Necropolis - celiton's view

Celiton's Necropolis

This is my work in progress version of necropolis. For now I have developed 5 of 7 creatures, which are part of 7 tier system. I hope you will enjoy it and I'm looking forward to feedback

All images used are from deviantart. By clicking on them you can view the original source. I hope I am not violating the rights of the owners by including them here. Not all pics are fully corresponding to descriptions or my vision of them

All necropolis creatures are undead, that means they are immune or vulnerable to everything which affects the living creatures (depending on the particular situation).

Upgraded creatures also inherit all abilities from their unupgraded counterparts.

Level 1
Skeleton
Traits: melee
Abilities: ---

upg. Draug
Traits: posibility of alternative upgrade:
opt. 1 - melee
opt. 2 - shooter
Abilities: ---

Description: The core of the undead army. The numerous dead bodies of human soldiers were always useful to learn how to animate dead among all necromantic apprentices. The more resourceful ones took advantage of those dummies and trained them in order to create huge armies which are essential to survive in the odd world of the living…

Level 2
Martyr
Traits: melee
Abilities: decreases morale of the attacked living creature

upg. Sufferer
Traits: melee
Abilities: attacked creature runs away 3 tiles

Description: Victims of brainless inquisition of the living, tortured just for fun, using the most terrifying techniques… Martyrs and sufferers were not meant to die in peace. Souls of these rotten bodies are eager to revenge thus joining the  horrific armies of the undead

Level 3
Ghost
Traits: flyer
Abilities: Ghosts and Revenants are likely to miss the damage dealt by attacking creature

upg. Revenant
Traits: flyer
Abilities: always retaliates to living creatures

Description: Inability of early necromancers to animate some of the dead bodies lead to discovery of new ways how to extract features that can be animated. Later studies of these new forms has shown that so called Ghosts have many advantages. The most important is their resistance to physical attacks making them powerful part of the armies of the undead. Of course this was just the beginning of the science behind necromancy…

Level 4
Vamp
Traits: Vamps and Vampire seductresses are able to move throughout whole battlefield
Abilities: life drain

upg. Vampire Seductress
Traits as above
Abilities: attacked creatures are always unable to retaliate

Description: Bloodthirsty beasts, seeking for every opportunity to calm their unceasing lust for blood. Using the most unusual weapons they drain life to keep themselves in eternal beauty and youth – the moment when they were deprived of their lives. Given the chance to rise again, they are determined to do everything, just for satisfying their vagaries…

upg. Archlich
Trait as above
Abilities: all adjacent living creatures (both allied and enemy) are affected with poison, poison spell extends to 3x3 area

Description: Arrogant, cynical, ruthless… Knowing the power of their wisdom they are sitting on their opulent thrones. Enjoying the suffering caused to the living flesh from distance their vanity rises even more and does not allow anyone to step in their proximity. Otherwise, prepare for the pain that grows second by second, until the decease…

I love the idea of female vampires with seductive powers, and I know I'm not the only one. I also like the fact that you rejected Ubi's core-elite-whatever mumbo jumbo level system. Try finalising your proposal. Maybe we could get the Spawns back. I liked their concept, but maybe I'm one of few who did.

You mean the Spawns from H4?? I have the idea of another faction in the similar vein as Asylum where Spawns should find the perfect place to dwell. I'd like to keep necropolis in the style of the undead

i definitely find the egyptian cultured necropolis to be more fitting than the gothic theme. think of all the tombs and curses, the sands, the desolation. they give you that kind of feeling you get when you're in a dream and you're surrounded and you have no other choice than to embrace your demise. the desert's esoteric aura shan't be changed. let it be this way

I have to say I'm not confessed of this faction so far...the units look all very similar. And I really do not like the "Vamp", mainly because of the name, sounding more like a teenager than a fearsome unit for the battlefield.
