I don't know what he posted, due to the edit so I cannot tell you exactly why I typed what I did. All I can tell you is that I felt justified doing so at the time

I actually managed to email back saying that I posted his email on the forum and that he could read the comments. I also told him I wasn't going to accept his apology as I don't believe a word he said. He hasn't emailed me back but then I am not expecting him to.

My reasoning, or "the point" supporting my suggestion can be found in the same post I make my suggestion on the previous page.
Now, I hope you don't mind, and if you do, then please forgive me, that I won't be addressing any comments anyone might have about my suggestion, as I'm not interested in creating nor participating in a discussion on this matter.
I would merely like to hear the opinion of a moderator able to actually make such change.
I think in the best case possible, the change will be for nothing and said mod will have lost a few seconds making that change.
In the worst case scenario, new users might feel betrayed that thread like those lay around.
I have personally stumbled upon many threads in various common ways, rather old threads. Fortunately for me, none of those threads would lead up to such an emotional rollercoaster of which the thread in question is, just to find out it was all (maybe) a lie. All in all, I think it'd be most fair to make out some sort of warning regarding threads like these within said thread, I hope the people who actually felt betrayed by Duke will symphatise with this idea.

I have not really been here much, so I do not know much about this. As somebody who does have legitimate health issues, I do have something to say about this.
I understand liking the attention, I understand the need for sympathy. Duke does have my sympathy, illness or no, because everybody needs a little attention sometimes.
I can be a drama queen, and I can be an attention seeker. What Duke did is wrong, but I understand. I do not agree with it, I do not like it, but I understand.
One of the many reasons (college, work, and life in general) I stopped visiting as much was simply because I knew people were tired of my complaining. Sympathy is ok, but it does also get old after awhile.
Don't be too hard on Duke. He is only human.

I am sorry Duke played on your sympathies. That is the one thing I do not understand, and it is not my place to forgive. You have a bit more at stake in this then others, and I for that I am deeply sorry.
Just do not let him take from you that. That empathy and good nature. That willingness to lend a shoulder and an ear. I know it is hard not to..but don't. It would be a tragedy.

Some thought Duke & Mentat were different people.
All we are talking about is the truth about both members/1 person.
So you want the truth to be changed?
There is nothing wrong with the name of this thread.
It regards Duke.
It also involved mentat as well, if she was real or not.
The issue was a part of Mentat.
You just think he is innocent which is why your trying to get people to vote for this crap.
How are people getting offended by certain names?
I never heard any complain about a threads name.
The only person I heard complain is you.
THEN AGAIN YOUR THE ONLY ONE WHO BELIEVES DUKE, SO THIS MAKES YOUR IDEA IRRELEVANT!

He wants the name of the thread where Duke told he had cancer to be changed, so people don't start reading through it only to find out it's a lie.
