions!!!
About Thunderbird.. i did something "horrible" to it.. don't think you will like it.. will post soon..

Empire looks nice, too.
Witch Hunter is also planned for the Haven of my HoMM 6, though as Elite, probably^^

For the story, btw, I have to say...many parts are quite known and classical but that's well and fine in an HoMM, as I allready said in bixies thread. Only the beginning is VERY much the same as in H4...

Minor nitpick: Why is the Death Knight riding an ethereal mount?
Wouldn't a skeleton horse best befit a might hero?
Also Sandro hasn't aged well

who really great work.

I especially like it,that you try to make something new with some factions and the musics you chose as faction themes are awesome.


The only things I would change are:
-The wraith and the avatar of death look too similar,the biggest difference is,that one of them wields a scythe and has wings,I think alternatively you could use skeletons as core units,move the mummy up to the elite creatures and make the revenenant the champion,or you could include the dullahan(the headless horserider)as champion.


-The mountain clans have too many humanoid creatures(especially in the core tier),like the fortress of HV(even though it is way better,than the fortress of HV),maybe you could use something like a yeti,or some kind of wolf as units.

Revenant: May I suggest Phantom as the base creature and Revenant as an upgrade?
If the Revenant is more of a 'physical' creature, hmm... Perhaps Vivisector?
