Indeed artu, now that it has been proved you are enough stupid to not understand religion, you are ready to become religious. The thread comes to a logical end conclusion.

The OT is important but it was not meant for Christians to follow as guideline. The New Testament is for that.

Of course I will defend another Christian, as we both try to explain the same things to atheists.

Really? You say the song Imagine is not so different from what Christianity means to you, now ask Elodin what he thinks about the words of that song. Do you really try to explain the same things or is it easier to wrap it all up under Christianity because of cultural background? Since, you don't like labels and all... You're too young Drakon, think before you make such decisive statements.

"Imagine" has some good stuff in it and some sucky stuff. It has "brothehood of man" in it, an idea several atheists in this thread have been railing against.

That's the main problem - saying OT is a bunch of symbolic yet fairy tales isn't a problem for Church, but somehow Christ's magic tricks just must be true...

So I'll call you in the same way as this another Christian. Are you really surprised?

Somebody tells you to love every one is impossible (unless you are brainwashed) and your answer is it is impossible for non-belivers to do that or comprehend it.

Things of the Spirit are understood via the Spirit so yeah, there are a lot of things that unbelievers simply can't understand because they don't have the Spirit.

Yeah, I said I love everyone because the Spirit of love lives in me and atheists said, "Nuh-uh, you're a brainwashed delusional liar, nobody can love everyone."

I'm sorry if you can't understand how someone can love everyone. One day maybe you'll come to know God and things will "click" and you'll come to see many things you can't see now.

It is not a slap at the mental ability of unbelievers. It is simple acknowledgement that things of the Spirit are discerned through the Spirit not through towering intellect.

In all fairness, if you are an embodiment of the "Spirit of Love", I certainly think that we are better off without it. Both actively and passively, mind you: I neither would want to have that kind of Spirit - nor am I feeling especially well, being the target of this kind of "love".

I also think, I'm quite able to understand how some godly being would be able to in fact love everyone, but if you think this should be and is possible for a mere human as well we may have a different understanding of what love actually means.

Did it, by the way, ever occur to you why Christians in general are against the death penalty and killing in general? Because the act of killing robs the killed the opportunity to repent. If you kill a person that hasn't repented, yet, that person's soul is doomed.

So how is being in favor of the death penalty expression of the Spirit of Love that's in you?

Hobbit dude, I never said all the OT is symbolic, just that it wasn't meant for Christians, which part of that you didn't understand?

You can call me any way you want to as long as it's not an insult. Get it, shorty?

I guess I must be Christian-D I think one of the biggest problems within Christianity is that the testaments are not correctly understood by the followers.

What I mean is the Old is the beginning of the things and the historical reference of the Jewish Law. The New is the fulfillment of the old (the law)but more than that; it is the teachings on the Ministry of Christ and the Way of life for the Christian to follow.

If I were Pope, to make the ship run a little smoother, I would suggest that new Christians learn & walk a given path towards maturity instead of the present tossed-salad; since that's what happens anyway in regards to maturity.

1. Since Christ is your Savior and life & time is short; spend all of your free time (not just a Sunday-pew) at learning the Gospels inside and out.
2. Next spend the rest of your life trying to live the rest of the New Testament by taking it to the "need"(in whatever form)around you.
3. Only After a few years of NT immersion, would you head back in time to the Psalms, Job and the rest to take a look and learn. The OT is a gold-mine but was not intended as a manual for the Christian.
4. Since "today will have enough trouble of its own" don't highlight the triumphs and failures of yourself and others; you better keep striving with the 2 golden rules for the people around you, because it's true...life is a vapor.

Hm summary of what? When you die and ascend to heaven. You will meet Jesus, and He does not ask what your church is.

Jesus condenms the false prophets, that is, they are a false teacher, and teach false.

Jesus also condenms assistants. For example, they pretend to fall over and say saw Jesus appear. There is no play in the matter with the faith.

I somehow managed to live in a society where most people consider themselves as Christians, so I think I can't really avoid it.

But it's in the Bible, which WAS meant for Christians. And many Christians are using it as their moral code. Are you going to defend it as well or maybe this time you'll admit you don't agree with that?

Attacking your religion isn't and won't be the same as insulting you.

If only by the followers, it wouldn't be that bad. In my country, however, many people depend on local priests, who often can't use the Bible wisely anyway. And I think that's much worse.

I repeat, Christians should look at the NT for guidance, not the OT which is mainly the letter of the old law. We no longer need the old law.

It's in the Bible because without things like the Genesis account and the prophets as texts, Christianity wouldn't have a solid foundation.
