Final Fantasy VII remake announced
Trailer
Part of me is telling me to calm down and that they'll find some way to mess this up, but another part is jumping up and down and screaming "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE!!!" I've been waiting for this for over a decade.

So we'll get two Final Fantasy's in PS4 soon, and Persona 5! Woohooo!!!
Now i just hope they include extra story points in the remake, maybe include Crisis Core as flashback scenes like FF8 did.

Now that's a game I could basically pre-order immediately if I found it in a store just to show there is support for the game. I'm at the end of the line with the series currently, haven't seen good game after FF X(which re-make I also pre-ordered). Really hate to see the game move more and more to real-time events and just smashing buttons. I really hope they will make the h7 re-make faithfully to the original game(battle-system, random battles, world map, materia-system, etc being same or similar in spirit), not like the more recent games. That in fact is the only reason I would have to see some game-play first before ordering, because I don't like the direction the series has been moving after FF X

Yeah FF series is one of the reasons I like Turn Based RPG the most. I really dislike this whole "make the battles more dynamic" approach. Traditional is the best. I wonder how my favorite character Red XIII will look...
Aside from that, FF7 Remake and the newly announced Horizon made a little bit closer to buy PS4. I still find it doesn't have that many interesting games though...

I have this FF VII from Steam, because I never played it that much back then. I must get over the graphics feeling now, as well as playing FF VIII, which I also never went farer than 2nd CD. The first FF I did finish was Tactics and then FF IX.
I'm rather happy with these news, giving new breath and life to really good old games. As long as they don't find a way to ... disrupt it somehow.

Graphics just aren't all that important to me. I do expect certain level especially from newer games, but mediocre graphics of the time the game was released are more than enough. All FF-games have had beautiful backgrounds starting with FF7. The character models granted aren't very good, but it's something I can forgive since it's the first 3-d FF. Game-play on the other hand is one thing I just cannot forgive if that's screwed. Up to ff X I always felt game-mechanics went forward, maybe even till ff X-2(with the idea of pokemon catching which was not included in my regions game!). The auto-battling idea was just always dead to me, I want to interact when playing a game, but suddenly it's all about just spamming million things at enemy as fast as possible with just wasn't possible in manual way.
For example FF XII felt more like watching somebody else play... Your whole game-play during the game was like set battle-commands, move your guys till game is 1/3, edit commands, move guys till 2/3 of game, edit commands and then run finish the game. Ohh yeah and at times check levels/equips. The game was so incredibly passive it was just sad(did have cool graphics and story as I recall faintly was nice!). I think it was first FF where I didn't even get the best weapons for all characters because it just felt tedious to play the game(and getting the weapons was one of the worst ways, actually the the worst way!)
ff 13 wasn't much better, but at least it felt a little bit more classic system, if even just tiny bit. Very boring game overall.
13-2... Ohh boy, only 2 heroes, DLC and battles are just tap "x" on auto-battle fuction. Ohh and play pokemon by collecting monsters... which I probably changed only couple time in the entire game.
13-3-lightning returns... Who thought it was cool idea to get rid of leveling system, putting time-limit to game, get rid of party members, getting rid of proper good story-line, make battles all about reaction time and whatever other crap was in the game. It was the first FF I never finished.
Boss battle for normal person=react to enemy action and counter
Boss for me= lose the battle 10-50 times (until I can go the battle by muscle-memory pretty much) since my reaction time just isn't good enough. Ohh the fun of that! battles just felt like tedious chores. Been meaning to finish the game so many times, but I just can't bring myself to play it again. It was just that bad of an experience for me. There were just so many things wrong with the game for me I wanted to cry when I was playing it. Just about everything I liked about the series was gone and replaced by steaming piles of snow in my eyes!
From what I've heard from friend of mine about FF 15, I'm not really expecting much to be honest. It has sounded like continuation of the current trend, which is why it will be the last FF -game I will buy if the trend doesn't change change. I can easily tell even just from my play hours as to where good games ended. Games after FF X I have played all put together less than I have played FF 7, 8, 9 or 10 alone(possibly FF 6 too, though that I haven't played in ages).
In the past I would've had no worries about the game quality and pre-ordered with good conscience any FF that came out, but hearing about FF 7 -remake does make me worried if it will be done with the current trend or the classic JRPG-way. Square simply doesn't have my trust anymore after too many bad and mediocre games.

There is a reason I stayed away from FF games. JRPGs and TB mechanics. I want RPGs with real-time action. However, I can understand the hype, and I'd actually fancy seeing a "Let's play" of the game in HD when it comes out, since I will be far far too lazy to do it myself.

Tetsuya Nomura said that if FF7 was an exact remake with better graphics he wouldn't direct it. Going further he said sth in the lines of "what's the point of making detailed Barret and Cloud models in battle if they would only jump in and out for attack and just wait for their next turn", sooo... dynamic battles I guess? No thank you...
PS: I won't give you a source cause it's an article in my native language so you probably wouldn't understand it

I keep reading articles saying things like "what's the point in releasing the same game"....
Maybe because it is called Final Fantasy 7 REMAKE
I really hope they don't skrew this up. The last few FF games have been pretty bad in just about every way. The story is perfect and the gameplay too, why do they feel the need to change just for the sake of it
