Is there any way to get rid of the black bards when playing on widescreen?
I remember Homm3 HD used to do this a while ago, but not anymore. Basically, the black bars are really annoying and playing on high resolutions just makes everything extremely small... is there anything I can do with ths?

You're most likely running the game in a 4:3 resolution, try a widescreen one like 1280x720 (thats the res I use when playing H3)

But then everything's extremely small. I need to squint to see how much cash I got, etc.

This may also have to do with your graphics driver settings. How to change this may depend on your graphics card and your installed driver.
On my PC, I can change this by right clicking my desktop, and clicking "Graphics Properties...". After that, I'm presented with this menu:
Setting it to "Scale full screen" removes any black borders for me, and scales the game to fit the entire screen no matter what resolution I use.
