Well RMZ, there are a lot more heroes played and from the ones u mentioned only Cass, Ignatius and Gazal haven't suffered changes, Ishuma plays either with spells or with the new pao kabuki dojo combo, Kelthors go from 6/1/1 to 5/1/3 to 5/4/2 with all sorts of builds and  creatures ( I saw raging smashers, wyvern riders etc.), Akane academy plays otk or 4/6/2 or 6/4/1 ( the beastman/crimson wizards combo) etc.
Like I said in previous posts there is diversity but Academy decks seem to be favoured by most, I mean even I checked out my statistics and saw that my most played hero is Myranda ( and I played over 200 games in total already)

I believe that there is a lot of diversity right now, but I am afraid that it will not last for too long and that it will be just for month or two until people discover new "best" deck for each hero.

In the end there is almost always one cookie-cutter build that is superior to all others, and over time people just stop playing everything else.

Indeed, 2 months after every expansion the strong decks come out, but this will be the same for weekly and standard, luckily I hope after 1 month of monotony jp a new expansion will come out

EDIT: some thoughts for now regarding open
- Cassandra and Gazal haven't changed and for the moment I see them as very strong decks;
- Ignatius got Ur-Jubaal's call so he was sort of buffed, felt he was weak in the first few days but I have come to reconsider that after winning 5 swisses in a row with him yesterday;
- Kelthor got nerfed; not being able to use his ability for bloodthirst isn't such a big deal since the stormrage warrior is a good replacement for the sahaar brute, but his ability costing 1 and changing the build to 5/4/2 because of peddler's requirement makes him weaker, still strong but not as before; making the vulture cost 5 makes no difference in my mind, at least for now;
- Ishuma really got on the bad side of these changes, and his ability costing 1 coupled with the 3 might requirement for da, thus not making them a viable option on her really nerfed her to the ground; I could mention the paos costing 4 but this has the lesser impact out of the three; in conclusion I do not see her being a strong deck anymore;
- although I lost the 2 games I played against Crag Hack, I think he is far weaker now due to indirect nerfs - da and pao;
- the banshee buff and the lower might requirement for Atropos makes Adar a really strong hero now with his 4/4/2 build; I played him to complete the daily quests (5 necro wins) and I was impressed by his new powers, in my opinion a very strong deck at the moment;
- Dhamiria is still strong in my opinion and so is Garant gate;
- Hakeem is still a top deck, no doubt about it;
- Deleb rush in my mind is not that strong on open;\
- Matewa is really strong, his only weakness compared to the previous Kelthor is the lack of firebolt and so people tend to block goblins more without fear of being punished;
- and for last I want to mention some heroes that have been on the rise for quite some time and with the confusion that exists right now on ladder play I think some of them have the potential to rise really high; they are: Myranda, Asalah, Alia, Zouleika and Akane sanctuary;
- there are still other decent decks out there ( Sandalphon, Akane a, Charity, Seria, Mother Namtaru, Zardoc, Kat, Acamas, Takana, Yukiko, Shalan) but I do not see them getting too strong over the next month or so;
I would like to end this analysis by saying that my most encountered hero on ladder before the expansion and after is Ariana, and I have yet to see a decent build on her, the most random and innefective things I've seen on her and still she is played and still she is beatable with any deck ( even won against her with Gazal LoS mill); the random Garant expression should be changed to random Ariana, but unlike him she is bad.
                            THE END

Yes, I lack a ton of cards too, so I am playing just a bit, collecting gold, daily rewards, daily quests and finishing campaign slowly, and I am waiting for HoN to become for gold.

I find the game refreshing at this point.

Keep in mind though, that I am not aiming for peak spots, and sit comfortably with my theme/test decks at champion 2 rank.

There is bigger variety of modes and decks. Also a big plus is availability of swiss tournaments each day. I especially like weekly formats that tend to be refreshing.

Also, for someone that has collected all legacy cards, keeping up with current card-list seems easy as gold rewards are bountiful and swiss tournaments give solid HoN rewards for 1/4 of players.

Yeah, I was always like that, was ~1300-1400 ELO guy before the BS2, now Champion 2, never tried to get to 1500+ ELO, I just keep making new decks and try them out, I like to experiment with things.

I agree that game is refreshing and is very solid right now, but I can't say that they haven't make mistakes as pointed out by EnlightenedOwl and Enclase.

Sadly I must say that my experience with open is worse then with standard.

I read how it is fresh and divers so I tried a JP ... 4 out of 5 decks were PAO based OTK/Slowpoks

Yeah and my friend was telling me how he started great in JP, only to face like 10 Kelthors in a row and get back to the start, lol...

Unless you want to see yourself in top 100 I cannot see why you would want to play jp now at the beginning of another phase of the game. In every format you will only encounter 3-5 decks over and over again; unless you want to test a deck against the best or to prove yourself, ladder+ swisses are ten times better for the general feel, pleasure, entertaining point of the game.
Personally I feel like playing in jp 2-3 times a month, the rest of the time I play a huge amount of decks on ladder and swisses.

Now to some deck building topics. I curently test a Myranda deck. looks rather OK, but I think it could use some boosts, anybody has any experience on this topic (Standard)

An there is a bug in the shop. They say Five Towers packs are for gold, but you actually get Forgotten Wars packs

Wow encountered my first OTK in BS2.. based on Masfar... interesting

Just hit Champion III with my Deleb Deck for Double Deck! (and it was piss easy).

Man, in Standard she is one of the best decks out there and it's with my favorite style: rush. These 3 card additions to HoN really are fantastic for Inferno:

With Lava Spawns and maniacs, you always have a drop on turn 1.
Thrall of Hatred give you the edge if games last too long and you need to reduce enemy hero health by just that bit more damage (also have Caller of the Voids in deck).
Maniac Taskmaster, great for discard as you should always have 3 demons on field (works good with Fate benders too.)
From other series: Lurker in the Darks, Hellfire maniacs, Lashing Lilims, etc.

@Dave: I like Bazaltovy's deck: http://tools.mmdocking.com/decks/show/8966

@Watcher: I told you you would get better experience with Standard! I played one open game, and when I saw Forbidden Flame and Decay Spitters come in the duel, I was like, damn those cards are OP.

My other thoughts:

- Jackpot weekly: with common cards only? No wonder no one is really playing this....Kelthor once again dominates big time here. So swisses change daily from standard to open, and Jackpots? They seem to be weekly based and not changing from standard to open?

- New duel opening: Interesting, now one cannot see who is going first with your mulligan choice...not sure if this inhibits certain styles of play?

I find this very funny DD, since you are using Lava Spawns, Thralls of Hatred and Hellfire Maniacs in your deck.

In Herald of the Void, when people were making a list of best common, uncommon, rare and epic cards, a lot of them(and even some pros) placed Hellfire Maniac in front of Decay Spitter. I wouldn't say that he is better, but they are even on my list.

And Lava Spawns... as EnlightenedOwl said, they are pretty much a must in every Inferno rush deck, they are like cheaper and in a way stronger Dark Assassins, that can't even be killed with Firebolt because they have 3 HP.

well firstly congratz to double for reaching champ III - inferno has been your go to faction and with delebs armada, i am sure she fits you like a glove!!

i think its pointless trying to discuss which meta is better, open vs standard, just like deleb fits double like a glove each player will prefer either, me personally, im concentrating on standard as i do believe this is where the game will be progressing too, 1 or 2 expansions from now on, if we all remain, i bet my bottom dollar open will disappear.

happy easter everyone!

Well Forbidden Flame can kill all of this BOOM! But I get what you are saying.

@Watcher: Apologies, it was Davey that said that his experience with open was worse....

Food for thought:

I am all about card collection and haivng them all as each expansion comes in, etc. It's important in your overall progression with DoC. Now the one daily quest gives 3 wild cards. If you complete this daily quest every day (say weekdays only), in a month you have:

3 x 5 days x 4.33 (weeks) = 65 wild cards per month!

Good growth, if you need to collect cards....

Nice thought, but there are people like me, who are stuck on this Dayly, with a quest that is not in their gameplay (like mine Win in 6 turns or less, (Duel of 4 games and under do not count). Since my fastest deck is a not so fast Stronghold, and I lack just to many cards for a Rush.. yea stuck with this for days now

Yeah, same as me. I have quest "win 5 duels with Haven" for 3 wildcards, and I can't stand Haven.

Probably will try something, maybe Cassandra in the open, but I really don't like it.

sorry to say 65 wildcards/ month means 3 unique/ rare cards - not enough of an incentive to try grind away at some rather irritating challenges imho ofc

I am having quite a trouble with my Seria. It is strong, but it still has the same problems as old Seria, and that is being quite weak when doesn't start with few 2-drops, few 3-drops and spells.

I've changed it a little to more defensive version with 2 Grave Wardens, 3 Boneyards, Time of Need and Shi-no-shi. The version I was playing before that was with Ghouls, Revised Tactics and Week of Mercenary.
