...want a place to see them besides ToH, send them to me...and once we get set up, and get a large enough collection, after we select those that we like, we'll upload them for you.
...however, might take a while, as I'm not even finished all the built in stuff yet, so I won't have time to test it out

map council

I recommend sending maps to jinxer or destro 23 (current map council members) for them to start reviewing maps.  I will need at least 20 good player-made maps ready, posted and presentable in automation the moment homm4 TOH opens up.  We have a beautiful new maps page, but it also takes more work to update.

If you are looking for an easy way to get your map published, as well as get it tested by experienced map-testers, send it to Celestial Heavens.  Go to celestialheavens.com and click on the link on the left sidebar to submit a map.  The map will be tested, and possibly featured on the front page if it is exceptionally good.  This is an easy way to get your map into the HMM4 community.

WOW, 3 maps already!!  I am impressed.    If I tried to make 3 maps, they'd all be crap.  So far it looks like I've just made one good one ... but unfortunately the dumb AI makes it less playable.

I've fixed quite a few bugs from key to victory1.1, and now v1.2 is ready.  I've tried to improve the AI, but it's just too dumb.

Nevertheless, since it's impossible to conquer the computer's towns until late in the game, it will still be good for multiplayer, even if the other 4 comp players are blonde.

I'd like to thank tortoise here for helping me find many of the bugs on my map

cool, I'll DL these and check 'em out tonight Jex

Looked at all 3, haven't played them yet, will do so now.

So far I am very impressed with each one.  Here's my thoughts with just viewing from editor.

Burnt: well decorated, and even though it's a small, has quite a bit to do and has enough experience to create a developed hero (something most smalls lack) ... only one minor thing, is that the one who gets equal towns has an advantage, but that's common among almost all maps.

CityFight: who needs decorations?  It looks like a city  .
- the good: very good overall, the concept, design, the quests, the multiple things to do including conquest.
- the bad: it seems (and I could be wrong) that little experience can be attained in this map.
- the ugly: the wives you rescue.  Are they worth rescuing?

Mines: very good, very open, I like this one the most.  One thing though, where the hell are those damn keymaster tents??

lmao nice comments

ty for the replies

I want you to return the 'wife' and get her to leave your party. But I couldnt figure out how to have the quest hut 'take her'.

They have options like 'has certain hero', 'take materials, creatures, artifacts' but I didnt find take hero. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?
I am just happy I figured out how to get the quest huts to work.

The quest tents are in the snow, making the fights alot harder if your not Order....something to change maybe.

to Jex

at second glance, City Fight looks like it has tons of experience to be attained ... just that it'll be a detour to get it all

Anyway, about city fight, I've noticed there are quite a few blank quest huts in the ring-leaders' area.  What I've noticed from experience with bugs on my own maps is, if you visit a blank quest, then right click on the quest hut, the game will crash

So to prevent that from happening, you'll have to fill in a site name, and a quest log entry (it's a pain in the butt if u ask me) ... if you want I can do it for you, just filling in, "house" or "barn" or whatever on each one.

So yeah, this is just another bug in the mapmaker.

I heard someone mention Celestial Heavens for maps...
I think they are a decent site, but they arent a good one for maps, as it takes a good 3 minutes to download a map...  you click to download the map, then it sends you to gamespy, then you click the link and hafto wait in line for a minute... its a serious pain in the ass.  They should break away from gamespy, or get a different server to put stuff on .

jb, I hear you've been making 5+ maps.

Send them to me whenever you want them tested, checked, submitted, or whatever.  I'm anxious to see what you got

email = wiggums33@hotmail.com

ps - same applies for all others who have made a map (with future considerations in ToH).

to Destro, Jinxer, and Vesuvius: there is a serious map-maker bug, which causes the map to display (when you launch it) "bad file [name of map]".  This exists on my map "key to victory". However odd thing is, it'll work fine 20-30% of the time.  I suspect that if this bug appears on one map, it will likely appear on others (because we haven't identified the problem) ... so I'm thinking ...
when we enter a description for each map ... if the map has this launching bug, we can add something like,
"warning: 3do bug causes map to launch only 20% of the time." ... or something like this.  I suppose another possibility is, we could put it on the "play at own risk" page, describe the problem, and say everything else is in order (assuming it is).

So what do you think?

King vs King

Sorry Insatiable, but this annoys me a fair bit. Nothing personal, I think this map looks like a good first map. Kind of like my first maps. But those were all rejected by the council.
So I must ask why this map was accepted?

And why didnt people tell to you
a) make it look better or to get rid of some the empty wide open spaces. In some spots it looks unfinished.

b) Use the elevation tool. 90% of the map is completely flat. And then for some reason you elevated the desert area which has been elevated too much, so that the rivers are on a big slope. Fine you might say without looking at the map, the rivers are running along the slope, not down the slope. Which is physically immpossible. Sry but that very poor elevating imo.

c) Lots of people like to play blind maps. Orange is going to lose a hero day1, when attacks the 1 skeleton only to find his lvl 1 hero will die against 9 monks. Also according the Peon rating 9 monks isnt as mean as 39 ghosts.

d) Change the one way portals week 2-3 you can prolly kill that random monster, or if you get lucky with adv stealth and the random monster is a lvl1 then you can go by and then straight into your opponent's upper world castle in 1 turn. Thats a just a little problem.

I didnt actually play it, but I could pick it apart alot more just looking through the editor. Especially the 30k quest hut.
But personally I would like hear from the council as to why the map was accepted??

I know you guys dont owe me anything. I am just curious, as to why this map has been accepted.

If you want some revenge for my comments, Insatiable. I can email you my latest maps for you to critize.
Personally I would love to hear some feedback, even if it is negative.

we can babble and babble about maps, but, critisism can be done ONLY when played...then it would be fruitful cause it will lead to an update..
it's not my fault your maps rejected,so try attacking someoneelse.
i find your observations mean and unsuccesful.
i hope you do better next time, when you grow up a bit.

LOL jex... I made the exact same comments on that version of the map, and asked for revisions....
I appologize to insatiable for uploading the wrong map.
Right now in my opinion Jex is one of the top map makers period. insatiable so I beg you to listen to what his advice is ...I did not think he said anything out of line. This is what i said myself.
We as the map council...me in particular, get the worst of both ends. If we accept all maps on their first time through we are wishy washy, and spinless wimps. If we don't accept very many maps at all we are to rigid, and jerks to boot. I and the rest of the council put many hours into testing, reviewing taking time out of our days to help you get your works published, and is it ever appriciated? .. NO...not that I care if we are appreciated but a little respect would be nice every once and a while.
The team we have I trust!!!!!!!!! NO questions there..they are all respected in my opinion and I will back them up 150%, along with their decesions. End result I have final say, I guess, but I listen to what the others say, and that weighs heavily on my mind

Fair Enough

Something seemed amiss.

Bob: I think most people do appricate your guy's work. Especially now that the unlisted map setting is finally gone. That is a nice accomplishment for toh. I do respect your guy's opinion. I think all the changes you guy's reccomended on my maps were implimented without question.

Someone made a mistake, the wrong map is on the page. Thats fair enough. Sry for ripping into you guys. But atlest know we all know there was a mistake.

Insatiable: I wasnt trying to make a personal attack.
