Yeah let's play games on our phones on a tiny screen when I could do it on an actual TV and on a console. Waste of money...people who buy them for that kind of stuff, stuff like gaming, hd, lots of ram and so on only do it just to be like everybody else and have the newest toy. Waste of time and money.

That's not a very good argument, it's like saying: I don't need a mp3-player, i can listen to music on my stereo at home or i don't need a laptop, I can work at home at the desktop computer...
And when i follow your words right you say people who don't buy smartphones for the good hardware, and for game or the like and only use a 400 Euro Device for SMS and hpone only are smart?

The new iPhone 5 is nice, though expensive. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is what I'd recommend if you want an Android phone.

Actually, if you have enough money to spend I would advice to buy the lg handy that Adrius mentioned

The Galaxy Nexus is cheaper and doesn't have the manufacturer-added junk that comes with most Android phones.

Cheaper? In europe, the nexus is about 100 euro more expensive compared to the ace 2.

@Zeki

I checked the german forum you said earlier:
Two questions pop up in my mind:
Do you have any problems or issues with phone signal? I just tested, my phone single does change from 2 bars to 3 bars.
My old garbage nokia does not have SIGNAL issues. Amaizing, this is a ripoff.
Others in that forum already reported this. Damn if it is a melon product like the iphone 4 was.

The other issue is that the phone stops and starts up again. This did not happen to me but others reported this.
I am really, really considering sending the phone back as I have a few days left to send it back.

snowing hell, why cant I buy something that does not screw me over later.
If this is true, than my fears came true. Budget smartphones are a big screw up.

http://www.android-hilfe.de/samsung-galaxy-ace-2-i8160-forum/

edit:

And then I read this:
http://www.sammobile.com/2012/09/24/samsung-to-update-11-phones-and-4-tablets-to-android-4-1-1-jelly-bean/#.UGBBT866pJA.twitter
Maybe I should stop caring at all and just be happy.
Afterall, I dont have the issues with the phone restarting. Phone signal did not stop me from talking to people around me or far away.
But ratinally speaking, if it is common, it is bound to happen "Sigh".

edit2:

Did a phone signal test.
I used this APP

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appall.phonereceptionmonitor&hl=en

It just confirms my doubts. The phone's signal , its around 55% when its just above my table. When I hold it on my hand, or put it close to my head, it loses even more signal strength, it fluctuates around 25% and 29 percent.
Eventhough the app might be way off, its something you can see for yourself.
Same goes for the WiFI coverage. I have made my notebook into a virtual wireless acess point, in otherwords into a hotspot, password protected.
My phone literally being on the face of the notebook, and that app says  signal coverage is 85%.

Obviously, the guys who made this phone put a garbage antenna inside.
The problems are simmilar to the issues of iPhone 4 and its antenna issue.

I went out in the open and tested it, was rainy outside before, no signal issues now.
With no 3G, its at -60dBm, thats perfect. With 3G its around 75 to 80, not bad.
So yeah, I freaked out for no reason.

Disabling 3G increased the signal strength from -91 to -71 DB, that is inside a flat. Less DB is better.
Oh, you can do the same test, and check if your phone has a "Death Grip".
Check this site:

I was comparing the Galaxy Nexus to the Optimus 4X. Compared to the Galaxy Ace, the Galaxy Nexus runs a newer version of Android, is faster, has a much nicer screen, and doesn't come with manufacturer-preinstalled junk. It's more expensive, though.

@ Seraphim
Just chill dude, everything's okay So you said you didn't had any problems with phoning other people so why bothering with a lower signal than with your old phones? As someone said last page dunno who, smartphones are allrounders but they aren't extremely good at something, too. So it could be totally possible,  that your old phone was simply better at this. If you want everything ro be perfect, you'll have to pay hundreds of euros and even then there'll be some flaws.

On the point with the wifi, for me the phone has a really  good signal, better than my old huawei or some tabletts i have. I wouldn't trust these signal apps too mauch on this point, just try it out by gooing further away from your router.

It's great that it's more or less confirmed that our phone'll get a jelly bean update, though i don't know how much inpact it'll have since i'll use go launcher anyway

EDIT
And my phone restarted only once which is a big improvement to my old huawei (again) Even back then when my old phone crashed like once a every one or two weeks i still could live with it.

Its not a router with an antenna, its just my notebook. Notbooks have integrated WiFi antennas.
Its area coverage is garbage but anyways, thanks for the suggestion.

Some people still doubt that eventhough it has been said from sammobile.com. I really doubt that sammy would go into public and put some redundant phones for the 4.1 jelly bean update.

Hmm, its really weird.
I did have a phone before,VK 2200, that shutdown after changing signal recieved from antennas.

When I traveled from city A to city B, there were different antennas on the journey so, the mobile phone shut down.
It was interesting to witness that happening.

Same for your phone, I believe it is linked to software issues but seeing that it never happened to me, probably will, who knows...

The complaint in the german forum was interesting, the guy who complained said that his phone restarted while it just being over the table.
One more thing, all of those guys that complained there said that they have the NFC capable version. I dont have the NFC capable version.
Do you have the NFC version? Out of my ignorance I assume it might have to do with the NFC.
Also, I restarted my phone every 2 days, maybe I did not leave it open enough to see system crashes from happening.

I don't have the nfc version, too.(What for actually?) Actually now i also remember that there were problems with the nfc version that weren't on the phone without it, so here we're lucky

I think the one time the Ace 2 restarted it was caused by an app, don't remember wich though.
And i think the reason why the ideos x3 restarted so often is, i think, bacause i just demanded to much from it

Or a system crash, bad memmory, corrupted storage space and everything else could be possible. I really hope that this is not a common thing.

Dont hold your breath about the 4.1 update. Sammmobile.com seems to be also based on "Insider" knowledge. Which means that the site is not official and they probably got the news from facebook aswell...
Yeah... I dont expect anything.

I am pretty sure it was an app causing the crash on the Ace2 so you relly shouldn't worry about it and a restart isn't something very rare and dangerous, too.
On the  other side i think all of the thinks happened to my hauwei back then

Well, I wasn't too excited anyway, i mean, yeah, it would be nice to have 4.1 but it's running just fine right now. And if i hold my breath on this i would be dead right now, i think.

I dont know if somebody read the news but apple iphone 5 has reached over 5 million sales in the first three days. And according to apple, the reason why it did not sell more is because of limited supply.

Source

Quote:

Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White said the phone was sold out at 80 to 85 percent of the U.S. Apple stores he and his team contacted Sunday evening, and the ones that were still available were mostly Sprint models.

Source 2

So a safe bet would be that 80% of the buyers are americans, which is not surprizing.

What I want to rant about is why people buy iphones? My conclusion:Show off value.

"HEY, I got a new hiPhone" Personally, I saw somebody using an iphone and I could spot that guy in a kilometer away. He was a douche, a hipster.
Sorry, I may be prejudiced here but seriously,
Who in the right mind would pay more for something you can get the same from the cheaper competition?

Somebody got smart in the past and made an app that does nothing and costs around 1000 dollars.
1000 dollar app
When one considers that the target audience is dumb, this works perfectly.

Iphones are extremely expensive gadgets that dont deliver anything of value compared to the competition. While some reports say that the iphone 5 cpu is the fastest one on the market, that will hardly make it more worth while than the competitions phones.

Does any HC member use an iphone? I would love to hear the reason why?

I know one good thing about Iphones... their touchscreens are really really precise. Very easy to type on them.

Because of their "amagod got to have the latest one" appeal, you can also get older Iphones really cheap... so ya can get what was earlier an overpriced but very high quality gadget for a great price.

Barely any difference between the 3/4/5/whatever anyway.

Keep in mind that it's also a pretty good mp3 player - well, obviously not iriver quality, but it's ipod quality, which is 200x better than a typical mobile phone mp3 player.

And keep in mind that for an American, Iphone is probably not very expensive. And it really has a good touch screen, some people (i.e. me) really like to text others instead of calling them, and a great capacitive touch screen as opposed to clumsy resistive touch screen is a blessing here.

So, if I were American, I'd get an Iphone probably, since it's pretty comfortable, and saves a slot in your pocket you'd normally use for an mp3 player, and if it costs a fraction of what you earn, why not?

However, as a piss poor Pole, I don't have it, never plan to get it and laugh at Polish hipsters who buy Iphone taking a three year debt. Lol Just to say "I own an Iphone". Kids...

i own a nokia 5800. It was cheap, and despite having a resistive screen, it's great for typing. I can type an sms at amazing speeds on it (not using qwerty tough, I prefer T9 prediction).

Lithuania's phone companies have this annoying habit of calling their customers and offering them smartphones at "reasonable" prices. The question is, why the hell do I need a smartphone with a GPS and other things. maybe it's usefull, yea, butI'm not a moron who gets lost in his own damn city. And I don't need a 24 month contract with them. If I wanted a smartphone, I'd go to the store and buy that piece of crap. Why to rub it on my face and offer something that I just simply don't need? Worst part is, that most of these calls are made because other company wants to woo you over with their "cheap" talk-plans and "deals you can't refuse".

@Doom: I agree with you. Just because I find smartphones useless and squishy doesn't mean that I envy the motherbeeper who owns one of them. Also, taking a lease to buy some crappy phone is stupidity at it's finest. The same would be as I would take one of those "cash in 10 minutes or less" leases and just drink it all away at a pub.
I'd invest my money elsewhere than rather buy some crap that I won't use to it's full extent.

Stuff like this really sucks, good thing this is forbidden in germany by law.
Actually the "tricked" my grandpa in Bulagria with something like this, good thing is the contract and the phone were actually usefull for him.

Well, though you're right at this point other phones have good screens too(alot have, really). I also type very much sms with my friends and i could never do this at this speed as i do now with a iphone, because with android (and maybe also windowsphone, dunno) one can choose between different keyboards, i for examlpe use swype which isn't avaliable in the ios.
Furthermore the iphone might have a better sound driver or whatever this is called but i really don't thing it's sound is so much superior to other phones and again i have the big freedom of installing third party music player apps, which are really good. The last time i used my mp3 player was when my old phone broke and it was a real pain in the a**.
My first touchscreen portable had a resistive screen too. What i loved about it was that i could use my nails(which can be a bit longer than normal sometimes) for typing and i know some girls with long fingernails who cannot use a capazitive screen for writing sms so there still is a reason for resistive screens to exist.

Its not as simple as capacitive vs resistive, its good capacitive vs good resistive vs the mediocre and bad versions. Its similar to a thing that happened with the handheld marked back during the 90s: Most of them forgot to have enough battery life, so most of them fell flat against the Gameboy(b&w monochrome) because of exactly this reason.
