right... spring, summer, autumn, late autumn, winter dressings would be nice...

i already replaced the tropical and beach trees for sand. once i'm done with the coniferous tree set(which is next), i'll be doing the snow tree set. i'm replacing all of the original trees. the rough trees already look good for the most part, that's why i'm leaving them for last. i'm getting rid of the ugliest ones first.

nearly done with the tree cluster defs. only issue i'm running into, is that they don't have the same contrast as most of the other stuff in-game, so they look a little foriegn to the game. i'll see what i can do to fix them. i also, after making these, realize that i can't stop now, i have to keep going. too many trees that are substandard, and on too many defs, as well.
edit: "substard"? wtf is "substard"? i really gotta stop posting when i'm half-asleep.
---------------
the new forests are coming along(just got done replacing the 3 "AVLXgr's". i have yet to work on the dirt versions):

This is absolutely beautiful and magical. Maps with your objects possess high level of artistry. It's a shame we have yet to wait for vcmi map editor, I am already gathering your best object for future use.

There should be definitly a monthly or quarterly map design contest amongst the forum members both in HotA and WOG category. (with main focus on design)
Sorry for the offtopic!

any map worthy of praise could never be designed in a such a short period of time. aesthetics + strategy are not something that are easy to come by quickly when building a map. it takes time; trial and error. and aesthetics/strategy are always improving; which means that to make the map the best, it is always changing. and if it's always changing, it most likely will never be released.

currently gathering all the best coniferous tree graphics i have from all the different folders of graphics from games i have stored. once i have a decent variation compiled(once i have found ALL the best graphics i have to work with, in other words), i will begin work to replace the coniferous tree and associated defs.

Are those trees in the released patch and where? I have a friend who is designing a new map for Heroes 3 and he uses fred's patch, but I think is old version. Can you upload the latest please?

Well, it sucks imo. The organization I mean. There is this guy, DoC Summan who is experienced mapmaker, and he started a map using your first patch, probably the one completed last year. So he sends me screens so I tell him to update patch, but then when he downloads new, there are conflicts with first and if he deletes old, some object on map he already placed are now not available.
So I tell him to use the newest patch, he asks me how it looks, I browse back 20 pages to find all those awesome pics with gold Buddha, valley of gold etc and all I see is Edit: image removed. Everywhere.
On first page, no image at all available. I have a permanent account to imageshack, which means I pay for having infinite time images showing. If you have host problems, why not give me your images so it stays forever.

As far as I know, the removal of all those images had something to do with Fred being somewhat paranoid about the folks at college he's going to attend being able to backtrack him to these forums through those images and then read his ... less socially acceptable postings. Of which he made many. Many many. I somewhat understand his fear, though.

this. sal, you're way behind the times. i raised the issue adequately quite a while back. also, if he wanted a mixed patch(with the old and the new), you should have relayed a message to me(or had him do it). i uploaded a patch that contains the old and the new stuff specifically for a couple people who asked, just so their maps would stay intact. it's some pages back; still there, i think. if not, i can always reupload it.
lol @ "many many".

i had thought i made a combined release with the last one; apparently it was the one prior to that. i'll make another one and upload it. shouldn't take long. guess not everyone is into continually upgrading/replacing graphics(after things change too much to use the same as before) with their maps like i am.
as far as the images go, i'm fine. i think i still have all the images associated with the work(+/- the new work done since then), but i'm hesitant to upload them. i don't even like posting screens anymore, really. but i'll have to. just to build hype.

ok, waiting for the patch, can you just release it tomorrow or will be later? Just to inform the guy wether wait a day or postpone for a while.
Also you can upload a rar folder with all the images you want. I upload them to imageshack then send you the links. I don't see how anyone can track your images when they are in my folder.

google can find any images posted anywhere. i found a lot of stuff that wasn't supposed to be found(i realized later) by the HotA team by just googling the right words.
as for the patch, i'm working on it. not sure how long it'll be(shouldn't be that long) to finish it. i think i did the last compilation patch the same day(within the hour, possibly?). i had to redownload my old patch(with the old layout) from mediafire, since i had deleted all the old stuff on my computer(but most likely had backups somewhere).

Well, I think is a pity to release graphical patches but without a single image to show possibilities. At least give me all images so I can add them to the mod structure so they will show in mod manager preview box. Then I upload to wakeofgods.org, cuz I am immune to CIA and KGB.
