Change creatures in towns.

Is it possible to change creatures in towns? eg: I want replace bandits with pirates and hydras with sea monsters. I want to create a semi-pirate town

Yes it's possible. Just find this address in the exe:



Then change the 03 to 32 and the 1F to 34. I think that's all you have to do for it

'03' is the bandit and the '32' is the pirate here and the others are hydra and sea mosnter of course. All town dwellings are here around this address.

In this thread you can find the hex codes of all of the creatures and a lot of interesting infos like this.

Then you should edit the Equilibris mod exe file. They run seperately.
In case you want it to be your own mod and keep the original Equilibris mod as it is, just copy the equi mod exe, edit that and you can rename it to your liking.

You must change faction in txt table! Eg might to order! Word might is executable! Non only desription!

Sorry if a necro a old post... but i have forgotten how to swap units by hex editor. I want to change ghost to gargoyle. The Ghost hex is 19 25 and the gargoyle is 17 23. Well i have change all the „19 25” to „17 23” and nothing worked (of course i have make a safe copy of the .exe).


My Knowledge about hex-editing is very low, not to say then nothnig

Could someone tell me what excaly line/numbers i have to change?

Creature hex is a single hex

You don't exhange ghost to gargoyle. You exchange in a town...

What you need to change is the the hex value of creature produced by a town building.

So you go to hex

.00985464 barrow mound        

.00585464 in other editors not Ida Pro

Then you change 19 - Ghost
For 17 - Gargoyle

Gargoyle is already Death faction (if it was another then you would have to change alignement in table) so that is it.

The presence of unused offsets for town buildings of neutral creatures like goblin kinght suggest a possible extra faction was planned (probably aligned with Hexis but we will never know).

Well i manage to change the values and make the swap. But the manual is „bad” written, it’s written for someone who has some knowledge about HexEdit.

example:

In the manual is written that value of the barrow mound is .00985464 BUT in my HexEdit it was .00985460. I'm aware that it’s some hocus-pocus-hexing value. That a programmer is aware of… But for a not-programmer it’s black magic!


A Manual HexEdit for "dummies" here would be useful.

Differrence is only minus 400000. Simple hxdeditor has always minus 400000.
Its easy because units are in lvl and city order and if you are watching it one below the other vertically.
76 000000
54 000000
14 000000
etc.
Easy.
