Well, i talked about game "beauty". A game can be beautiful and that giant with the snow enviroment is beautiful. I could also post some awesome painting/art about a scenery or mithology which is at least as beautiful as that pagan God, but i dont see the point why would i do that in the Age of Wonders 3 topic...

Believe or not, Kristoffer Osterman added this very god to Dominions 3 after I posted the image on the forum. The sprite is very similar. Not long after he added a new nation - Bogarus - which has strong slavic influences, complete with Baba Yaga, Likho, and KoĊciej the Deathless.
This makes it a game character, and the image concept art  .

I have read that Lore post about Giants, very cool and interesting stuff. That picture is also great.
There are few things that I dislike in it, one of them is Ogres being Human units. I would put Ogres with Orcs, Trolls with Goblins, and Yeti should stay with Frostlings. Anyway, it is not bad that Troll is with Orcs, but still I can't believe that they made Ogres Human units. :/
Other thing I dislike is Yeti having a Weapon, but that really isn't a big deal.
Overall, I am satisfied, and I can't wait for this game to be released.

Who said that the ogres will be with the humans? Giants mated with human women(Ogre) with orc women(troll) and with frostling women(yeti).But all giants come from the neutral giant's keep(except the horned giant for the arch druid)so they are neutral units, and serve the one who conquer or allied with them. In this picture an ogre unit bashing some human on the goblins side.

Well, that picture doesn't prove much, in this picture, Ogres are together with Humans(if those are Humans).
Still, I hope that you are right, and that those are just their origins. And I saw that Giants are neutral units, you will maybe be able to summon them with summoning magic.

Those are elves not humans.
Also, not just ogres but trolls also serving in that army.
The Giants's Keep
Giants and Giantkin live in the Giant's Keep; a new structure type, which is somewhat similar to normal cities, but is inhabited by monstrous creatures. The Giant's Keepis home to true Giants and the Giantkin: Ogres, Trolls, and occasionally the Yeti. You can gain control of the settlement by doing quests and improving relations with it. Of course you can also conquer the settlement, but you will need quite a force to do this.Acquiring the Giants Keep is a real achievement. Now you can start producing Giants that will give you not only very cool units, but also a great advantage, especially in city sieges. Several Boulder hurling and wall crushing Giants bring down the best city defenses
This desciption clearly said that giants and demi giants come from that building and they are not racial units.

Ok then, thanks. Didn't have time to read the whole article.
Don't know how I feel about it, I guess it is ok, a bit strange that every race will be able to get Yetis, Trolls and Ogres, and all of the Giants. Not necessarily bad, just need some time to get used to it.

I really looking forward to this! Too bad however there are mechanical units in this game and I think you shouldn't mix mechanical with fantasy.
But almost every game does this because the robot-lovers will not play the game otherwise.
I think its bad there will be mechanical units in this otherwise perfect game.

What do you mean by Mechanical units? There weren't mechanical units in AoW2 as far as I know? O.o
(If you don't count Steam Tank or something like that, but I don't see why those would be a bad things).

(In AoW III one of leader classes is Dreadnought. Yes, even Elves can have this steampunk leader.)
You mean your imagination doesn't reach that far ? Don't you like alternate history ?
- Ancient Greeks built steam engines, but they considered them silly toys with no practical use. Slave trade helped: Europeans had 300% return on investment for decades.
- Ancient Rome had the technology to build hot air baloons, but haven't invented it.
- Roman concrete, invented 2000 years ago, is more durable than modern concrete. Roman harbors still hold up well, while portland concrete falls apart after 50 years.
- The Chinese invented the printing press 500 years before Gutenberg. They abandoned the idea because it was impractical for Chinese writing, which often has 1 character for 1 word instead of letters.
- 800 years before Cristopher Columbus, the Chinese had ships advanced enough to reach America. But they abandoned distant journeys for... political reasons. The bureaucrat/court faction won and made building of 2-mast ships punishable by death. Why ? Because sitting on their asses and shmoozing they had nothing to gain from discovery of new lands and profitable trade. They were jealous.
- the Chinese also invented the crossbow much earlier than Europeans.

Excuse me but what does my imagination have to do with my dislike for robots and dragons? So I have to like these overused units and "fantasy" elements to have any imagination?
I just don't like modern technology or anything robot-like in my fantasy games, it was a very good thing the forge never made it into the expansion of homm3 for example.
My fantasy reaches much deeper, and every fantasy games uses robots and technology these days, all taken from final fantasy for sure or anything in that direction so you can't call it original anymore.
I like original units and monsters, i'm a bit tired of the units that appear everywhere, that is something I call low-on-imagination.
This what this game does wrong in my opinion, following the herd that screams for technology because normal fantasy isn't enough anymore.
Too bad.
And of course greek mythology has the Keledones and the Automatons and Talos the bronze giant, but those are very different from Terminators, guns, trains, tanks, WALL E's and lasers.

There is a really big difference between laser or rocket shooting robots(like the forge town in HoMM)or steam operated machines like in AoW or many fantasy world. And gunpowder technology or machines were part of the AoW lore from the beginning(musketeer, air galley, steam tank ect). Also 2000 years passed since AoW SM. It would be really stupid if there were no technological advancement. Still i didnt see any mechwarrior 3000 or transformers robots in AoW 3 just a steam operated machine. And that final fantasy metaphor was a big lol. Machines were part of the Warhammer fantasy or DnD long before even FF1 came out. So you dont like neither of those 2 fantasy setting because they have machines? Now im curious what is the good fantasy world in your opinion.

One that doesn't copy Final Fantasy and warhammer... D&D I never read that so I really don't know what monsters are in there and which not, I only know they use the most common monsters from the world (such as goblins, giant rats and minotaurs) and make them even worse.
THe Mechanical Dragon from homm4 is a big nono in my book and so is the skyship.
Golems I don't see that way, but mostly I would use Automatons myself, not Iron Golems, I like Stone Golems more.
Let me say I accept Iron and Steel in fantasy worlds (of course) but not steam tanks and all that stuff, I still buy the games but never play the faction that has those units, because of those units i'm not a big fan of dwarves in fantasy games, Dvergr on the other hand (norse evil dwarves) I really like and those replace their bodyparts with steel.

Then the problem is solved. For the campaign i would suggest the traditional Court of the High Elves to you, because the other side(The Commonwealth Empire) surely have some mechanical units.

Well I still think its a waste of space... I rather see a game with 6 factions that are more to my taste, every faction I ignore is a waste of my money and a waste of space for me personally (not thinking about what others want for now) :-p

As far as i know none of the 6 factions have mechanical units. Only the imperator class(formerly dreadnought)has some. So you can play with all the factions and ignore 1 class. On the other hand its an interesting statement. I didnt particularly like the tower or inferno factions in HoMM 3, still i never felt they are a waste of my money. In every game there are things i dont like it can be a race/class/weapon or an enemy but i dont see them a waste of space/money.

Yup, no halfings, good choice. Well, maybe they should've gathered the little vermin in ghettos or something like that but getting rid of them altogether is also a good choice. Now just bring the Shadow World through the back door and we're all cool.
