Haven't played my best lately either; we have to clear our minds of any left frustration and take every game seriously. I for one am waiting to try my hand in a jp open whenever that will be if I got time that day.
@ stevie - when I started I thought blazing glories were the best unit ever, but then I saw things differently

This is gonna be fun  If only this had happened in the weekend, argh!
DOn't depend too much on fatties Stevie, there are some very cheap removals in the game  Town portal can return your vampire in hand for 3 resources and soulreaver can kill it for 4. But if you find a way to protect them from direct spells they are awesome

Nooby question: how do I acquire more cards? Good cards. I guess you buy more with gold?

Base set 2 packs are your best bet for now. It is basically a mix of previous sets and has some very crucial cards. Heart of Nightmares is too expensive and would take a lot of grinding.

@Stevie:
Try to do the achievements, the easy ones that give you packs.
Most require grinding, but then again grinding gives you gold per duel anyway. Like the "win 20 duels with necro hero", etc.
Also, do the campaigns. They give you bonuses.
What necro hero do you have at the moment? Maybe we can guide you on a build (each hero has different efficiencies).
On weekly "any spells use" vibe: It seems that nothing can beat academy with their spell/magic resist troops...seeing alot of Hakeem with FF...

Do not change faction in the beginning, it may take some time till you get competitive with them. Both in terms of cards and skill. Focus on your starting faction and choose fortunes or spells based on what you have. Base 2 cards also cost few wildcards, I think 5-6 for one rare.

Well.. If there is one frustrating thing about this game, it's playing Haven in Standard. Damn it, lost so many games yesterday, and I needed just 2 wins. Lost my will today and made an Open cass just to get that win. The rage I felt was the strongest in a long time.
On other news
The new format, OK, is it a Standard with any spell, or Open with any spell, and why not focuse on anty spell decks, or decks based on fortunes, since many people will focuse on spell, you can use that with heroes like Ignatius or Dhamiria.
Red's tournament proposal: I'm all for that, but I would wish for a rule, that each deck must be from a different faction.
And last topic
I'm actually thinking of a new "start testing" account to see how the game is for new players now. My goal would be to compleat the "Win a Swiss with all factions" achievement.

@DJ - haven std is frustratingly difficult!! i've watch double go through the same experience.
about tourny, sure - i like your rule, each deck must be a different faction.
and LASTLY damn DJ a startup account again - trying to source all the cards, grinding with half mad decks, you are a bigger man than me

Wow. Fought against inferno in the last mission of the windswords campaign. He chipped my hero with some spells that took 3 health if I didn't use the card he selected from my deck (I think that's how it worked). And his creatures had sweep and attack everywhere, was kinda difficult to keep my creatures alive. But it dragged long enough for me to get 7 creatures on the table and killed his hero with 17 health in a single turn.
I really like this game so far.

The AI cheats on the campaign, a deck cannot normally have over 4 duplicates of the same card The campaign is a playground, the real fun is in online matches Some decks might seem op at first but you'll see that there are solutions for everything. The more cards you get, the more options you will have.

Got 53.000 gold, what to buy? Have 2 heroes, Seria Seeker of the Lost Souls necro hero and a haven one, Kieran Knight of Negation. Can't play the haven one due to lack of cards.

I would get 2k more gold and buy 2 BS2 packs and 1 HoN. hoN has some good C and U cards for necr (Like graveyard)

And I see so many sets for seals but I have 0. How can I get some?

Short answer: for money. Long answer: Tourney prizes, a few (really hard) achievements, and money. Oh, and codes might give some, but they are really, really, REALLY rare these days.

If you want to see what cards are in a set, but you do not have that sat opened in Altar of Wishes (or you do not have AoW opened at all) try some fansites like MMDOCKING.com
There 2 types of sets
Gen 1 (Bs1 plus 4 expansions (VR, HoV, FW, FT))
Gen 2 (Bs2 plus 1 expansion (HoN) for now)
The main format right now is Standard where you can play only cards from Gen 2
Then their is the open format, which can use any card in the game.
Bs2 is a re-balanced mix of the Gen 1 cards

Here you can see all the cards from each set. And since the last expansion, they f*cked up the economy of DoC, so as Poly said, there is no reliable way of getting seals now.

Check the other thread: DoC Newcomer's guide.
This has codes (redeem from shop) that you enter to get packs.
And also explains on other methods and rules.
Don't want to be rude, and always keen to help, but that's the thread for discussing DoC and questions....but welcome to chat anywhere too!
