What constitutes interesting posts for you?
I guess we usually engage ourself in leisure solely based on self interest. What I wonder is what this self interest constitutes of (for you)?
I'll go first. For me, whatever I do with my spare time has always been about either fun or interests. I came to HC, because I'd interest in heroes of might and magic, as it was a fun game.
I stayed because some posts were interesting despite not being about heroes (http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=31518), quite a few posters generally made very funny posts (which I tried myself, but sadly my humor is based on surprise & chock/provocation, so I've learned I should be cautious with my audience rather than being stubborn).
But the more I think about it, I wonder if maybe my perspective isn't seriously limited? Do you apply yourself for other reasons than what's interesting to you / what you find entertaining, when you don't have to think about food, shelter, etc.?
It'd be awesome if you had a post in mind, which could exemplify what you mean, but I'm most interested in reasons.

Interesting posts for me are those, which teach me something new on a subject I am interested in.
IMO provocation/shock stuff is way overrated!
The stuff I am interested in is in many cases underrated here.
I could post later an example,if someone is interested.

I come purely because of the community. I like most of the posters here, - in fact, I think I made a lifelong friend, even - and want to see what they're up to... I love the concept of the Wastelands, despite periodic lapses in hilarity, great posts inevitably pop up there. And even if not, I can chatter away if I want. As a Zombie, I don't have much of a social life... HC is basically it.

My apologies OHfor, for being off topic but....
Polyglot, you are one cool cat, even if you like being a zombie, there is no reason for you to be one, you have much to offer to others and just as much to receive coz people (while some deserve to be shot like common dogs, no offense to dogs) are awesome and most of the time having those pesky 2 walkers in your life is rather fulfilling...

H3 stuff, funny links, OSM in general. Especially subjects that take interesting routes with the participation of people from different regions and countries. I like the internationality of the community. There is a specific type of spam that just sucks the life out of me and I find not only uninteresting but also rotten, the reality show (an oxymoron) type of spam, be intentionally and pretentiously stupid or marginal just to get attention, other than that I like VW, too.
And once in every 7-10 days or so, I get really drunk and before I sleep it off, I use the music thread like a last stop at a pub.

The number of memes
It's hard to describe what makes a post interesting. I find that interesting posts often cause me to think about something that I hadn't thought about before, or, more rarely, make me look at something I already know, but in a new light. Also (and perhaps this is setting the bar a little low, but) in the OSM, a post that indicates that you've read what someone else wrote and actually gave it some thought is rare and interesting - posts like this one. As for the opposite of interesting, that falls into three categories, I think. The first is rude stuff that usually gets penalized - cursing, insults, etc. The second is boring spam, mostly chitchat, not anything funny. The third is OSM posts that show that the poster only read the first sentence of all the other posts, missed the point, and doesn't understand anyone's position.

I go through phases.
Sometimes it is bizarre comprehensible or incomprehensible lunacy, but usually not in a joking way. Although I am fairly prone to have the interests in topics or posts that are not serious at all.
Sometimes I am down with just the facts.
I am always for the animals in fact I hope heaven has a really big criteria involving How we felt about or treated our fellow companions of the environment.
