I agree that H3 is very replayable, but I have to ask - is this just because there are many factions each of which plays differently from the others, or is there more to it?

Immersion contributes a lot to a game's replayability, especially for a game like H3 (mythological TBS game) where you get virtually connected to a world of legendary creatures and heroes. And to achieve immersion you need to get all other elements right (background sound, crystal clear adventure map since this is where you will be spending most of the time with in a game like H3, and last but not least the creatures' design... oh, also the tactical element of the game which, in a strategy game, comes from the many variables that make sense most of the time)

Good stuff. Thanks.

@Monere

I never played H1 and H2 before playing H3. I just knew them (the creatures) from stories, novels, mythology itself (northern, european, african, asian, american, especially southern one, etc.) and many more sources. I also started to play H3 a while after H5 was released, and it was nice to play both of them and all 4 King's Bounty games from 2008 to 2015 (the last one was pretty much crap, tho, because of imba, bad storytelling and different dev team, the rest are awesome). I always compared the creatures in those games and their differences or similarities (Black Dragons are technically the same in all of these 6 games, only that in the 4 KBs they walk on 4 legs like in H4 and can fly and breathe fire over troops each 3 turns).

I thought that you knew them from there... Anyway, the idea of Dragons breathing fire once every 3 turns is pretty interesting to be honest, and given the multitude of dragons in H3 they could have give this ability to one of them, albeit a bit more powerful since it triggers less. Oh well... I'll take the game as it is for now and maybe in a future HoMM game we will see it

But it deals like 15% more damage and you can strike even 5 units if lucky

Anyway, Monere, I tought about this a lot: I should make a thread comparing troops (like Black Dragons) from all HoMM and also King's Bounty games. Maybe other games too if people suggest them. This could give many ideas to modders.

Red Dragons in KB can breathe a column of fire straight in any direction every 3 turns. However, they aren't a base creature for Blackies, since the game has no upgrades.

Edit: Black Dragon (KB)

Use Google Translate that comes with the browser, unless you know russian.

There's plenty of good feedback on this forum already, enough to create 2 amazing HoMM games, so I don't think you should waste your time with it. I think you're better off with putting your time into playing the game

Which game? (cus I replayed all of them on no-loss Impossible difficulty already, and HoMM I still play)

And well, I do want to do it, but not on this thread, of course, just to make a comparison between similar creatures, since I think it would be nice.

Edit: (For everyone) You can suggest me what creatures should I do first. Most HoMM creatures (~95%+) can be found in KB too. You can also suggest other TBS games, so I can compare their creatures too.

oh, wait! I misread your previous reply. I don't know why, but I've read that you want to create a thread with suggestions for a new HoMM game (which there are plenty of on HC). But instead you said you wanted to create a thread about comparing creatures from HoMM and other franchises, so I had to re-read your reply because something wasn't adding up. My bad

Yeah, you could do that and if you do it drop me a note cause I want to see the differences

Other TBSes: Wargroove has a semi-active competitive scene. Premodern ages in Civ may be interesting too, but Civ is a game of macro, not micro. Endless Legend is kind of Heroes-but-4X, and has a lot of factions similar to Heroes (and IIRC was made by disaffected former Ubi employees).

Gonna take a look at them. Civ I knew already and was planning to add too. Around how many % creatures are similar to those in HoMM? Like Blackies, Lich, etc.

Edit: As not to become too off-topic for this thread, you should send me your suggestions by PM-ing me. I don't blame you (Alon) for posting here, since I didn't come up with this by then, and I think it's okay to keep your comment here. Anything else about the suggestions I'll talk in PM.
