i changed the text to how it should be by opening up the erm file, fixing it, and saving it, but i'm not seeing the changed results, only the old script in-game. do i need to run an update somewhere for era to read the changes, or what?
also, for the eggs, how do i add a script to change subtype 18 from "egg", to "nest"? i want to do this with subtype 18 only, because it's a nest full of eggs, and not an egg itself.

i do start a new game every time, and i'm not seeing updated changes. i am changing the erm file under mods/fredsmaps/data/s.
i'll try your nest script and see if that works. thanks again.
also, the dragon arena's do not work as intended:

Then you didn't replace well. The file to replace is fred.erm, I upload it today morning. Remove your scripts from maps too.

i did nothing wrong on my end, and i'm using your test map. for some reason, it's not updating any changes i made to the script(including the changes i just made regarding the nest script you just posted). there are no other scripts in your test map, or in any of my maps, because i removed them after you made the bulk script for the s folder.
maybe i have to run the mod manager update to make changes? i'll try that.

yeah, i see the text in the script, but it's not displayed in-game. i can't get era to read the changes i made to the script AFTER installing my mod. i think i'll have to make another mod with the new script, and run the exe in order for era to even read it. tedius. very snowing tedious. this means me having the ability to make quick changes like i did with era 1.8, in era 3, went right out of the snowing window.

No, something wrong in your install then, never saw this problem before. Can you show a screen of your active mods in mod manager?
Also did you read and save fred.erm with the proper tool (editor erm)?

i made another upload with the updated files and ran the exe. everything seems ironed out now. i'll run some more tests to make double sure.
thanks again for your help and patience, sal. not sure why the scripts wouldn't update previously, though. i always use the erm editor to fix erm-file scripts.

They should update on the fly, unless you made some changes to Era 3, like replacing with some elements from 1.08. Just asking, to be sure everything is ok.

i'll run through everything to make sure everything is good, then trim the fat i included in the pac from h3bitmap that i didn't alter/use.
then, i just have to update some graphics, and everything should be ready to go.

the map mod's not ready yet. got a couple wog object wrinkles to iron out. on the plus side, i have all but one sulfur mountain mine fixed(including the strip mines). still need to delete unneeded files in the pac, but that won't take long. the release is right around the corner; barring the wog objects issue fix.
edit: deleted all the unneeded files in the pac. i'm still waiting on bersy to answer the hcm/post. once the wog object issue is fixed, the map mod should be ready to go. you'll find all my latest graphic work(some of it incomplete) in this mod; just not renamed for seperate use.
edit 2: while waiting on bersy, i realized what i had done wrong. retarded noob mistake; it wasn't with the mod, but the wog settings in era 3. and because i just ran through the wog objects to verify they work, i now know that i can add the mithril(silver) objects back to the pac/lod(which i had removed from 1.8 because of continous crashes with the mithril scripts). i think i might have slight work to do to some of the objects, but it won't take long. once those are done and the mithril is all renamed to silver in the scripts/txt files, i'll have an upload for the map mod ready. it's all on me now.

Bersy might not answer as he isn't visiting here often. Also, remove all scripts from Data/s except fred.erm, as such scripts might not crash with Era 3, and instead fix crashes on the fly, when testing (upload saves etc). There is no reason scripts would crash because graphics.

i need those script changes in order for my modified object graphics to work. they work just fine now; i was just being a retard and making a noob mistake with the wog settings.
now, i'm trying to use the search function and not able to. i found a post in the era 3 thread referring to a crash with the mithril script(s). i'm about to add all the mithril graphics back and make the final upload, but there won't be any point if the mithril script(s) cause a crash in-game.
so, is that mithril issue ironed out with era 3, or not? because the post in question is from november of this year. i don't want to go through the work if mithril doesn't work flawlessly(i also will have to replace some of the graphics because they aren't up to date with the newer resource graphics).
also, if mithril DOESN'T work, then i need to rewrite the wog scripts to accept another resource, instead of mithril, so that the wog objects can work as designed without crashing the game.

ok, the mithril/silver objects have been fixed and added, the zeobjts.txt has been modified to include them, the json file has been made, and the map mod now made. it is currently being uploaded; once it is done, i will make a thread and post a download link for everyone.
