Actually, it's schön, if we're going to be very dastardly about it.

EDIT: Also, I'm glad we can continue rolling for a bit.

I take care of the place while the Master is away. But the plot! I'm not sure that the Master would approve. Or the story. The Master doesn't like plots.

The GM is back with a vengeance

Anyway, I suggest WO and BETA agree to a rewrite or someone finds a way to handwave this turn of events or we lynch WO's char. On of these need to happen, because the story is dying through needless detail.

@ BETA: I'd prefer if you consider whether you are throwing the RPG to a screeching halt by making your action next time. If you're not sure, consult the DM or see if you can coordinate this with the PC you're intending to bonk on the head. This isn't a competition, BETA.

@ WO: No more wanton stealing, really, again this makes your character unlikeable and unreliable to boot. Your character can try to steal stuff, but he doesn't instantly succeed and he doesn't do it because "he just felt like it." That is empty and lazy characterisation.

If this isn't resolved in a day or two between you guys, then we ignore this whole "a bottle is stolen and the thief caught and now no one knows how to handle this entire mundane situation and now the RPG is stuck like a cart loaded with several tons of iron in the mud"-fiasco.

EDIT: This is partially my fault for not intervening sooner and having bad communication with some of the players involved and for that I apologise.

It's not a "Because he likes to", rather than a "He can't help himself". In fact in many cases Boolroc barely notices that he's picked someone's pocket. The fact that in my char description I indicated that he's a klepto should have been hint enough. True, this time it was a concious thing, as Boolroc want to feel around under the robe of the mysterious bird.
I'll try to limit the stealing to NPC's and I'll see what I can work out with BETA.

And yes, this RPG is a bit stuck, but on the otherhand, we've been flying under the troll-radar for the time being. I was rather hoping that it continued to do so.

Let's not mention that last bit, aye?

Either way, if you're really set on your character having a pathological need to steal, then that, of course, requires consequences, like, say, hanging.

Did we not cover this whole Crime-&-Punishment issue? In that, criminals need to get caught and held until trial, however biased that trial may be, before he gets harshly punished.
Besides, reading more into such material. The entire medieval legal system functions on an entirely different basis. In that it is not the job of the government(be that king, town council or mayor etc.) to investigate and get criminals to trial. That is the job of the guy who thinks he had been wronged, the plaintiff. It is also the job of the plaintiff to provide evidence for such wrongdoings. Furthermore, judges were rarely just that. Judge was just another office a rich bloke held on the side to increase his income. Making them fickle, biased and often corrupt. A plaintiff has just as much chance of getting fined for wasting the judges time, as he is getting his just due. (Obviously there is a lot more to it than this, but this is the basic gist of it.)

Okay, I am not going to discuss medieval justice with you. There's no reason whatsoever to do so in a treasure hunting RPG. We're not in an urban setting, either way, so stuff like judges, magistrates and plaintiffs are not really an issue. The fact there is such a thing as a "free village" is fantastical enough, if you think about it.

So let's forget about "due process." That, my friend, is not on the table, because even if he was put in some local cell and Limp bailed him out somehow, then he still wouldn't be able to get along, because the other player characters would be like: "He stole from us. Better kill him before he does so again."

Things have just taken a bad turn of events for overall progression and I suggest it be changed with BETA, instead of arguing with me what happens with criminals in medieval society, because known criminals don't get jiggy with player characters, except maybe in combat encounters.
