Hard to imagine that such a small country could have such a ****ed up political system.

Very interesting answers here. Wow, it kinda irks me to think how corrupt the Eastern European governments are (certainly Russia, in which Putin is acting like a Tsar, and Belarus, in which Lukashenko is clearly a corrupt, iron-fisted Dictator), but wow, Poland and Bulgaria and the others that have been freed from Communist Tyranny? Sounds strange (except for Russia).

Makes me more glad to live in Australia.

I think such corruption happens when you mix corporate interests with people who used to be part of a politcial upper class in a communist, one-party state.

If you ever needed a proof that the American system of goverment is the best in the world, all you need look to is the fact that no matter how stupid the people are who run it, America's still a pretty damn awesome place to live.  It takes skill to design a system of government so good that it's hard to actually mess a nation up.

Politicians are rich businessmen, they invest in companies that put them into power, then in turn they make said fat cats even richer. >.<

I want to be a politician because that's where I know my place is. The fat cats can go hang, they can support me if they wish, and if not they best stay out of my way.

But...

... we do not have any real government now

Later the lie was clear and he was no more trusted,but way too late.

Tsar Simeon II was never trained to rule. He was in exile and his great father H.M. Boris III the Unifier was already dead. And actually... he was still the best prime minister after the communism.

François Hollande is basically playing theatre, by taking most likely inefficient, but very populist measures against rich to increase his popularity (which is close to non-existant)

Norway currently runs on raw nepotism for all major parties. It will be okay so long they do not do anything horrible, but they will in time, as their incompetence and lobby bribes piles up.

@Fauch and Salamandre,

I don't think I'll condone Francois Hollande for his relentless push on the legalisation of Gay Marriage in France, especially when a significant percentange went out to the streets of Paris and protested against it. Good on them!

And the 75% tax rate is VERY SCARY indeed (Then again, the French aren't known for their economic freedoms).

@del_diablo,

I think Norway has one of the better democracies in the world. I think you're just an anti-government anarchist.

Damacon_Ace: I think you misunderstand the word "anarchist" to a rather severe degree. Norways political system works because it has not messed up severely yet. However it is only a matter of decades before the nepotist corruption will ensure that somebody will sit in a position where the leftover "not fixed" issues will boil over and truely create a bad mess.
You also have the issue of the press polarizing the country, the mainstream parties accusing FRP of being a bunch of fascists, the Redgreen and the Citizen blocks winning elections per defaults and just changing lots of major issues like how school is suppose to work just for the sake of symbolism, the house marked is over inflating, and a whole bunch of other sad issues.

What Norway have is not a good democracy, but a history of stability, and the state taking advantage of nationalization of the oil, and the working class winning the classwarfare in a symbolic way, and generally the oil fixing issues that would otherwise make us worse than Sweden.

We hate them Or at the least thats the joke.
For legacy, Norway did worse than Sweden before we got the oil. Then we got the oil, nationalized it, and payed off the state debt.
The actual joke is that we do better than Sweden due the oil, but Sweden is mostly doing fine, even with its internal problems.

Is there any western european state which is messed up by this definition? If not, why is their place to live worse than America?

I'm not sure what is scary about it. do we really need those richs? but it most likely won't achieve much, it's more of a symbolic measure to get the support of the classes he is supposed to represent. he doesn't really act like a socialist, more the contrary actually.

what is more scary is ignoring problems with the UE and the euro and accepting the "golden rule" when he said he wouldn't do so.

the debate about gay marriage is mainly a way to divert people from the essential, the EU and the banks. not even sure he really cares about the outcome, maybe he is just paid to make sure the debate goes on.
