1 it is, it was a sudden encounter, a video on youtube, that bloody battle for the grail made like a japanese game show, I fell from my chair, as I heard that the characters were named after classes, fighting in the most idiotic ways. And then the Grand Prix for the grail, the cats, all of them recreated the interest to something that was tainted by seasons of Naruto.
And then I watched LoGH, and it cemented my love. I have to admit it came later, though it remains my favourite to this day, it accompanied my sessions of biking and my days of fever, I tried to watch an episode every chance I had, to the point of binging it until night came, it was the only one I didn't care about the time I watched it.
Fate:Zero came natural after Carnival Phantasm and Stay Night, I enjoyed it a lot, I showed it to my brother, who at the time was sceptical liked it, it's in my own corner of favourites.
GuP had a lot of leverage, I love tanks, and even if it was a cutesy show, I loved it, actually it sparked my love for moe. Also, Anchovy Duce, 'nuff said.
Later, once I moved I started my anime nights, and I wanted some of the forbidden fruit of my childhood, gory, violent and scary anime.
And that's how I came to Higurashi, liked it a lot, I even got moved in some scenes. There was much less gore than I expected tho.
And Death Note was one of the few I watched dubbed, it was a summer view with my brother, a friend of his and my cousin. We laughed a lot, especially with Teru Mikami, who in Italian was funny as hell when he was screaming "ELIMINATO", and of course when he said "DIO!"

Honestly I never understood the fascination for anime. Other than nostalgic childhood series, I've only watched like, several (5-9) shows from start to finish, and while I did like them I have no desire to watch others.
It's just another storytelling medium, much like movies and comics are so there is little reason to sinle it out in particular. Granted there are a lot of crappy series but the good can be really good.
Carnival phantasm, really? You'd have enjoyed it more if you watched fate stay night and/or played tsukihime vn first. Too cute for my standards but has some genuinely fun moments. LoGH's sheer number of episodes gives me pause but I will watch before long, quality shall not be denied!
