Heroes of might and magic 5: The Succesion Wars ;)

Hi everyone!

I am creating this topic to tell you about my slowly developing mod which (of course if it will go to the end but it's not very likely to )... Oh, I'm not going to say to much, first I'll try how much can I do Just to say that it will bring us back to the atmosphere of probably the best HoMM game ever

Anyway, so far I have made three (yeah ) creatures of the Knight's castle. As you'll se below, I'm not good at textures so if the mod has to be revealed, I'll need some help with such a stuff. If you want to take part in creating the mod, send me PM or email, please, and I'll give you further instructions then



What do you think about it? I wish you would answer the poll, because I need to know if you are interested in something like the mod which I make

What about H2 creatures that doesn't have a model in H5?

What do you mean? I use mostly joined models as you can see on the screen in the first post :-)

EDIT: As I cannot edit the first post, here you have a list of questions to be answered with for the features I am for saving and for the features I want to make H2-like


1. Traces - the 'smoke' appearing behind heroes when they have great army
2. Selections - the discs under heroes and creatures
3. Skills - a new skillwheel
4. Spells -
5. Towns -
6. Alternative upgrades -
7. Interface - H2-like
8. About heroes classes and terrain penalties - I won't be able to have one type of heroes (neutral) as the heroes won't generate creatures of their towns. There will be 6 types with classical terrain boosts -

Knight - Grass (Haven)
Sorceress - Grass (Sylvan)
Warlock - Swamp (Dungeon - changed texture )
Necro - Lava (Inferno)
Barbarian - Dirt (Necro)
Wizard - Sand (Academy)

Same with creatures. What about this?
9. Specializations -
10. Biographies -
11. Music - change for H2 but leave some H5 tracks
12. Towns - townbuild mostly like in H2 but: I want the Fort to be built together with the Town Hall (I hope it can be done but I'm not sure), Citadel with City Hall together (well+towers+statue), Capitol only in the chosen towns, Castle only with most of the buildings built.
Or maybe standard H5 buildstyle with changed costs and income only? I prefere the second option as it is simpler, more convenient, more H5-like and simply better. If I can't change the income, I'll wonder if I can put the first option into the game.
13. Heroes - casting or fighting and casting as well (with bonuses for might classes in fighting and magic in casting - based mostly on the new skillwheel)?
14. Artifacts - H2-like and H5-like removed
15. Artifact sets -
16. Warcries -
17. Main menu - animated but H2-like
18. Adventure - dialogscenes instead of messages
19. How many army slots (5 or 7?)?
20. How about necromancy - I'd like to make all-skeleton without Dark Energy and what do YOU think?
21. What about heroes' models? Classical (H2) or original (each hero has his own model)?
22. What about creatures' icons? Ripped, painted or made from screens of models?

I mean units from H2 that you can't find a suitable H5 model to use on your mod.

Well, there is a possibility of model editing
On the other hand, I told you that the mod is not much likely to be released I can also use 'bear' instead of 'boar'

The main advantages of HoMM II is the charming graphics and good soundtrack. While the music could be easily moved to H5, the art style is difficult to translate to 3D. So even if this mod is finished, I'm not that optimistic about it.

storm-giant : you haven't seen polish mods? they made stuffs like giant bees or fate weavers with H5 models. in another hand, I have no clue if they could animate them...

for the textures, you could open existing H5 textures files and copy-paste for exemple. not the whole file I mean, just the bits of texture you want. or just get them on Google.

@mvassilev - about graphics, if I will make whole mod, it'll include new creatures, towns, heroes, UI and maps so the graphics would be completely changed. For now, what do you think about peasant, archer, ranger, pikeman and veteran pikeman?

@Fauch - personally, I think that the bee and weavers are a bit crappy, esecially because they are not animated

For the textures, I used this trick for the pikemen but this won't be enough, I'm afraid.


And, what more, this thread is open for your ideas! If you can recommend a certain connections of models for creatures, it will help me very much as for some I have nearly no ideas for Troll, Cyclopus or Pixie (Sprite)

They look too much H5-ish, which makes sense because it's an H5 mod. H2's charming art style is difficult to replicate in 3D.

I suppose it's the way you made their armour.

for the sprite, I think the polish modders also made a butterfly, no?

On the last pic I'm unable to see crusaders, I only see Vampires with armor

@Fauch - Medusa and ghost are nice,  for the crusaderIhave already an other idea
Druid too much reminds Asassin. What about gremlin with a Priest's head? But... Beatrice can be also good. Unfortunately she doesn't have a move animation, but I know few tricks to get on with that

@mvassilev - I understand what you mean. But what do you think about Fauch's creatures, then?

ok, try that.

you can take a screenshot to see if it looks ok in game? it's the tier 1, first upgrade of dungeon and sylvan.

don't download the exe...

Yes, they look really good But, what's quite sad, I don't know if I could find a right place to put them into game. Maybe druids, but they don't look similar :/

Anyway as there are 5 votes for 'yes' I'm sure there won't be 10 on Monday so I'll just give the mod up
