Skalf downed the last of his ale.
"I'll think about retirement by the time your grandchildren will be having grandchildren. And if I get to call the price, then the Brotherhood will pay me my going rate for each hit. If I need to take out those ten yesmen one at a time, the Brotherhood will pay me ten times my going rate."
He took a long draw from his pipe and almost bathed the tabletop in the smoke when he exhaled.
"I work best alone, so if your mates are going to involve themselves, they best be prepared to do things my way. If you agree with that, all I need to know is who needs to be killed, how and when."

Skar returned to the inn, drenched in rain. bloodmarks could be seen on his gauntlets as well as face.
- Allright, that bugger will trouble us nor reveal our plans to anyone. also he had this on him.- Zayl throwed down a strange brass necklace onto the table. in the medallion's center there was a symbol, a serpent's eye in a septagram.
- Did you just bit his throat out? uh, nevermind, don't answer that. I think we can agree on these terms, besides, no one told me you come cheap. Yes, the brotherhood is prepared to pay up your price. these ten buggers hang around Ivangrad nowadays, leaving the poruchiki of the army to do their dirty work. take them out however you may please. shoot them, slit their throats, poison them, I don't care. you may find the bast@rds in prestigious brothels, taverns or in their offices at the palace. Also, Skar, what the hell is that thing? some sort of trinket from an elven sect?
- Not sure. Ask your friends in the Brotherhood, they're bound to know.
If anyone could see Zayl's face behind the mask, they would see that Zayl is biting his lip.

Ivan was going to visit the tavern in his neighbourhood for a second time this week.The first time he played some melodies with his guitar and now he expected a friend of him,also a guitar player to make duet this night.
When he entered the tavern he sat near the bar and got some ale for himself while waiting for his friend to appear.

A hooded man passed by Ivan, and left a sealed letter on the table. The seal bore the symbol of the Brotherhood, a Lindworm.
The letter wrote:
" The Raven will be commencing the start of the operation on the morrow. He will require your assistance. Seek him out at the palace, and follow his lead. The fate of Maskolvia depends on it."

Ivan knew who the Raven is,because he was one of the most influential men the Brotherhood had.
He also had an idea what the symbol of the Brotherhood is.
He waited a bit more for his friend and when he came they had a nice performance together.After that he went home to prepair for a travel in the morning to the palace.

Zayl noticed the half-elf who was looking for a place to sit and drink. Zayl gestured to him, to come over. perhaps this was the contact that Boris spoke of. Skar noticed him to.
- Don't look at him so Skar, that lad's ovr there the one boris mentioned in his letter.
- Really? dosn't look that much
- Well, he has these guns strapped to his belt, so I'm pretty sure he know how to use them.- Zayl gestured the Half-elf to sit down with them, in case he never noticed the first attempt.

A man with a weird mask sitting in company of an imposing canian and a dwarf motions to me. I point at my bags on the floor.
"I trust you will have them arranged to my room."
"Naturally."
I walk over to the trio and take a seat.
"Not everyday one gets invited to this...diverse...", I say while making sure to note the still fresh blood on the canian. "..and interesting company."
A barmaid brings over my supper, consisting of steaming stew and bread.
"Thank you."
I take a spoonful of the stew and blow on it.
"So, what grants me a seat in this impressive company?"

- Well, for starters, you were standing in the middle of the tavern's dance area, and would be interfering with the upcoming dance- Zayl said as one of the patrons prepared to play a bayan.
- Secondly- Zayl said as he refilled the glasses for himself and Skar- You get to work with me for a little while now, unless those brain dead idiots that contacted you forgot to mention my name. A young half-elf, hard to tell the gender and so on. you're the only one who matches this that I've came up with so far. And believe me I'm very thorough through my searches and people. With the title of Master in Alchemy it's a main necessity. For tommorow's operation, I'll need some diversions to keep the regulars at bay.- The sounds of the tavern's patrons, as well as the youth playing the bayan and dancing, it was impossible to hear what the conversation is all about.- Think you may handle it?

I eat a spoonful of the stew and let the warmth spread as I swallow.
"I quess that clears up our current company.", I nod to the dwarf and bite down on my bread. I munch it up and continue. "I was under the assumption that I was to find you in Ivangrad Mister."
I take a gulp from my mug. "But I quess this simplifies things.", I put my mug down. "How big of a diversion are we talking about?", I ask and continue finishing my stew.

- A pretty simple. blow up some of the gunpowder stores.- Zayl rolled out a small map of Ivangrad.- I suggest you take out the southern ones, they are the farthest from the palace. Don't get yourself caught in the process or you'll be blamed for the coup that the hanger is organising. also, take this- He handed two small packages to Skalf and Fraige.- Try not to break or lose them. making them takes up a hell lot of time and valuable minerals. these little mirrors will allow us to keep contact with each other during the operation. Just say the name of the person you wish to talk to. I have about five of these, all are linked. And the day that someone will be able to trace this is the day when swines sprout out wings and fly. But if we believe those nutcases in the Morph cathedral at Vendigr the flying swine would come sooner. But as I said, do not break or lose them, or the Grand-Master Artificier will have my hide next time I'm in Vendigr.- Zayl pointed at the two forts down south on Ivangrad's map.- Here. These two. I think tossing a stick of dynamite should work, I have some in my stores if you need it. also- He looked at Skalf- potent poisons if you wish to be discreet in the ordeal.

"We are in luck that the weather is what it is, the fields are too wet the catch fire now but there will still be a fair amount of casualties among the regulars guarding the storages.", I take the package and place it in my breast pocket.
"If this is going to be of any use it seems I will need some names, mine is Fraige.", I say as I gulp down my drink.

Skalf secreted the magic mirror away. Before replying he gestured one of the staff for a refill.
"Varigsson will do for now. As for the poison, I'll see if the need arises. Though I can be plenty discreet with a gun or a knife. Though I'd fancy a few sticks of the old TNT myself. "You neve know when an explosive might come in handy" as the saying goes." Skalf chuckled turned specifacally to Zayl. "I'll still need names, if I am to give 'your friends' their due. And pictures if possible. Wouldn't do if I got the wrong people. Though if you'll have your associates handle it, it'll be time enough, I s'pose."
Skalf got his refill and downed a good portion of it.
"And I'll respectfully decline your offer for one of your drinks. I mean you no offense personally, but I thrice curse the fool who taught Humans the art of distilling."

Oh, but forgive me, I've haven't introduced myself. I am Zayl Vladimirovich Volknov, better known as the Raven of Maskolvia, and my associate is Skarrghus Silvermane. Very well then, Come up to me in Ivangrad tommorow, I'll be in my tower at the palace. Tell the guards you're here to see me for remedies, the townsfolk often come to me with the said reason, it's common. I'll provide you with everything you need for the operation. Now if there are no more questions, we'd like to bid you lads farewell. Get a good night's rest. You'll gonna need it.

After that, Skalf left the table and went to the room he'd rented for the night.

The next day, Ivangrad
Zayl was at his tower, writing his latest alchemy manual for novices at Vendigr. He sent Skar to find this bard, Ivan who was also a skilled spy of the Brotherhood. He also had packages prepared for Fraige and Skalf to go with their part in the upcoming operation.
At Zayl's side there was also a letter from the mage city. Zayl decided not to open it yet. Taking down the hanger was a more important task at hand

In the next morning Ivan went to the palace to seek The Raven.
He didn't take the letter for safety precausions and also he didn't know whether they will contact him again before reaching the palace,at the entrance or after entering it.
He was prepared to excuse himself politely if anything stopped him.

Skar was at the at the courtyard, looking for the bard that Zayl described as a tall, of slim build with dark hair, and blue eyes. There were a few people passing by, mostly smallfolk hurrying with their troubles to be heard by the Czar.
Skar was standing by a fountain, with his crossbow strapped to his back. Skar also had some double barreled wheellock guns to go with his ranged arsenal as well as a yssian scimitar and a pair of kithayian daggers called tanto by the kithay, but he favoured the crossbow the most, for it's rapid fire and silence.
Zayl mentioned that the bard's name was Ivan Strom. Skar saw someone who matched the description his companion gave him.
- Ivan? Ivan Strom?- He asked.- The Raven has sent for you. Follow me.

Skar could see not only Ivan appearance as described to him,but his guitar as well,which he brought along.
Instead of explaining who he was or what he intended to do in some place,in many occasions he was left without questions to pass when seen with the instrument and furthermore,he could always leave it somewhere if necessary.
He followed Skar.

Skar has led Ivan to Zayl's tower where Zayl has just starting to reboil water in a samovar.
- Ah, mister Strom, please take a seat. would you lie some tea?- He offered him a cup of fresh quince syrup tea. It had some bits of the fruit in the cup as well. He also placed a packed magic mirror which he also gave to Fraige and Skalf.
- I have been informed that you have a certain gift for espionage.- Zayl said and drank from his cup. Skar was just sniffing at the tea, and decided to add some honey in it.- Tell me now, lad, are you nay good at tailing a target? Do you know how to wield a weapon of any kind? Or magic?
