while the right part is not a rainbow and is definitely queer/trans coded,
I don't think this is such a big deal. In the USA dozens of multinational companies change themselves to "rainbow colors" to show "gay positivity" and even have specific products for this such as "rainbow oreos"
LEGO will mostly go with any fad, they have numerous pro-cop sets for example.
Also they made special deep sea oil drilling for shell which prompted Greenpeace to make an anti-lego publicity.
But really, what do you think their pieces are made of?
It's not ecological vegetable matter that's for sure.

I think they started producing 18+ sets this year. I know that the bust sets are all 18+.

...why is it 18+?
nevermind, i checked it out myself. apparently lego's for adults is merely using lego's to build a model. while it looks cool, it certainly stifles creativity to build something that somebody else drew the plans up for, instead of making something with your own imagination.
i remember the loc blocs(bulkier lego knock-off) when i was a kid, making whatever i wanted out of them and constructing whole scenarios based on what i made. hell, combining those with lincoln logs were the snow. i used to make my own little worlds with every toy i had. and when i didn't have toys, i used gravel, sticks, or whatever i had at my disposal.
guess imaginations were ok to have back then.
...wow. i just found that loc blocs used to have build kits just like lego's. all my poor ass ever had were a bag of loose loc blocs. oh well. i guess i'm grateful we were(still are) poor. i could have turned out like the dimwits, and had a happier life.

To promote the AFOLs and the such afaIk. At least that's what the guys on Brickset seemed to say. And ofc, most 18+ sets seem to be more like "collection" sets rather than playsets.

I had my doubts about it's legitimacy as a real lego set, like that bs modern artist who made a Lego Auschwitz set,but the serial number of the set does appear on Brickset, listed under 'unreleased' sets.
In all fairness though it has little value to afols and moc makers. only pieces of somewhat value are the minifig hair pieces. Judging from the promo image, the parts list is basic, and I doubt anyone would buy this just for the parts. only ones who will buy it for 'real reasons' are your average redditors and other betas sperging about muh inclusivity and muh diversity . Which to be fair, LEGO did very well in their city line.

It depends on a set. For example some "wig" or "parts" of minifigs might have unique color set-up or print. And if the set has a limited run it also raises the price when it goes out of stock. But the thing is: I don't know if Lego cares about aftermarket sales. So the only factor here might be supply and demand.
That said it's not SW, Marvel or a limited Creator set, so I don't think it will fetch that big of a price (but I'm no expert).
@FirePaladin
Yes, it is probably related to Lego accepting afols and nerds as one of their main sources of income

let's get this straight, yes intended, go cry to Cor.
This dumbass lego sculpture isn't something like UCS Millennium Falcon, so I really doubt it's demand is that high. even with the hair pieces,as these are just recolors of basic City line hair pieces. now granted some of those sculpts and colors may be pricey on ye olde bricklink, but not much else.
And yeah, Lego doesn't really care about resellers, otherwise companies like Brickmania, and the mentioned bricklink site would be axed long ago.

Yeah it's speculation at this point I guess. I only know from my afol friend that there is this kind of tendency than when people selling Lego want to make a profit, they look when a set is going to be withdrawn and buy multiple sets to sell them later for a % higher price. We're not talking huge profits, as only singular sets are getting like 4x higher price in aftermarket (and this still gets higher as time passes), alas it's still a way to profit if you know what you are doing. But we are ofc talking about a set being withdrawn, and that is still far off in this case.

It was always like that. Back in the 1980’s when I was a kid, there were only 3 kind of legos, modern city life, medieval and space. I liked the space ones and they always came with an instruction kit of a specific model spaceship or moon base etc, whatever’s on the box. I also never stuck to that and built my own ships. It’s your choice. And then you write your space war scenarios with them. Every kid does that, I guess.
And of course, a simple stick was always the best choice while roleplaying because according to how your scenario improvised, it could be a sword, paddle, rifle, shovel, torch at the same time.
