Other it's psychology, if you use a introspection, but you can't tell to blind.

Thoughts having a color, never felt or understood things that way. About the flag, the image of it briefly flashes in my mind. I think that's how it works with everything, the brain tries to remember the information you perceived at the time, be it an image, sound, touch, smell, etc. Personally, I don't think you can think of anything in the form of "pure information".

I am with Stevie on this one. With the Japanese flag example, I clearly see the flag with my mind's eye, based on the general parameters of what a flag looks like, combined with the specifics of the Japanese flag. I don't have some abstract concept that's without an image, if that's what you mean - but that's because I have seen examples of flags in general aplenty and the Japanese flag in particular, for me to know what images I can conjure about it in my mind's eye.
When discussing something that I have never seen, my mind is struggling and filling in the blanks with its own creativity - which, in the case of creating stories and adventures is quite useful  . Think about the setting, the scenery, what the actors in it look like, etc ... I don't think about those things in abstract forms, without shape or color; I see settings like those as if I would be watching a movie.

Interestingly enough, the more I see or experience, the more realistic and accurate my dream-generated content is. It builds up my dream realism so to say.
It's not quite the same as visualizing something but there is definitely a correlation.

I imagine numbers as colors. 58 is a brown-red color, while 69 is a dark green.
