Now, why did I named this thread "Factions". It's because of this:
We have the 4 starting factions, Haven, Academy, Stronghold and Necropolis. And the other 2 that will be featured in the vanilla will be voted by YOU, through the open dev system called The Shadow Council.
First vote is between Sylvan and Fortress.

Actually, great. It seems they moved away from the over-generic H6 style. Six factions at the release is a great number, and the fact that Inferno may not be on the release is also sweet news

On a more serious tone, WizardAcademy. Since I started playing Heroes II in my father's office I loved dem wizards with the mighty Titans and cool Archamges
Necropolis gets a second position.

Haven, Necropolis, Academy and Stronghold are the four chosen by Ubisoft. Fortress and Sylvann would've been nice, but since we have to choice between them, let's say Fortress and Dungeon.
IV - On the first vote, who will you chose between Sylvan and Fortress, and why?
I have serious doubts of which faction to choose, as I badly want BOTH! Sadly we can't
I ended choosing Fortress because I believe they deserve another iteration, to maybe forget the aberration of HV fortress (six dwarves and a dragon yaaay...)

3. The basic factions that where in heroes 2 should be in every heroes game: Knight/Heaven faction, Wizard faction, Warlock/Dungeon faction, Barbarian/Stronghold faction, Sorceress/Sylvan faction, Necromancer faction.

just as I thought. Sigh, I would have loved both of these factions in the base game. Sylvan and Fortress are two of my top 3 favorite factions.
Oh well, at least 2 of my favorite factions are in the base game. Which is a big improvement from Heroes 6. None of my top 3 are in there.
I guess Fortress will surely lose this one so I'll vote for Fortress just for the heck of it.

Except for his hate on Demons, I agree with Storm on this one. They moved away from some generic stuff and impressions so far are positive. Whole Haven will be a ton better(at least for me), 8 units per factions, warfare units will be different between factions it seems, townscreens are great, 4(!) classes, so mostly positive.
We have yet to see what will be done with skills and spells, but I hope for something like in Heroes 5.

Since we already know first 4 factions, and know the voting for next, I would like to see Fortress and Inferno with first 4.

1 - My early impression about Heroes 7 is good, I'm damn curious about it, and I want this game to be more like Heroes 3 and 5 and less like Heores 6 .
2 - Sylvan
3 - The first 4 factions revealed + Sylvan and Fortress (and Infeno + Dungeon in future expansions)
4 - On the first vote, I choose Sylvan, because it is my favourite faction and because I consider them to be more needed in this game (orcs and dwarves without elves will be boring, I think). Plus, I want to see better Emerald Dragons than in Heroes 5

I'm liking the new Artstyle. From the 2 screenshots we've seen, the graphics look very similar to HVI, which implies that they've rehired Puppetworks for this. And to be honest, the graphics were about the only thing done well in HVI, so I'm glad about that. We can argue about aesthetics all we want. Graphically HVI was good, and I am glad that they seem to continue along the set path.

Stronghold. With Fortress running a close second. (Both Kinds!)

As everyone already says, we're getting Haven, Stronghold, Necropolis and Academy, period. I'd love to see Fortress for obvious reasons, but I doubt they will win from the classic Sylvan. As for the Second vote, I think it will be Dungeon vs. Sanctuary. Seing as how the Dwarves hate both of these factions, I'd love to see the enimity that might create. However, I again think that, if that is the case, the classic Dungeon will win. Which will result in the 6 classic factions of HII. Which is a decent enough option as far as I am concerned.

I've already voted for Fortress. The reason is because I am not a fan of Elves, I think that Fortress is fun faction and I would really like to see their units and what will they do with them graphic wise(since I think that game will have graphics a lot closer to the H6 than any other game I really wanted to see Dwarves there).
Of course I want all 9 factions, the more choices the better, but right now I would really like to see Fortress. And that is very unlikely to happen considering the voting so far, but we knew that already before the voting even started...

Fortress - really enjoyed it in "HV". I love Scandinavia and its culture. Want to see how this faction was developed through years.

Giants are not Dwarves.
But yes, as War-Overlord pointed out, in the Ashan Compendium is said that Giants and Valkyries also belong to the Fortress and I would really like to see those Fiery Valkyries done well.
Sadly, votes right now are 70% for Sylvan and 30% for Fortress. Noooo little beard guys, noooo. ____________

I know, and that's why I would to see them again. They could leave a much better impression this time.
I imagine if a faction doesn't make it into the release, at least it should be featured in the expansion...I WANT TO BELIEVE ____________
Definitely. Great thing here is that original H7 will have 6 factions, which means that in the end we will have at least 7 or 8 with expansions/DLCs.

IV I will go for Sylvan .
Reasons:
-Fortress was done really bad in heroes 5, and dont want a risk for it happening again in heroes 7, at least on release
-Sylvan i consider one of basic factions that was from h2 to h5 and that should be in every heroes game from beginning
I - mixed... I also very much dislike the recycled content as it looks quite cheap. I'm getting bored of seeing H6 in DoC, Heroes Online, M&M X and now in H7...
However I like that the toned down the look of the creatures as they aren't so overdone as in H6. I'm also a fan of the Academy Townscreen, though again... it looks quite similar to the H6 style. I'm interested to see the Warfare Units, finally made a comeback!
II - Academy!
III + IV - Haven, Necropolis, Academy and Stronghold are in. Now I would like to also see Sylvan and Inferno perhaps... so the 6 classics.
I never really like the Dwarves and I wouldn't like to see Dungeon if Sylvan would be already present. Too many elves...
