Daggerfall Covenant then. And don't worry; judging by the wording in that last e-mail there will probably be at least one more beta before release. (At least I hope so; I rolled up an AD character at the very end specifically for that purpose. )

Did you make it to Cyrodiil? I finally did; it was nice to be able to try out PvP this time!

No I sure didn't. Actually I had several hours of beta game play in but I had a lot of work to do this weekend.

There is a high probability I will invest a lot of my extra time and energy into this game for atleast a few months. Good chance in a long term interest really.

What did you think of the faction? My personal favorite is Aldmeri Dominion (!), but Daggerfall comes in at a respectable second. Ebonheart's plot was just kind of stupid IMO. :\

Hmm, I never considered checking out other factions. I went after breton for magic resistance. I will come to know a lot more in the future, I am sure other classes are enjoyable but breton healing, magically damaging, attacking with a sword and shield bashing,

it felt very right, an unfamiliar pleasure. No pause/switch weapons and gear, very nice.

Made with some from the development teams who made GW2 apparently, but with improvements.

finding a guild
Not separate from the unity of faction, but I still think it is really important to find a guild to help grow early on. If there is an opportunity I would probably explain that until I commit someway,  I will be as great a guildy I can be but it is not a marriage yet.

ESO guild recruitment direction here. (in post 2)

One thing he didn't mention is that there are quests you can pick up in Cyrodiil. Some of them are obvious goads to get you to PvP ("Go capture the Elder Scroll Insertname" "Kill 20 enemy players" and so on). Others are related and fit with the military theme--my Planetside 2 habit of slipping into enemy territory all by my lonesome was rewarded last beta, because there's a "Scout place X" quest that tells you to do exactly that. But there are also the usual help-the-random-NPC quests like you'd find in the PvE portion, example: I picked up one quest to deliver a doll to someone on the other side of the map. These can get more difficult than they sound if the goal happens to be in enemy territory, which this one was.

Speaking of Planetside 2, EVERYONE can stealth in this game regardless of class, which made for some interesting tactics. (I don't know if it has the problem of Planetside 2 where your graphic settings can make the stealthing non-functional. I hope not, because that could spoil a lot of interesting strategies.)

He's right about the size of the map being huge though. I died often (I'm terrible at PvP) and I was really wishing I could afford the (17,000 gold) horse to get back to the action. I even /feedbacked the suggestion for horse rental just on the PvP map, though I don't know if they'll pick that idea up. In the mean time I spent most of the travel time looking for resource nodes.

I do hope they either reduce the cost of the temporary spawn camps or make them last longer, because I set one up and by the time I died (which didn't take long because, again, I'm terrible at PvP ) it was gone, and they were EXPENSIVE compared to, say, siege weapons.

Edit: I've got to decide if the game's worth $60+15/month before I look for a Guild. :\

I am probably going to go for it. My impression is this is taking MMO to the next level. From the small portion I have seen I am looking forward to putting some time into seeing more of the PVE stuff and reading more into the classes, factions, skills, races, etc etc.

Horse rental is a really good idea btw

If you're into the lore, one of the Daggerfall quests has you meeting the King of the Ayleids. Sadly I beat that quest before they lifted the NDA or I'd have taken screenshots.

Next beta my goal is to get some pics of the Maormer Dominion-side.

JoonasTo said:
Yeah, they have subscription fees, fail.
I can't specifically tell anyone that this comment is untrue, and that the sub price is best.

I can give my impression though,

This will be a premium game. Quality development, superb customer support, a more dependable server, better graphics, etc etc. The PVP shown from the beta is amazing. Straight up castle sieges, torching , stealthing, pushing enemies off their vantage points, ..

Not to mention a more quality player base, less trolling and likely no sweatshops and bots farming and spamming chats.

I am not knocking other games like GW2 or WOW either. Those are fun I'm sure, I have had a lot of fun with similar. But it seems like Bethesda and the ESO online development team are putting something together to appeal to its playerbase. They would have to in order to maintain. I would predict a strategic move in the future explaining why a decrease from $15 to somewhere between 10-13 a month is best.

Basically I feel comfortable comparing ESO to other games saying "Eso is (will be) like gold"

My problem with subs is mostly with my playstyle. :\ If I spend an extra $15 a month I'm going to feel obligated to play even when I don't want to, to get my money's worth.

I've turned from a person who did pretty much nothing to a person who's always occupied in about a month. I usually wake up at 07:00 and get home at either 17:00 or 19:00. I'm pretty much always occupied during the weekends. So in my situation, I don't think the amount enjoyment I get from paying for a subscription fee outweighs the cost.

(but then there's also no subscription game I like right now, i'm not in interested in WoW anymore and the only MMOs I like, Guild Wars 2 and Neverwinter, are free)

To me WoW died after the release of Cataclysm. Although I did played when it was released, even seen the end game, and took a glimpse of the grindfest that was mists of pandaria. Raid finder was a nice edition though, making it more casual friendly.

Let's just see how this turns out. My prediction still stands. It'll be shadowed by Warlords of Draenor.

Yeah, I reached level 85 in Cataclysm, played some heroics with dungeons (which was fun! I remember there being a lot of whining but I enjoyed them a lot more than the AoE fests of late WotLK) and then got tired of the game. Didn't even reach level 90 in Mists of Pandaria. I'm probably not going to buy Warlords of Draenor at release (but I really like the idea of exploring Draenor and will probably ending up playing that game casually if I have time, which depends a lot on if i'm going to study law this autumn or not...)

Digging through my screenshots from the last beta. I'm a crafting nut so I'm going to start with that:

Iron Ore is the first level heavy armor crafting material, Jute is the same level but for cloth armor. There's also Maple, for shields and staves, and Rawhide for medium armor, which you get killing off wildlife (including mudcrabs, oddly enough). On the other end of the spectrum, we have Ebony, Ebonthread and Yew.

Now, for the crafting fanatics among us *points to self* they HAVE skills that make the nodes show up when you're nearby. I myself consider them to be something of a waste of Skill Points however. Certainly there are some resources, like the Ebonthread above, that are difficult to spot until you're on top of them...

...but others, not so much.

You'll also be glad to know the scenery is lootable in ESO. Not, unfortunately, to the extent my packrat self would like, but there are bottles and dishes of food that spawn in houses and taverns and these can give you nice boosts, especially if you don't have either the inclination or the recipes to make food for yourself. Sadly, there are some parts of the scenery that are tragically immovable:

While we're on the subject of cooking, I would also like to note that the raw materials for crafting food are EVERYWHERE. As of last beta the recipes to use all that wonderful food are thin on the ground, but most of the sacks and crates you come across can be examined and contain things like salt, kwama eggs, hops, various kinds of fruit, pepper and so on.

But I think the thing that gets me excited about ESO is the expansion of the lore.

You already know we finally get to see the Maormer and at least one Ayleid. We also get a number of cameos from various famous figures and we get to poke our noses into several planes of Oblivion—discounting Coldharbor I've seen a bit of the Shivering Isles and I think the Evergloam. This is discounting the surprising variety of Daedra that pour out of the Dark Anchors...

One big disappointment so far is that I have yet to see hide or hair of the Tribunal, but Sheogorath shows up along with Haskill, and we even get to meet Shalidor—yes, that Shalidor.

Of course, to make up for it, for the first part of the main plot with we get to hang out this sparkling gem of a fellow:

If she's in Coldharbor...I'm thinking no.

But I digress. This wonderful character is the Prophet, a fellow who can't even be bothered to have a real name. He claims he can't remember it, and he's a sufficiently generic mysterious old mentor figure that even the people in-universe couldn't be bothered to give him one. Except to call him 'the Prophet.' Because he's a Moth Priest (note he's blind) and got information on the future from the Elder Scrolls. Never mind that all the Moth Priests do that...

So what I've seen of the main plot doesn't impress me. But I was surprised by how much I enjoyed PvP. That picture above is a Gargoyle I encountered while traveling across Cyrodiil; I also saw Wolves and what I believe were Sabre Cats. There aren't a lot of random wild monsters in the PvP area, but they do exist. My biggest complaint for Cyrodiil so far is the length of time it took me to get to a fight, followed by the fact that I didn't get to try it until last beta.

Loot—at least in the form of gold—is very very sparse in ESO. Remember that 17k horse I mentioned? Normal mobs spawn maybe 1-2 gold each. Dropped equipment sells a little better, if you aren't disassembling it for crafting ranks. Some monsters drop items that can only be sold. PvP quests pay reasonably well. Regardless, save your pennies if you want that horse, because they WILL be pennies.

Fishing...there isn't a great deal to say about fishing. I enjoyed it, but as far as I know there isn't much you can do with it except pat yourself on the back because you caught a Slaughterfish, then sell the Slaughterfish for a few coins. Different areas have different kinds of fish—I've found lake, river, and 'foul water' fishing holes, and I'm told different kinds of bait work better in different kinds of fishing hole. You find the bait all over the place (small spiders, rabbits and other small and harmless creatures will drop bait when slain, torchbugs and such can be harvested as well) and I found it a nice and relaxing way to pass ten minutes before the server comes down.

Alchemy...there isn't a huge variety of alchemy regents in ESO. There are maybe a dozen that I've seen, and the same ones spawned in (top-tier nodes remember) Cyrodiil as in the starting islands. I'm uncertain at this point whether this is good or bad; pack space is at a premium in my experience. You can buy more space (both at the bank and for your character individually)...but mind what I said about scarce gold.

On the whole, I've been enjoying my time in the beta. If it were a single-player game I'd probably have pre-ordered it already; as it is, I'm sorely tempted despite my aversion to MMOs in general and subscription fees in particular. That said, odds are there will be at least one more beta between now and release, so what would you all like to see screenshots of?

So as some of you know the imperial edition is sold out at all named retailers. If you do a google search for "elder scrolls online imperial edition sold out" you will, suspiciously, find zero results. In fact there are basically no google results about them selling out. I used the search engine duckduckgo and found many results of people complaining that it was sold out AND Frys still has it.
