@JJ: So? Change it then. 10% chance to dodge a magic attack, perhaps? Immunity with a cooldown ala Out of Time?

Ok, so Black Dragons, more or less, confirmed. Good. I like Black Dragons, they're my favorite kind.
Problem JJ proposed? Valid.
Black Dragons immune to magic. Yes, it is tradition. Anything else? ................... Nope, not realy. It's not realy based on anything other than tradition.
Possible solution? Do what they did with the Emeralds in Heroes V. Make them immune to the element of their parent/patron. Emeralds immune to Earth -> Blackies immune to Shadow.
Not saying it will happen, I'm no insider. But it is possible(I assume), it makes sense, doesn't break with the tradition much. Everyone happy.

I still wouldn't be so rash as to say that Black Dragons are "confirmed" as the Dungeon Champion. The link that Storm-Giant provided states only that the Dungeon campaign will involve Raelag getting support from the Black Dragons. I still think they will only be campaign characters (like the Faceless in Vanilla), lending aid in the campaign, but the Faceless will be the Dungeon Champions.
(I would have absolutely no problem being wrong about this)

Black Dragons were always a killer unit with full magic immunity, and it was acceptable. Sure they were devastating, but not unbeatable. In addition, they weren't cheap, so you simply get what you paid for (remember the price in Heroes IV, it was adequate).
Then again, the whole physical/magic attacks thing was not to my liking from the beginning. It makes things overcomplicated (all this "how much my spell will actually damage an enemy cr@p to be precise). Attacks should be attacks, spells should be spells. But in the wake of what we have in Heroes VI the magical immunity could really be a problem, so as JJ says either a damage reduction or an element immunity.
PS: For me a Heroes game without dragon units is an atrocity . AND in fact, in Heroes VI we practically don't have any buyable dragon units, so it would be nice to have at least two types (from two factions)...

The champion could be a mix of some sort like faceless that sport dual forms, beeing able to turn into avatars of Malassa. The champion could also be a mix of the classic black dragon and hydras, with multiple heads and a mix of their classic abilities. Would fit well with the lore of malassa, hundred faces and all that.

It would be cool if when you started the town actually had more rock, and as you built buildings they were carved into the rocks. So there would be this big lump where the dragon statue would go, and you would be waiting to chisel it out the whole game.

That's what I've been thinking too. And since faceless can shapshift anyway...

It looks like Dungeon could focuse on reducing moral, This could actually be a fun strategy. I loved the combination of Mass despire and teror in the original game, but there were rather few ways how to reduce enemy moral, apart from these two spells...

Those things look sick, liking Dungeon more and more now. An actually good job of mixing black and purple this time, neither of it looks overdone. Although the unit does look a bit similar to Breeders.

So I guess this is the core – Minotaur, Stalker and Lurker?
I prefer more Minotaur to be elite but perhaps it would be core.
For elite I guess will be Manticore, some Faceless/Shadow Elemental and the second dark elf this chick
For champion blacky
