Heroes VII vs Heroes VI graphics comparison

Let's do some graphics comparison between this two. Let's see some screenshots -

Heroes VII

Were is Unreal 3 engine ? To me graphics in Heroes 7 is complete downgrade compared to H6 :
Tree - less variation worse execution. Vegetation look in Heroes 7 like in 5 years old game or more.
Rocks terrain - same look worse, much less details compared to H6.
Color scheme - they say game is like Christmas tree like before. To me is not anymore, it's not Christmas tree it's more like dark fantasy thing. Dark fantasy selling well this days ...

I hope this is only my first wrong impression and final product will look great ...

Yeah, I completely agree with what you said. However, I think that for H7 they focused more on the gameplay, rather than on the graphics.
I really hate the cheap chinese manga game style though.

I think they look about equal in quality - if anything, H7 looks a bit better. I do wonder why they're not just reusing the H6 engine, though.

Comparison between a final product and a game that is in developpement is not fair.

This debate is sterile... We could really debate on the graphics things when HVII will be released not before.

The H6 engine didn't enable them to do any of the tools we've been crying for (user friendly map editor, RMG, sim turns, mods, etc...). That would be a good reason enough for me.

Remember that an engine isn't only about graphics, it's also about APIs and tools.

Yes i seen. Fly bee camera great, weather effect good. Snow terrain look decent to me. Underground not bad but is poor in  details, 1 meter hi crystals and statues like in 1 million games before. Sand terrain with water have blurry textures, no bump-mapping like it was H6. In H6 water terrain is best looking. In H7 is close to H5 in terms of quality.

They already said that they use the Unreal Engine 3 and not the Heroes 6 engine (whatever that engine was called).

Yes, exploring is nice too, but Heroes isn't a title that needs the best graphics possible to enjoy exploring.

I'd rather have H7 graphics coupled with good gameplay and nice effects (like those showed in the trailer) than the most ultimate graphics, at the cost of gameplay features and such.

Have to say, I prefer VII, VI looks cartoony and false, while VII looks like a proper attempt to model a world. Scale's getting better too (though still far from perfect), the hero is now clearly larger than most buildings, as they should be since they're actually an icon, not a character unto themselves.

"Cartoony and false" - to me is true fairy tale atmosphere
"while VII looks like a proper attempt to model a world" - attempt to model a rainy day after five month of dusty, full of sun weather
