Should I buy heroes 6?

I enjoy Heroes III and I enjoy Heroes V even more.

Some other games I like are games from the "total war" series (like Rome total war) and the Final fantasy series. Dragon age origins is not my favorite but it's good and Assassin's creed gets a hoot and a howl from me. Some other strategy games like "Command and Conquer" and "Star craft" are also favorites of mine.

Knowing what kind of games I like can anyone help me to decide weather to buy Heroes 6 or not?

Wait until the game is released.
Read all the reviews.
Read all the fanrage/praise on the forums.
Then decide.

Personally I think it looks crap. It needs moar unique skilltrees and awesome townscreens.

No. You may stop enjoying the series soon after.

Still, if you're into C&C or Starcraft, it's more like it

Is it so bad? I read various opinions about, never tested.

When H3 was out, many refused to convert to it, for n reasons, but after a while they adopted it. Also aren't they supposed to patch it until is fixed? Or they just don't listen to complaints?

If you like story-driven games, then H6 "might" please you for the duration of the campaign. If you like strategy games, you might want to look elsewhere.

Simply put, H6 is a HoMM for people who don't want to use their brains (for people who found the previous HoMM games too complicated ... ).

I find this game to me more complicated than previous HoMM games,
but that might be because of the clumsy interface and too many creature abilities.

My opinion - Heroes 6 is the best game in series. Multiplayer balance look much better compared to H5, is not ideal for now, but promice to be good. Duel mode is incomparable better compared to H5.
As multiplayer user i miss the most the simultaneous turns, no RMG, no real ranking on UBI server, no Sylvans.
Conclusion - to buy but to keep pressure on developer ...

That's a loaded question as it is hard to tell which complaints are serious and which fall into the category of whining And heroes is not a series that can be objectively rated, some features you either like or not. H6 has been more ambitious than H5 and introduced a few new things, reduced micromanagement, shifted the focus on the heroes and tactical combat. That has sped up the gameplay though some are not all too happy about the towns looking more streamlined, the reduction of rare resources or the fact that you can recruit your units from any town or fort in your area of control.

just try the demo, if you kinda like it then buy the game...
forums are not the best places for such a questions (at least not on this stage of h6), as some ppl are afraid of change, some hate it and nothing will change their minds, some are not sure and some think it's good.

but there is tons of new features and such adjustment takes time for most ppl, so either decide for yourself based on demo or come back in a year

I can answer your question with a question instead: Did you like Heroes 4?

Let me explain. Heroes 3 and Heroes 5 share many common features that have been changed or removed from Heroes 6. The only other game that did some many changes to the series, was Heroes 4 and for that it was disliked by many fans.

How did you feel about it? Did you like despite of it breaking the traditional gameplay style of the Heroes series? If you did, then you have a fair chance of liking Heroes 6. If not, then the possibility is you're not gonna like Heroes 6 either.

@Kodial79

Wait a minute. H4 and H6 are like opposite sides of the moon. H4 is the dark side. H4 was simply bad experiment like Forge and it should be simply forgotten.

However, H6 is different story. Probably it won't be awesome at the release but it will be by a lot better than H5, and probably by a lot more balanced than H3.

It this week they will tell us something about new Town Screens, so buy it, and maybe we will get the best Heroes game... after a while..

Currently, in my opinion it is better than H3 in some solutions. But it lacks H3 "rich-fulness". But this can be added with time.

If you happen to like funny (yet borderline offensive) accents, then H6 is the game for you

First things first: Forge wasn't fail (these kids that didnt want it were idiots and they are the real fail) and obviously H4>>>H6 so far.
IMO - dont buy it.

OP said he liked Heroes 3 and Heroes 5 even more. Heroes 5 essentially is a 3D remake of Heroes 3, albeit a bit poorer and a scarce few novelties. Heroes 6 is entirely different and therefore, there's no telling that he will like it if he just offers as an example Heroes 3 and 5. So I offered Heroes 4 as an example, another game that dared make changes to the series. If he liked Heroes 4 then he's open to changes, if not then it could either be because he likes the traditional gameplay of Heroes 3 and 5 or because of the fact that Heroes 4 is plainly a bad game. If it's the latter, he still has a chance of liking Heroes 6. But it all boils down to wether he liked Heroes 4.

I plan to wait until after the first patch, and then see what people say.  If there are still complaints about the things I'm concerned about, I'll wait until the second patch.  If people are still complaining about those things, I'll wait until the third patch.  And so on.

I don't plan to buy a game that isn't what I want.  That said, if after hearing people's gripes you say, "That's not such a big deal, is it?" then chances are these gripes aren't important to you, in which case, I say go ahead and buy it.

Right now my connection is too slow (that will change in time), however even if I did have a good connection I am sure that something would go wrong if I tried to download that demo.

Note I also cannot download mods even though I tried many times and for heroes 5 I could not download the creature creator thing,(I was able to use map editor for a little while though).

Given my computer skills getting a computer game off of something like "Steam" is the most complex task I can take on. At any rate I am grateful for all the input I have received.

To respond to some points brought up, I enjoy story driven RPG games if the story in the game is good. I do not like slightly offensive accents and I am puzzled as to why they would be in the game. I like strategy and I like managing cities and kingdoms (hence I liked the total war games).

I have never played H4 because I do not have the right graphics card...or something. As things stand I will have to adopt the wait and see attitude that people have suggested. I have heard many bad things though...
