Drakon got that right. Star Ocean Second Story was pretty much the one I enjoyed the most, for the fast-paced action in battles, many skills to meddle with, secrets, characters to choose from, abilities that would evolve through proficiency, an interesting story and a hard secret dungeon and boss, which influenced the last boss as well.
I liked Grandia and Chrono Cross very much. The latter had such wonderful OST, although too many characters you ended up not growing too fond of them. Which is the forte of Grandia, where you really got into your characters and loved them.
Parasite Eve, Xenogears and Valkyrie Profile I just watched a friend of mine playing, when we alternated playing on his Playstation.
