5 years. Both DLCs take place 1 year after HVI, not DoC.

That is why the Aprox. was there. I do no recall seeing any dates in the story. And Still miss the feature to replay the story in that game.

IIRC when you meet Crag Hack, he says that it has been 5 years since he saved Savage Islands from Medusa (so it would be 6 years after HVI, not 5 as I wrote).

taking a guess here, but i think the dungeon's racial ability will have to do with transparency judging from their dynasty weapon "assassin's blade" any other ideas?

Maybe something that makes units invisible (bigger level greater tier)? It would be a bit similar to Heavens Guardian Angel. Looking on their slavery thing, maybe something that sacrifices units to gain attack power (maybe not physically sacrificing them, because Dungeon is known for their expensive units)? Or a massive debuffing/poisoning maybe? Those are my ideas...

I love like to see a Dwarf town! But not with so much dwarven units, with valkyries, with magma dragons and with frost giants

An upcoming Dwarf Fortress, whenever that may be, will likely have Fire Giants, Valkyries and Bears, next to the Dwarves. Magma Dragons are possible, but it might turn it into Fire overkill.

Quote:
What exactly are valkyries in Ashan?
Renegade seraphs with harpy wings? On fire?

According to the Compendium (I know it's starting to get old, but it's the only source we have) Valkyries are Fire Spirits, manifestations of Arkath's wrath. Valkyries appear as female humanoids with an ashen body and wings and hair of fire and runic tattoos over her body. Valkyries are born when Dwarves die a heroic death in battle. Their souls gather before Arkath who blesses the souls to fuse together and spark a Valkyrie into life.

i think fortress was not thought out much. fire to me is more of a signature element for the inferno. when valikyries start to look like succubi there is a problem. in general as it was stated fortress is the least loved faction. i'd rather see another faction, but i think that's impossible by now. even if they skip the fortress i'll be cool with eight factions.

I agree with chris above, we have succubis, why we need fire haired valkyries? That's easy for homm-makers so they can copy the succubi model?

I think valkyries suit more with haven but valkyries with dwarves doesn't make sense as why would the spirit be female if a male creature dies, and then turn up to be some succubi-clone creature? Let me guess it will be a sexy female aswel? Lol a ugly dwarve will turn into a beautiful succubi.. that is so blackhole...

I also agree the inferno is red and fire already, they could make the dwarf town ice based instead, keeping this ashan-mythology isn't nessesairy, the other older homm parts also changed dramasticly every game so why this games must stay the same all the time?

And a dark forest town would be my favorite town! I saw somebody make this town in the wishes forum, with barghests, kelpies, redcaps and other english myths, I really like english myths, so instead of a dwarf town maybe they can try something new for a third expansion, or bring back lizardmen.

Trust me, Valkyries only resemble Succubi in the fact that they are female. Other than that, there are more than enough differences.

Link See for yourself here.

Also, Ubisoft is hardly going to change their continuum since they have put so much effort into it. This is here for a long time. They aren't as compelled as 3do to change everything everytime. 3do hardly had any guidelines about anything, especially in the beginning. (Marzhin talks about this in the Behemoth lair interview) Ubisoft is determined to do this their way and consistenly. Factions are very unlikely to get a complete overhaul.

Sure, the succubi are sexy. If you're into transexual men in drag.
So if it's true that male dwarves turn into female humanoids (no doubt with the same size proportions as most female units),
then they are similiar in more ways than one, at least to me.

That is a a bit foolish, guz in that way the fans won't get what they want.

If the fans (and many did) dislike a dwarven faction with fire maidens and bears in it they will never like it, and if they are too stubborn to change it because of some book and mythology then its a big problem.

haven't seen them yet, but from the description that says "fire hair, female, wings, fire" the first thing that comes to mind is succubi:/
still yes i hate this faction but they are trying to "solidify" ashan, they cannot change things all the time. but they can give a revamp to the fortress, like, less dwarves, more magic creatures (like they did with dungeon). as for their elemenent, i hope they get creative there and give the dwarves' fire a different ability from immolation. like a tiny percentage of defence reduction. still i want to see even less short bearded men in the future.

The Valkyries and Fire Giants are new, bears arent but there were never complaints about bears. The predominant reason people disliked Fortress was that it was 6 dwarves and a Dragon. Ashan Dwarves have always been attuned to fire, that was never a problem untill now. The problem was the great amount of Dwarves and they are tuning that down now.

Fortress will never be ice based. Dwarves worship the Fire Dragon God, not the Ice God that doesn't even exist. In Homm 5, the tier 5, 6 and 7 units were all fire based (well, Thanes had a lightning alternate...). Also i remember reading somwhere that Dwarves live very close to the Gate of Sheogh (correct me if i'm wrong), and thus close to earth's core and the Demons. I would have no problems with a Valkyrie. I actually kinda like the fire theme of Fortress and i would love a Fortress faction in Heroes 6.

There already is a fire-themed faction in H6: Inferno.

I don't like two fire based factions, one is enough, if not red starts to overwhelm the game.

I like the dwarves but not the ashan dwarves.

EDIT: they spoiled it for themselves by giving all the factions only one colour exept for the orc town which is the best, they should have done that to all factions not this color thing which is kinda ugly and kidsy.

The dungeon is another purple faction, the sancturary is blue, the inferno red, the necro is green and haven is yellowish...  so that would make the mages probably another darker blue and the dwarves red or if we are lucky orange...

well there are only 6 elements of magic in the game and more factions.some will have to share as i said they must get creative and give the dwarf fire some other abilities than inferno, and make inferno abilities more chaotic and dinstinct, although i think in a way they are.

Inferno isn't Fire. It's CHAOS or Urgash.
Their realm is rather firy, but they hve nothing to do with the Element Fire. That's the Dwarves. God Arkath.
Haven is Light or Elrath.
Sanctuary is Water or Shalassa.
Dungeon is Dark or Malassa.
The Elves are Earth or Sylanna
Necro is Order or Asha.
Academy is Air or Ylath.
Stronghold is neither of them but "Father Air and Mother Earth".

So actually it's all pretty neat.

Dwarves get Steel Grey, with red and gold accents.

Another factor that is readily forgotten is that Fire is not Inferno's primary element. I admit, that it is portrayed rather poorly, but Fire is secondary to Inferno. Inferno's primary element(insofar as you can call it that) is Chaos. Chaos magic is the corruption of Primal magic.
Shadow magic has something similar going on. Necromancers use a lot of shadow magic, yet it is secondary to their Order and Prime magic.

Inferno was rather fiery in H5, but I guess consistency starts with H6.
And what's this about Academy and air, I thought wizards didn't care about dragons...
