Getting into Heroes III
Hello guys,
I am a great Heroes IV fanatic, but since a majority of players claim the superiority of Heroes III, which I own, I thought: "Why not try Heroes III?"
The problem is I was not instantly grasped in awe by Heroes III.
Which campaigns or missions, preferably with a good story, do you guys suggest I play so I can emerse in the Heroes III universe?

Heroes Chronicles (chapters 1-8) are good in terms of plot. Each chapter represents a well-developed campaign on Heroes III engine. In addition Heroes Chronicles connect the plot lines between Heroes III and Heroes IV.

The Chronicles are not that great as some user-created maps, but yes I also recommend first play the chronicles until you become more experienced and then try some challenging fan made ones.

"Not that great", you are very generous. Chronicles are rather weak campaigns and have zero serious action. I did not even dare to read the story, words do not make good game. SoD campaign is not bad IMO.

Chronicles, they're not among the best maps I ever played, in fact most of them were forgettable action-wise. But for the story and for a new player Chronicles is OK in my opinion.

I can tell that you might enjoy all the AB campaigns. Each of them is unique and pretty demanding. Actually, I completed all the RoE and AB campaigns, while I didn't have patience to finish all of SoD's ones.

Perhaps some people misunderstood what I meant by Heroes III:
I meant Heroes of Might and Magic III
Or perhaps I did not properly understand the answers

It just depends on your play skill refering to games like HoMM.
If you are aware of these kind of games, the starting Heroes 3 game, "Restoration of Erathia" is quite easy and is normaly just for getting used to all the creatures and their strength and weaknesses.
If you think you have a good level of palying games like Homm and know all the creeps very well, I suggest to play Heroes 3, "Shadow of death" (SoD), which has campaigns of high difficulty.

Heroes Chronicles is a set of special campaigns from HoMM 3. But you can also take angelito's good advice and forget about the chronicles at first.

The Heroes Chronicles discussion might have been slightly confusing, they are seperate chapters that are part of Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
