So I went after the recommendation and started to watch Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru again. Can't say I'm not enjoying it but it's this type of anime where dialogues are really awkward. I mean, is this how High Schoolers behave? Doesn't matter, will probably finish it either way, but I hope it shifts to a higher gear soon.

Still waiting for S2 of Classroom of the Elite.

Funnily enough I often confuse the MC from it with the one from High school love comedy. No idea how.

Same here, waiting for that sequel. I hear the manga's doing quite well right now.

No idea, I can't remember my high school being that way. But I think it's believable enough that some people could end up in the sort of position and with the sort of personality traits the main protagonists have. And the psychology is kinda relatable (to various degrees depending on the person), especially 8man from what I read on the boards. I think the whole character interaction is actually pretty deep if you get to understand why they're doing what they're doing.

I can't quite get into the series as it's a bit different type of slice of life/drama I am accustomed to, but I can at least relate to the main character. I mean, despite the traditional "drop dead" gimmicks, the MC does how some good observations. While I wasn't a loner in my life (I've always had at least a couple of friends around me, and still have people I can call friends) there were many times when I thought I'm simply out of place, being fed up with all the interactions and phonyness of people or elusiveness of the "here and now" of life (especially in my high school years). I was like "why do I need to get along with this in the first place?". It's easier to be a loner because the more you interact with people the more conflicts can arise from that. It's how humans work. The problem with the series is that it's still this type of a story that isn't likely in rl: a loner and outcast getting two cute girl friends (or potentially even more)? Yeah right... I keep watching the series still, hoping it will eventually pick up its pace.

Damn, Charon in Fire Force S2 S3 probably has one the most epic entrances of antagonists in anime history. This is pure gold man.

Idk i absolutely loved Yahari. I have a personal affinity with the MC who actually solves most of the problems in a very effective Machiavelian style. I dont think  that you need to be a loner to get it. Then again it does require a lone wolf mentality.

Same deal with Class Room of the Elite but with the MC completely embracing the Lone Wolf personality. More on the psychopath tier. Brilliant to watch tho.

Btw guys, I recommend watching Deca-Dence. It starts off pretty normal, but no longer then episode 2 and we're already getting a huge plot twist. If they play it smartly this might be one of the most original series in recent years.

Uhm.. Alright. I knew about him getting toyed with by the witch from the novels (long time ago), but the last scene with his dad was completely unexpected.

So far, I like the anime a lot, solid 3 episodes. They managed to keep the momentum from the past season, keeping the same pace and narration style. It's the calm before the storm though, there's that looming thought that ****'s about to get real at some point.

I also finished K-On!. Moe levels through the roof. Music was... uneventful and generic compared to other series. It was mildly enjoyable, but I'd be hard pressed to give it more than a 7/10, I had a bit higher hopes. Maybe the second season's better.

Yea, I edited a spoiler in, gotta be considerate. I had the same approach to watching them until not too long ago. Just wait for the current season to finish and binge all the good ones. It's fairly efficient. Still think I have a bunch to see from this year's seasons, need to go back and check. Probably the firemen one and Dorehedoro.

So the second season of Yahari is better then the first. Characters are less aloof, there is more emotional impact behind what those characters do, and I finally think we are getting somewhere with this. But I still can't tell how realistic their interactions are (it's especially creepy how the female teacher is close to our protagonists, sometimes I think she would like to actually go out with the MC).

But say what you want I think MC's Imotou is the best character in the series. Not only cute, but she's pretty smart and cares for her brother in a really genuine way.

PS: Do these people actually do school stuff? You know, like studying, exams and such?

In many anime like this one the school part is just about the setting and the social interaction between characters in such roles as students, teachers, etc. with no actual academical pursuit being emphasized or shown. Some do that episodically, some make it a clear point like Assassination Classroom or High School of the Elite where grades matter for story and character development.
*Removed the spoiler tag, I think it's not that necessary here, don't want to overdo it either.

EDIT: Uhm, so.. is God of High School gonna suffer from the same "syndrome" as of Tower of God? Feels clunky and rushed again. I really wasn't impressed by the latest episode, even though the two heavy minutes at the end kinda salvaged it. People also arguing over whether the adaptation is doing justice or not to the source material. I'm pretty much on the fence and patiently taking my time, but I can see the point.

This episode was a bit off putting yeah, but I would not make a big deal from it. I think the series is at its best when not doing the "slice of life" bits, but we need some context to show the characters motivations. The idea was to show the interactions between our protagonists and slam us with the last two minutes. I think they did a good job with this and I wonder how it will impact the story going forth.

Monster Musume Doctor - it's not so heavy on the ecchi part, but it's enjoyable as the monster girls are pretty cute. It's actually a decent fantasy slice of life/light action comedy. I like it so far.

Oh and I devoured the whole Yahari Ore up to the newest episode in one fell swoop. Still not sure how to describe my stance towards the series. It definately is enjoyble but I think it misses some elements for me.

EDIT: Re Zero S2 - OMG such a powerful episode. I can so much relate to Subaru. This series just can't stop to amaze me...

Yea, episode was a bit dramatic, but pretty damn good. Kinda weird family though, his mother especially with her allure, made me think there would be a twist at some point. Might've been reading too much into it.

*Minor spoilers*
For a time there I thought this whole situation is your standard "deathflag" scenario were at the end it turns out Subaru's parents die in an accident (I literally thought at some point his mother will be run over by a train as she was standing on the tracks haha ) and he never will have a chance to cope with them. But for now we don't know all the facts (I rather stay clear from spoilers alas I'm dying to know what will happen next). Btw with Echidna at the end of episode waiting in school I wonder if the Witches are aware that Subaru is from another world (at least the other ones, because I assume at least Satella, or whoever is invading Subaru's being, is aware).

Oh and his family: I think there is simply good chemistry between them. I mean they are pretty delicate with his depression, because the worst thing you can do is to further press on a depressed person. His father, being a jock and all, might've very well be like "get your s*it together son!", but "getting a grip" is not that easy so kudos for how he handles it... btw his family looks to be a type of a Japanese middle or upper-middle class I think, they have a pretty big, Western-style house. Furthermore I think his mother does not work at all and is a housewife, his father being the families breadwinner (his strong fatherly figure might further explain Subaru's complex about "protecting" others, especially females).
*End*

This episode is deep for me as I also had a similar situation as I was a teenager. I was a pretty good student in primary school, you know, good grades and school competitions and such. And because my parents have what you might call a clear career path I was always in the shadow of that (not that they were pressing, but you might know how it is when you want to be like your parents, and even your environment suggests it). But at one point I stopped being the "top student", especially in High School. That brought me a lot of anxiety and even depression like states at some point as I wasn't sure of what path to take after the school. Well I didn't become a neet (I hope ) but I can definitely relate to Subaru, why he closed in his shell etc (I didn't like to go to school for instance because I hated my class in High School). Fortunately I'm pretty content with my life and choices I made at this point and people I've met.

The anime/LN has such a big impact on me because I not only like how it is well written and twisty, but also how much I can relate to the MC. There's probably no other "such humanely" character I can think of in M&A. This episode alone makes me want to give this season a 10, although I will hold with this

Do you recall character names easily? I have found to remember characters for their appearance and actions rather than their moniker. Even main characters' names from animes I've greatly enjoyed have been swallowed by my forgetfulness.

It depends. Some names are recurring (every name in Japan has a symbolic meaning so many characters can be named the same due to their characteristics like Yuki which means snow etc especially in shounen). If those are complicated I'll probably forget them. Western names in anime are ofc easier to remember. But if repeated enough times Japanese names will stay with you...

I never make any mental effort to keep track of names. Haven't paid any attention to see if I forget names easier than I used to but it's easier for a name to stick if you've heard it from elsewhere.
