Just think about it, when the AI casts spells how often do you think damn that was a very clever choice it made there, probably rarely. So it does'nt take much to make the AI better in the spells department, HotA did it too, by allowing AI to cast Berserk, when it casts Berserk on 4 of your most powerful stacks it's pretty scary.

It's alright if you feel might heroes are better and yes they will usually have more Attack and Defense, but magic heroes will have more Power and Knowledge, which translates to more powerful spells and more spells, which can be just as good depending on a lot of stuff. Things that can completely ruin magic heroes are Orb of Inhibition and Recanter's Cloak, both which I don't think are allowed in HotA.

Against me AI mostly tries to cast Slow or Blind in their first turn and that is usually a pretty good choice, after that it depends a lot on what I tricked it to do. I agree that Berserk and Cure the blinded stacks are new tricks that often make my attempts a bit harder but there are tricks against that too.

My point is that having mass slow early is better than having expert logistics. Mass slow immediately improves your creeping ability, while expert logs do it graduately - by allowing you to fight more, get more artifacts, experience, visit more stats boosters and so on.

Just because mass slow is op it doesnt mean that everything else is balanced Logistics are also op, just not as good as mass slow early game.

I would say that it depends on the Town you're playing and wether or not you get a eg Barbarian, Beastmaster etc in the start or not.
Some Towns can really make great use of Expert Earth Magic while other Towns can skip it completely and still clear the map very efficiently.

Guys who are Earth fans mentioned Slow & Town Portal as OP spells, but don't forget another star - View Earth. Using this to look at the map, one can find out where each of the enemies' castle are with high certainty, and can plan for effective ambushes. It is with this spell that later you can use Town Portal

I never used / liked the "view xxx" spells. Don't understand the craze about them, but it's also true that I never play against human players, so probably that's why I don't find these spells useful
