We all dream of a "Heroes III 2", but what if only Heroes III can be Heroes III ? As I said in another post:

"While some part of me sympathizes with the idea of remaking Heroes III Complete, my good sense urges me to repel the thought, because, truth be told, it is not going to work, not matter how hard they try. Heroes III is superb, no question about that, but the mere idea that a product which mimics its carcass could be nearly as superb as the original is foolish, and I give you two reasons for that: first, Heroes III is widely reguarded as the pinnacle of the series, it stands unscathed in the peak of the gaming art. Games can (and constantly are) be compared to it, but itneeds no comparison; it simply is enough in itself, period. That is, a remake would not be a product on its own, but merely a shadow of the original. The second reason is quite more clear in showing why it would not work: nobody can pin the reason(s) why Heroes of Might and Magic III is so goddamn epic. Is it the music ? (Then why is Heroes IV regarded as the ugly duckling of the series?) Is its tremenduously atmospheric graphics ? (could be that too!) But what if we need to include every single element of Heroes III in order to capture its soul? Well, in that case, it just begs the question: "why remake it, then?"
That said, we all love Heroes III, because it has an ineffable ingredient that we cannot describe, but we all recognize as deeply significant. Nothing more can be said. Also, I honestly do not the reason why we should pursue this line; the HotA crew is doing an amazing job, this game is more alive than ever, there's even a new faction coming (soonish), what more could we want?(besides doing some justice to the wizard class, let us not forget that "

I initially thought it was a rip-off of Darkest Dungeon's town.
Then I saw that at the very least the units seem to be partly original, so maybe it's a good enough artist to imitate them (Hopefully for him).

But you all have forgot the most important part.

This guy doesn't seem to have anything to do with Ubisoft, so this project would surely face some copyright issues.

Heroes-like games are always welcome, but this just seems like a complete rip-off. The presentation video says it's "homm3 inspired," but everything is just sooo from homm3 Castle, that it's not even funny.

Yes, nobody would be able to remake a homm 3, but there is no doubt that homm 3 is outdated even if it s a gem and even if it was awesome at its time. It is enough, as you said, but for that time. The gaming industry constantly evolves and it even evolves at a higher rate than others industries (the IT industry in general).

That is why a homm 3 is not enough in the NOW. The other games raised the bar higher and higher and playing homm 3 is dull comparing to other games. That is why Mm6 and 7 did not work. Not only they were less diverse than homm 5 and 3 (which is one of the reasons why they stood out) they also kept the old gameplay as it was. And, yes, you might argue that ‘we want it to be that way, a conservative way’, but this is not how a game series should be. Each installment of the series should ve brought more mechanics while keeping old mechanics and not only improving the graphics.

I ll also tell you why homm 4 was that bad. It s not the music, (maybe) not even the graphics, because while they look really bad (grotesque quite) from close up, they look pretty well from afar and the environment blended colorfully as a fantasy setting. It's the lack of diversity. That was all I could think of when I first saw homm 4 back in 2000-something. How could they get from 9 cities to 6? How could they get rid of the creature upgrade mechanic? How could they not keep 7 tiers per faction? Sure, you had 8 units to choose from, but I didn't feel nearly enough nor right. It felt like a setback. And diversity was actually what made homm 3 awesome. Even homm 2 was more diverse than 4 and, yes, I am aware that the number of factions is the same, but homm 2 factions had at least 5 tiers and half of them had upgrades. This is also why homm 5 was that good: alternative upgrades in 8 factions. MM6 and 7 are not even mentionable even though they had good graphics. So it's clearly not the graphics, but the mechanics.

I might sound determined, but if it’s not this, then what is it? What are the characteristics that make you smile when u think about the homm series or each homm installment?

Is it the gameplay, the turn-based strategy found in each of them, a thing that makes this series the homm series? Now, what makes you smile when you think about the best of the series, homm 3 and 5 (putting them together because they really had something in common)?

Is it the diversity? Homm 5 was lucky enough to receive this treatment, because many fans complained about the Warhammer/warcraft visuals, so it’s not necessarily the graphics. And it also had a more complex skill tree/hero development. Now, what makes you smile when you think about homm 4, ‘the ugly duckling’? We all, die hard fans, played the game. We can really see what made us disappointed and which features made it interestingly enough to play the campaigns.

The lore (campaigns) were well written, the hero development was much better than the previous ones and the battlefield hero (so good that WoG succeeded in implementing the mechanic in homm 3 and even homm 5 had it to some degree) was something great, the music was good. It’s the lack of diversity and the graphics.

If anyone is to make a homm 3 like game, he should not look only in the homm garden and take what is best and remove the worst, but also look outside the garden to see how things are going. Leave the games as they are and learn from them.
