(Idea) equippable equipments visible on heroes

Wouldn't it be nice if you could see equipments you have gained on your hero. It would add to the diversity of the game in meny ways and make your hero more unique. The basic hero model would need to be nerfed in order to get the desired effects from this feature.
Another note: all equipments would have a separate tear and blood appearances and each equipment would have diffrent appearance for every faction to match the faction's style.

I posted this on the original forums, but I wanted to know what you folks here at Heroes Comunity thinks about it.

While it isn't going as far as OP would expect, there are Legacy weapons in game, and they DO appear on hero models. So if you equip the Sword of the Griffin, your hero will happily wave it around.

Since there will be limited amount of such weapons, this can be done without wasting too much resources. I find it to be a nice middle ground.

Agreed, though facial differences, and minor details could make huge depth, kind of like in one of the inferno scenarios in H5, where 3 heroes closed up on you in the middle.

I don't know about displaying every artifact - but certainly, if your hero doesn't have a shield, he shouldn't carry one on his model.

Maybe something like (don't hurt me!) what they did in Heroes 4, where your hero could have a shield and a sword that would appear.  Maybe let each hero start with a "generic" sword and shield, which you can then replace or remove with better equipment.  So, for example, you could have a two-handed sword that prevents you from using the shield slot...

...Oh, right.  Sorry, guys - I've been playing too much Baldur's Gate.

When I think about it, could be too time consuming. Then I thought: How about if the hero would change appearences based on levels and Item worn. So I say when somewhat combined level, Items worn and skills gained by another methods number would exceed certain number the hero appearences would change to a more powerful version. How many version the hero has depends on availability of  resources at Black Hole.

I thought about this feature when I started working on my future H7 proposal.

But in the end, I figured at that NO. It would look horrible. Only the sets would look good. It would look horrible if your hero had 5 different artifact, and each one had a different colour. Your hero would look like a clown.

I do think that it is a good idea to let weapons and possibly shields be visible.

I also think that there should be a "Create a Hero" tool. If you had a tool like that, having different faces for all heroes wouldn't be a problem.

Finally, it would be cool if your heroes appearance changed as you leveled. So a Level 1 hero doesn't look exactly the same as a Level 30 hero. It would give you a sense of progression, especially in the campaign.

I meant how you can customize your character with different facial features, hair and skin types etc like in Oblivion and WoW etc.

In Battle of Middle-Earth II they had a cool but limited create a hero tool, you could recolour the armor.
