Domerth was impressed with the speed that Larkas had when searching the unconsious cultist.
- why don't you go and search the rest? It could yield a clue to their intentions. If you find any notes on them, do not attempt to break their seals. Hand them over to Halfman.- Domerth said to Larkas.
- Alder, what was it you mentioned about the cult?- He turned his attention to the tall man.- You have ran into them before?

- Not this time Ele.- Nivera replied to the sorceress. Green wisps of energy swirled around Hahn's wound and the dryads right hand. The monk's wound slowly healed.
Magnus took back the flask of firewater from Nivera, and finished it's contents. From the look of it, the dwarf was pissed.
- I really hoped the war was the last time I've seen these buggers. Big guy- He addressed John- You're a wiseass, any ideas how these sods- Magnus kicked one of the dead cultists.- got here?

"Even hunted them down, yes", Alder replied, "That was long ago, however.  I don't know what happened in the meantime, but back then we made sure they've been rooted out - at least in Merinanth.  There isn't much else to it."

- Yeah, I've heard about these bands of militiamen scouring the kingdom for the remnants of the cult along side the agents of Clan Samann. You were a part of them? Interesting.- Domerth said. He then directed some of the men to collect the weapons of the cultists.
There really wasn't much to them, most of the war schytes were converted to weapons from simple farmer's tools. These kind of weapons were common in the many uprisings that happened in North Shandra. The latest one happened 10 years ago, when Domerth was just a lad.
Appearantly this uprising was the last drop in Dragomir's goblet. extreme measures where taken. The lords involved were executed and their families were stripped of all their titles and wealth.

- What a bunch of crap. - Domerth said looking at the pile of weapons. He ordered them stored in one of the wagons, and to be delivered to Northwatch Hold, to be reforged back into tools and handed out to nearby farmsteads.

- The question is lad - Magnus said when he approached Domerth with two tankards in his hands. He offered one to Domerth. - How these sods got past our guards.
Domerth took the mug and sniffed the contents.
- Mead?
- Mead lad. Mead- Magnus said and drank some of his.
- I'll guess we'll see. - Domerth said as he took a sip.

It ended too quickly for her taste. She had slaughtered an entire drove, standing in a pile of bodies and blood. Pain and exhaustion managed to catch up with her and she stumbled away towards the rest of the group. She sat down to catch her breath, working some healing magic on a bruise on her arm. She wasn't particularly good at it, but bruises and small cuts she could handle and once she had recovered she moved around, tending to those with minor injuries. anything bigger she'd leave to the dedicated healers or Nivera would have her head.

Once she had gone her round there was but thing she needed to do and she got out two mugs and filled them with her mead.

"JOHN" she shouted at the giant and handed him the, for the half-giant, rather small mug. "That was one hell of a trip for the poor sod. 'ave some mead to celebrate the greatest accomplishment this battle!"

Larkas does a quick search through the dead. The blood made it difficult to search, even if others participated in the search.

The loot wasn't even worthwhile, for many cultists were armed with weapons. Some of them had some gold, however.

"Eh, what is this?" Larkas finds a notebook. It has a lock, which Larkas manages to bash out. Going quickly through pages, Larkas reads it was a guy that found "new hope" within the cult. Larkas continues to read, but realizes there is some information he would rather not know; there could be descriptions about dark rituals that could involve dead spirits, curses and sacrifices. The dead body also had some strange coins, a resealed note and a tome with a socket. Larkas also takes out the man's ring, which is cold to the touch and has an eye inside a nine point.

"Here, these is the loot from one of the fallen." Larkas shows the items to Halfman.

- You didn't damaged the seals, did you? - The tiny wizard asked Larkas.- No, what am I saying. You're not burned to a crisp, so the seals are fine it seems. - Halfman took a closer look at the ring.
- Yeah, it's the cult allright, the Seal of Jagnir adorns this ring. Did you know the cult believes these rings are forged from the God's own blood? But this tome you found, is very peculiar. Chained up, with a strange lock. I remember seeing something similar back at the relic vault at the Samann academy in Zanaris. You didn't happen to find the keystone for it, did you?- Halfman looked at Larkas with a questioning look in his eyes.
Halfman started to mumble some words as he looked at the note. A bright green flame rose up from the seal and was sucked into a wortex of vacuum in Halfman's right hand. The seal itself disintegrated as the flame was sucked into nothingness.
- If you had damaged the seal, you would be a living torch right now my friend - Halfman aid to Larkas. - So would anyone else. Unless you're of Clan Samann. - He said with a smile. He began reading the note.
- Nothing special here. Just an all out order to attack us, me and the other veterans of the War, and also, Young Dragon in particular. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, you're wiser than you look. - Halfman said to larkas with a wry smile.

"Oh geez." Larkas has a sudden headache. "Who knew trying to open the book would actually kill someone?"

Larkas thinks of a bit that this is the moment when Lady Luck herself has intervened. It's always good to have some luck, especially for a thief.

"Okay, I just need a stiff drink right now."

John took the mug from Bryn, mumbling a sort of thank you and chugged it down absentmindedly. He wasn't much of a drinker, but he could easily consume large amounts of alcohol. Still, he looked too troubled to even make himself look excited.

"This is disturbing," the half-giant said joining Domerth and Magnus, "By all rights we should have finished them the last time we were here. What's even more troubling is that we're not even that far North yet. There are plenty of cities around us, so either the cult of Jagnir is far better supplied than I assumed... or they already have a hold in some of the local towns and villages. We should be careful going into Beryl. And also use our time their to gather some information."

- Aye, we haven't even crossed the mountain pass.- Magnus said. Some of the men were piling up the corpses of the cultists. - Do you think someone smuggled in these sods?
- No time to investigate that. - Domerth said. - But indeed, we must proceed with caution. Once we reach Northwatch Hold, I'll send a message to my Father, informing him on what has happened here.- He looked at the horizon.

- 'Elepaio!- Domerth called out.- Torch this pile of meat, and let's keep moving.

"Are they done? These sudden upheavals aren't good for my concentration." Federigo looked around then thought "Oh, that herb is going to be interesting, I can already imagine it's going to give a peculiar taste..."
He turned his head back onto the wagons and thought: "I need some animals, I need to experiment a new lure, I'm sure those fungi that smelled like rotten corpses are bound to be useful in that regard."
He then snapped again to his senses, and started approaching the front of the expedition, this time he wore the upper part of his armour, just to be sure he wouldn't be caught off guard again.

Evening had dawned ,as the group reached Northwatch Hold.
There were signs of battle however. Corpses of cultists lied scattered around the castle's defenses. The Banner of the Company, as well as banner of Merinanth still flew on the gatehouse of the castle.
- Seems like they tried to take the keep as well- Domerth said.
- And failed spectaculary - Magnus noted. Some of the cultists were torn apart by the dwarven organ guns that adorned the towers of the castle.

The company came closer to the gatehouse
- Open the gate! - Dragomir shouted. The guard looked at them, then turned to give the order.

- Lord Dragonheart has arrived! Open the gate!
Once the group was inside the castle courtyard, they were greeted by old Mikolaj Raddwil. The years in the Brotherhood had changed him from a unsecure young man, into a strong willed and able officer of the Brotherhood. Since the war had ended, he's been the castellan of Northwatch Hold. Mikolaj was wearing his armor, and despite his old age, it seemed that he's still able to fight.

- A little late into the battle Young Dragon- He said.
- We'd ran into the cultists on our way here Lord Raddwil. - Domerth replied, and told the whole story of the ambush, as well as the note found on the cultist leader.
- Interesting tale. - Mikolaj said while scratching his bald head.- So it seems the cult recuperated. Nearly three decades ago we swept the floor with them. Most of us back then thought it was the end of them. - The old castellan sighed.
- Let's go inside the keep. there's food and drink aplenty for you.

While the company was resting and eating dinner in the hall of Northwatch Hold, Domerth took this time to write back to Kunn, about what had happened on the road.

"Oh, what a feast! It looks heavenly!" Larkas doesn't recall the last time he had such high-quality dinner. There is a lot of vegetables, meat and drinks.

While drinking some wine, Larkas asks: "So what's the story about this place?"

- A new blood eh?- Mikolaj asked while looking at Larkas. - Well, Northwatch Hold serves as the first line of Defense against the Cult of Jagnir, as well as any other threat from the North. Even during the cult incursions here in Merinanth, it wasn't taken by the enemy.- He said proudly.

As Mikloaj was telling Larkas about the castle, Domerth returned to the hall for a meal.
- Tell, me Lord Raddwill, when did this cult attack started? - Domerht asked as he cut some of the boar roast into his plate.
- nearing the dawn my lord. We lost a few good men to their crossbows however. After the barrage from the cannons, we went after with our Hussars to squash the rest. - The winged Hussars in service of the Brotherhood were amongst the most feared, and effective troops in Merinanthian military.
- Nearing the dawn. It all matches. While they were distracting you, a band of cultists sneaked passed you, to attack us. They ambushed us halfway between the keep and Kunn.
- But what for?
- We're a hindrance lad.- Magnus joined the conversation.- These blasted sods are after the Malus.
- So it's just like the last time?
- Could be worse. We don't know.
- I think we'll find most of our answers in Beryl.- Domerht said.- Remember what was it like back then?
- Aye, the city was a bloody warzone. Here's hoping that the lads from the Northern Companies maintain their vigil over their cities- Magnus said, raising his tankard.

Alder kept quiet for the most of the feast, listening to the talk and taking a bite of his meal from time to time.  He wasn't happy about the return of the cultists in the slighest - and for a good reason, but a reason that he wasn't willing to disclose;  not now, nor any time soon.

"I must ask, do you have any knowledge about their organization", Alder asked as he lit his pipe, "Where is their seat of power?  Who is the current head of the cult?"
