- aw, that's a damn shame- Zayl replied with the same ironic manner as the dwarf did.- But then again he had it coming. I suggest you look for some of the others at Madame Tossaude's. It's the most prestigious brothel in Ivangrad. Don't give me that look, all races are welcome there, as long as they behave themselves. Other places you might check are the taverns "Bogatyr's Sword" and "Gorinych's Lair" down at the merchant's row. Happy hunting. By the way, I've already got your check written, you can redeem it at any bank belonging to the Gilded Pouch Clan. You dwarves most likely shave your beards rather than cheat someone. that's why I like your kin.

Skar led the children into the keep, where the Czaress hugged them instantly after they went through the door. After hearing the story, the Czar said:
- Thank you Skarrghus. you probably saved their lives.
- I'd have done it anytime. Your cubs are good and kind hearted. those bloody elves were up to no good.
- What about Olskjov? where is he?
- I'm just your apothecary's guard my lord. I do not know where the generals are.
- I'm suspecting that he's gonna betray me. I want him executed. If you see them, put that dwarven contraption of yours to good work. You may go now. Thank you again Skarrghus of clan Silvermane. Your deed will not be forgotten.
- Thank you my lord- Skar replied- The general will get what's coming to him.- He said as he walked out the door.

After searching the drawers,Ivan discovered one of them had hidden compartment with three documents in it.
After that he heard noise behind the door and he hid himself under the desk.The man,who got in,made some noises as opening a safe and he heard the door closing again.When he got up from the hidding place,he saw one of the paintings moved a bit.When he looked behind,he saw a safe,which was still opened with two documents inside.He took the three documents from the drawer and the two from the safe and decided to take one amulet standing on the desk as well.He then got out,ready to call Zayl.

- I have good confidence in your skills- Zayl said to Skalf- Do not worry about collateral damage much, we can afford the expenses. Just don't blow whole establishments up- Zayl said with a smirk. He was tailing a man whom he suspected had been supplying the Hanger with poisons. in the few recent months, some officers openly criticizing the generals politics and this "civil" war were find poisoned. Zayl thought that this man was only a courier and dropped off the poisons from some reject from Vendigr. Most of those who failed at the Alchemy Cathedral in the mage city, turned to the criminal underworld.

Skalf put the magic mirror away and changed into his snipergear. Before being fully changed, he put the sign on the door that indicated that did not wish to be disturbed. Not that anyone would find anything, but it never hurt to be safe.
Skalf snuck out of his room and into the streets of Ivangrad again. He never needed the mercenary-captain to get back to the hotel safely in this riot, but it fitted the situation like a glove.
The tips Zayl had given him were valuable, but most of the remaining 9 targets Skalf did not know. The few he did, he did ony vaguely. He would visit one of his informants here first. If there was one man in the city who knew everything about everything, it was this one.

Zayl followed the man to a dark alley. the panic and chaos in the streets aided really well. Zayl heard an explosion coming from the dockside. He smiled under his mask. The operation goes smoothly so far. The man that Zayl was tailing entered through a reinforced steel door. Zayl stopped at them. knocking would be pointless, as probably there was a guard behind, waiting for a correct passphrase. Zayl taken out a vial with a faint green liquid and poured it onto the hinges of the door. The acid started to slowly, but surely eat away the metal. Zayl prepared his sword and gun, in case any resistance is waited on the other side.

After one unsuccessful try to call Zayl,Ivan remembered to check whether the documents are that good in information.
From the two documents in the safe the info contained some meetings and dates and the three documents-places,where the general or his men had been or were invited to be.
Then he tried contacting Zayl again.

Zayl felt the warmth that the magic mirror eminated.
- Yes Ivan, is everything going smoothly?- He asked. The acid that he poured on the hinges was almost done eating away the metal.
Skar was going through the palace. There was clearly something going on. Elves from one of their sects roaming through the city is a weird thing. most of them secluded in their tree cities, or spent their time studying at the mage city-colleges. For them to roam around and even attempt to kidnap the Czar's children. Wasn't in their nature. Although the Canians and the elves didn't saw eye to eye in centuries, so suspicion and distrust of the elven kind was in Skar's blood. He looked at the amulet again. A strange piece of jewelry. Perhaps Zayl's aquaitances would know more.

As Skalf brushed the curtain aside, he came into a room which was entirely at odds with the rest of the surroundings. The room was opulent to say the least, the bar it was located in was seedy at best and was located in one of the poorest districts of Ivangrad. This was the room where "The Boyar" did his business. "The Boyar" was an impoverished Masklovian noble that fell to a life of crime and landed well, Skalf never learned his name and did not care to. He was likely the Kingpin in the Ivangrad underworld and not a ruble changed hands without "The Boyar" knowing about it. If he was not here in this room, someone would be here who would know where he was or when he would return.
Skalf was in luck, "The Boyar" was here. Skalf was wearing his assassin getup. "The Boyar" would recognise him, as the two had done business previously.
"Ah, the Dwarf that every known man fears." "The Boyar" exclaimed as Skalf strode into the light. "Not here to kill me, I hope." he said with bluster as several thuggish bodyguards lined up beside him.
"If I was, you would not have seen me coming." Skalf replied, smiling wolfishly behind his mask.
"The Boyar" dismissed his thugs with a wave and indicated Skalf to sit down in a chair near him. "Tell me then why you are here. I know you do not simply come to visit."
Skalf sat down and fished the stack of photos out of an unseen pocket. He threw them on "The Boyar's" table contemptuously.
"I am here for information on these men."

the heavy iron door went down in a slam, revealing a confused ogre guard behind it.
- You will stay put, and I will not hurt you- Zayl said as he tossed down a pouch of coins near the feet of the ogre. reasoning with this race, was like reasoning with children. give them a candy, and they'll will obey.
Zayl walked down the corridor, until he walked into a hall. There were no guards. behind the table, sat an elf in his robes, and near him, the man that Zayl tailed.
- What is he doing here? How did you get here human?
- I tailed him- Zayl calmly said.- It wasn't that hard actually. Also, are you sure I'm not an orc or a halfbreed?
- HA! you wish. I know that wisecracking beakface anywhere Volknov.
- Do I know you? Oh, right, one of the dropouts.
- You did this to me!- The elf lost his temper rather quickly.
- Messing up that elixir was your own fault. I didn't forced you to sneak into the girls dorm and drink yourself to near fainting.- Zayl lifted up his gun and shot the man who he tailed here.
- I've got to get rid of all the loose ends- Zayl said- And I cannot allow you to supply poisons for the hanger anymore. nothing personal.- Zayl replaced the cap of the gun, but when he turned to fire, the elf mage hurled a fireball at him. Zayl dodged the magical projectile, and released a lightning jolt isntead. He was not very skilled in combat magic, but Zayl was able to make the best out of his skill. The magic tired the body and mind however, and no mage was fast enough to cast a shield barrier against a bullet. Zayl aimed for the shot. He pulled the trigger, and the bullet sank deep into the mage's chest, critically wounding him.
Zayl walked to him, looked at the body and said:
- You brought this on yourself. Like back in Vendigr.
He noticed a sealed letter, the seal bearing the same symbol that the amulets had. unsuspecting nothing, Zayl opened the letter. as He broke the seal however, the pearchment bursted into flames.
Zayl left the hideout cursing heavily.

'The Boyar' looked over the stack of photos Skalf had tossed onto the table. With each picture his face darkened more.
"What contract have you taken, Dwarf?"
"A paying one."
"<sigh> Assassin's honour?" Skalf nodded in reply. "You do not care who hires you, you do not care who you have to kill, all you care about is wether or not your contractor can meet your price."
"Exactly."
"<sigh> You have been hired to kill dangerous men, Dwarf. Men who care nothing for the life of others."
Skalf cocked his head in reply, as if to say 'like either of us cares for the life of others'.
"Do not look at me like that." 'The Boyar' spluttered in protest. "What you and I do is business. We do not enjoy the killing and the maiming like these men do, some of these men certainly."
"Who are they? And where can I find them?"
"<sigh> Very well, Dwarf." 'The Boyar' shoved two photos forward. Pointing at the people he was speaking of. "Leonid Broghov & Drago Simmeon, Colonels in the Royal Army, right and left hands of Olskjov. Responsible for the squelching of the Kannannian Uprising and the genocide of the ethnic Kannannians."
'The Boyar' dragged the two photos back and shoved three others forwards.
"Yuri Cobic and Boris Varrenko, Commandants of the Oprichniki, and Petr Charrov, Director of the Oprichniki. They constantly strive to, eh, "purge enemies of Masklovia and the Czar". Factually, they simply kill anyone they can manufacture suspicion against for whatever reason suits them."
'The Boyar' pulled the photos back again and shoved the remaining four photos forward.
"These last four, I only know the last names of. They are Inquisitors who work for these five men. Mikhailic, Karmal, Sovoklov and Gorrev."
'The Boyar' pulled the photos back again. "All men who are vital to Olskjov's plan to, I assume usurp the Czar. I do not know what he is planning, only that he is planning something. It is curious though that Oskjov's Captain of Mercenaries is not among your targets."
"I've heard he died." Skalf replied.
'The Boyar' eyed Skalf for a few seconds. "So have I. A few minutes ago." There was a brief tension between 'The Boyar' and Skalf, but both refused to acknowledge it and they continued.
" Best you not go looking for them in the days. They have many guards around them at all times when they work. But........Simmeon and Varrenko, they spend most of their nights whoring. They are regulars at Madame Tossaude's, but I hear Simmeon's eye has fallen upon a new girl at The White Rose." 'The Boyar' said. "Cobic, Charrov and Gorrev are regulars at "Gorinych's Lair", Karmal used to be as well. But, eh, he made, eh, a ruckus and isn't welcome anymore. I hear he now goes drinking with Sovoklov, who is a regular at "Bogatyr's Sword". Broghov, is a gambler. He has no favorite dive that I know of. But find out who is hosting a high stakes dice or card game and chances are you will find him there. Lastly, Mikhailic rarely leaves the dungeons. He is a sadistic man, spends his free time torturing random prisoners or vagrants his men pick off the streets."
Skalf memorised what was said to him.
"Now, it comes to my fee." 'The Boyar' said as his thugs made their presence known again.
"How much?" Skalf said unshaken.
"200 rubles."
"And you honestly think your thugs will be able to stop me?" Skalf asked, the deadness of his voice more menacing than any threat.
"Very well, 100 rubles. The death of these men will be good for my business."
Skalf tossed a handfull of coins onto the table and got off the chair. A thug made to move toward him, but 'The Boyar' gestured to stop him. The coins tossed would be exactly 100 rubles in crowns.

Zayl entered the busy street. The regulars tried to maintain order and calm the people down, but their effort was nearly in vain. Zayl needed to think. The "Czar's Crown" was the place to do so. At least it was the only place where people didn't went crazy, but then again the panic did seemed to be on the streets only. The docks were the biggest mess, the exploded battleship was half sunk, and still smoldered, raising dark smoke in the air. It'll be a while when the whole mess is cleared out. But it was a necessary mess.
Zayl entered the tavern. It was posh and expensive, so only the highest ranking nobles and rich merchants can afford to go there. Zayl placed a sapphire the size of a fingernail on the counter. The tavernkeep nooded and led Zayl to a booth. Zayl ordered a drink and a meal to go.
- Skar- He said to his magic mirror- What is the situation at the palace?
- Hard to tell really. There are regulars running amok, taking most of the servants and others who were at the palace to the keep to keep them safe. Also, from the talks I heard, there is a mass of people armed with pitchforks, schytes and basically anything that's sharp to help protect the Czar with the regulars.
- What about the general? Where's the Hanger?
- I've looked thouroughly. There is no sign of him. Even checked the hidden passages.
- Olskjov knows nothing about those, be assured of that. He probably fled the city. Allright the, you make sure that nothing goes amok. Where are you now by the way?
- At the guard post on the main gate. Wow. There's quite the crowd then. Some are publicly demanding the hanger's head. Even some of the regulars.
- Allright, be where you are. Try to maintain order.
Zayl sighed. the gig was nearly up.
- Ivan- He said to his mirror again.- A slight change of plans. Get to the "Czar's Crown", You should know where it is. I'll meet you there. Ask barkeep you're here to see the Raven, He'll lead you to me. Get here as soon as possible.

And Ivan did hurry to get to the "Czar's Crown".Indeed there were running people everywhere in different directions,so he was just one man,also running in his direction.Well,those,who could decide to pay attention,would see the guitar and the ordinary sack he was carrying.
Not much time passed,until he went into the tavern and asked the barkeeper about Zayl.He led Ivan to the table,where they met again.

- Help yourself to some starka- Zayl gestured at the ceramic bottle on the table.- You've earned it. Let me see the papers. If the hanger has fled Ivangrad maybe they will help us to track him.
Zayl felt the warmth of the magic mirror. He took it out. an image of Boris was in it.
- It's done.- The reflection said.- I'm now in control of Maskolvia's military. I'll make sure all is calm in the city, you and your associates focus on that fat prick and his monkeys.
- This is what we're focusing on right as we speak. Varigsson should take care of the liutenants quickly. I'll take the rest to hunt down the hanger.
- Very good. Will be hearing from you.
Zayl shook the mirror, and downed his glass of beverage.
- Fraige- He said to the mirror.- Make your way to the "Czar's Crown". We've got ourselves a manhunt going on.
Zayl refilled his glass, and said the same thing to Skar.

For the past hour Fraige has been trying to get rid of the stink from the river. Even if the spell had blocked water, it did not stop the smell from getting though and attaching to clothes and hair.
While washing my hair for the fifth time I notice the mirror activating on a small desk besides the bathtub. I reach for it and bring it level with my face. Zayl's message plays out from it as it has recognised me.
"I'll be there in half an hour." I put the mirror away and finish with my bath. I take my clothes from the stool, where they've been placed in a neat pile. I had the innkeeper wash and dry them for me. I can't help but notice the smell is still there as I get dressed. They don't reek as bad anymore but for a half-elf the smell is obvious. Last I secure my guns, throw on my overcoat and push my hat deep over my ears before leaving for the Czar's crown.

Skalf made his way back to his hotel, making sure he was not seen doing so. His head was churning. If he was to take out all of these men, the thing he needed to make sure was that they never got spooked. Getting to them while holed up would make things considerably more difficult. No, he had to make, at least the first few, deaths look like accidents. Or natural deaths.
"Yes, natural deaths would be best." Skalf muttered to himself. "These men aren't leading healthy lives, after all."
Heart attacks, those would be best. Drinking, whoring, gambling, torturing, those were the kind of things that wrecked havoc with your tickers if you overindulged. Though the drinking could also result in in "liver death", as it was called.
"Certainly, that Raven has some witch's brew that causes such things or causes death and looks like it. I'll call him about it when I get back."
As Skalf darted into another alley, things seemed to quiet down considerably. Which was good. The targets would be getting along with business as usual if the town did so as well.

Zayl browsed the papers that Ivan brought from the hanger's office.
- If I know the general well, than he'll go to the nearest hiding spot.
As Zayl brainstormed over the current matter, Skar entered the booth and sat down by Ivan. Blood was visible on his jaws.
- Another elf's throat bitten out?- Zayl asked him, after noticing the blood.
- Yea. Those buggers are up to no good. All of them are wearing those strange pendants.
- I still don't know what it means.- Zayl said as he looked at the papers.- But I'm confident that we'll find out soon enough.
- So what's the plan?- Skar asked as he sliced a piece of ham
- First, we'll wait for Fraige. Then We'll go hunting for man swines.- Zayl downed his glass.
