ERA II

I'm not sure if I am installing ERA II correctly, I keep getting the 'assert violation error' when I try to start the game. I am on windows 7, 64 bit. How can I install ERA II properly and not get this warning? I also am not sure if I have the latest version, can anyone tell me the most up-to-date version? Thanks!!

P.S I was also wondering how to install mods for ERA II

Install Clean H3 Complete/SoD
Install ERA II (run executable and follow instructions)
Most of the times mods are executables and you only have to specify path (game folder). Otherwise extract to mods folder.
Then you can use Mod Manager to Disable/Enable which you want.
Warning : Be careful what mods you are mixing, any that is changing gameplay should be left alone.

Good games !

nope, it's not the installation, or maybe it is?
anyways, that error is given when you have Wake of gods disabled as a mod. if you didn't know era gives WOG as a mod when installed

How to install Era II + Wog?

How to install?

Installed clean Heroes III complete edition (GOG)
Installed Era 2.6.5.exe, also tried latest 2.7.2.exe
No errors during installation.

Tried running h3era.exe, nothing happens.
Tried running "In the Wake of Gods" from "Era Start Meny" Nothing happens.
Running Heroes3 SoD/Complete works fine.

Windows 7 64bit

Also tried compatibility mode XpSp2/win98 etc

Why wont it run?

If nothing happens, maybe it was installed in some parent folder, it has to be in main Heroes folder. Right click on era icon (start menu) and see where it leads. Paste here path if still nothing is solved.

Maybe I should set up a Virtual box with windows 95/98/xp or other os for this to work, or should it run in win7 64bit?

Is ERA II "any version" compatible with windows 7 64bit?
Is it compatible with HoMM3 complete edition from GOG?

How did others get this to launch?

Did you install the game from original cd?
Some kind of patch to HoMM3?
Virtual box with windows xp 32bit?

I get no errors or indication that anything is wrong when installing HoMM3, Era or HoMM HD.

Would really like to try out new stuff for HoMM3 in HD! Played all of the original campaigns a while back

Thanks // Adoon

The antivirus have not reacted at all, paused it and included the exe as a safe file in the antivirus.

The User Acount Control gives a warning, but it warns for mostly any program.

Strange. Played tons of older stuff lately, this is the only thing not even reacting at all.

I guess I have to dig into this more deeply and see what the problem is, so far I havnt found any problem, other than it wont start.

Thanks again for the quick replies!

1) If you have second hard drive / partition, try to install to it.
2) Try something like heroes3 for installation directory name instead of Heroes of Very Long Name And Yadayada, the simpler it is the less likely for problems.

Windows 7, 64 bit, UAC off.
Era crashes at start when TeamViewer is running (it's acting as virus, hooking all windows in the system). But without TeamViewer everything is fine.
You can check Debug\Era\log.txt on crash.

I used D:\Heroes 3 directory, and D:\Heroes 3 Complete for testing Complete.

Using drive C with UAC enabled is a pain, C is system drive, better leave it as is.
