Of all the cool wolf-like monsters in mythology, they go with real-life puppies.

It is just not original and boring in my opinion.

Ok you go and tame a wolf we'll see how that turns out. On a more serious note, it fits with the Wolf Duchy storyline, is a good core and reasonable choice for medieval context, and gives us something else than griffins we had in H3, H5 and H6.
Now on a more personal note, I find H7 Haven's lineup pretty rough so far, and I like it.

I rather see Griffons back, I really hate those overused mytho's but I'd rather see them than more human units.

Calopus would be the perfect wolf-unit for Haven, its a heraldic myth, so perfect for human allies. + it has cool horns, which makes it better than normal animal planet wolves.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having dire wolfs in haven, it fits with the back ground story quite well. Do any of us really know if you could have trained a dire wolf? even if that idea does sound far fetched who cares its a fantasy GAME it doesn't have to be realistic.

I'm all for wolves. They are making a gritty Haven and I love it.

I liked the imperial touch to them in H6, and the idea of defining them with even more holiness wasn't a bad direction, but it just didn't work for me. Now I can easily imagine myself playing them outside of the campaign too.

So I heard you dislike wolves.........

Honestly, would you prefer boring peasants/conscripts over wolves? I don't get you honestly.

I don't think the problem is Wolves versus Peasants, but Wolves versus Griffins. And really, although people keep thinking Griffin=human owned (and so far, that is still technically the case, if the Griffins show up for the Griffin duke in the end), the Griffin has only been a Haven/Castle unit for 3 games (H3/5/6) and was part of Nature for H4, and "dungeon" Warlock for H1/2. I don't think I mind so much having griffins not part of the "human" faction. If they are trying for a more brutal, less holy faction, I think this is a good direction. Griffins are usually seen as "noble", and so far the Wolf duchy has been anything but.

I think Stormcaller was more referring to the tier section (both cores).

I assumed as much, but, wasn't it sort of "confirmed" that core units are analogues to H3/5's tier 3, with elites being tier 5 and champs tier 7? That's what it felt like, at least for me, barring maybe Goblins, who felt like "tier 2" in H6... (also, peasants were one of the worst units added back into Heroes 5... I liked their neutral status in H3/4... why did they have to muck up a faction by added them again, and waste an upgrade on them? Bleh. And then another during ToE? )

Said it before, but if they replaced a human unit with the new wolf, and keep the griffin, this would be the best human lineup for me ever, with least humans in it.
