Always good to see new members, though. They are rare nowadays. I used to be new as well. Now I'm getting old and haunt this place more than I post. Most people won't even remember what I used to do here. Alas, how time flies...

Hehe... thats okay
at the time, the nickname made me feel kinda rotten, but it is pretty cool. I was a 10 yearold girl and already I had a badass name like Roadkill. You don't mess with a warlady named Roadkill...
Though the way my best friend describes the accident, you'd think the jeep was going five miles an hour and i ran out infront of it >.< he didn't get a scratch but did get a perfect view.
Was fun ^.^
I'll have to find some way to work Roadkill into my heroes playing... if only the Forge town had been built for Armageddon's blade, eh? ^.^

You could try it with the Heroes 4 Academy town. Getting trampled by a dragon golem could do the trick.

Well, you're in luck, since Ubisoft recently rereleased them. They should be easier to find now than, say... 4 months ago.
Beware, for the moment you set eyes on Heroes 4, you join the battle of which title was better. Heroes 4 is in my opinion a good game, although radically different from Heroes 3. Other people will give you another opinion.

Whats the deal with 3do/NWC/Ubisoft...?
I'm thoroughly confused. My first purchase was MM7 way back, then i got HOMM3 (ROE though i lent it to a friend and then had to move before getting it back...) and there seems to be so much mystery...
oh well.

In that case, I should give you a bit of history:
NWC is the company which used to create the games. In this story, they are the "good guys". 3DO is the producer. In this story, they are the "bad guys".
NWC created the early M&M games and Heroes 1. If I recall correctly, they were absorbed by 3DO before Heroes 2 was created, so that game went on 3DO's name. Might and Magic VI, VII, VIII and IX and Heroes 3RoE, 3AB, 3SoD, 4GNW, 4TGS and 4WoW were also produced at this time.
Now, 3DO for some reason got into trouble with it's money. Might and Magic VI was an enourmous success. Might and Magic VII was also pretty good. But then 3DO got pushy and they wanted NWC to produce games as fast as possible. Might and Magic VIII was produced only a year later and it's quality was heavily going down. Might and Magic IX came out a year after that and it was obviously unfinished. Done in seven months, whereas a game like that usually takes 2 years (pity, IMO, because it would have been a good game if properly done).
Heroes 4 also suffered from this lack of funding and rushed release dates, although not to the extend of Might and Magic. But the two expansions for Heroes 4 were obviously cheap attempts to cash in on the title quickly.
In May 2003 (IIRC), 3DO filed for bankrupcy. NWC was dissolved and the Heroes and the Might and Magic titles were put on the auction block. Ubisoft bought the titles for $1.3 million and has been using them since. We're still waiting for Heroes 5, which is in the process, be it with delay. Ubisoft has also been working on Might and Magic for cellphones (which unexpectedly turned out quite successful) and a Heroes MMORPG for the Asian market. Ubisoft has also been publishing some new unmodified copies of Heroes 3 and 4.

Now I understand
Poor NWC... it seems a lot of companies are being forced to produce games way to quickly. A lot of games just feel half-finished if even that far done.
Thus why I like older games I think. Or maybe its just I like pc games more than console these days, and new PC games wont run on my cpu? -chuckles-
Either way... I might look into getting a copy of heroes 4... though I may read up on it first to see if i like the look of it.

That was actually in my later days, when my quality was going down already. Does anyone still remember the great Rebellion of the Void or the many, many hours that I spend in the Altar of Wishes to almost completely design Heroes 5 with side ideas, plotlines, etc. everywhere?
Where are the days that you still had to put up ten constructive posts and be named poster of the month in order to gather one lousy QP. Nowadays, they hand them out for one-sentence replies if they happen to make a moderator smile...

Advice huh..
Well, when at the zone - The rooms that are locked but say things like toh/ww/oracle and description says msg for pass, then it means that they play all those mentioned leagues and that they want you to spam them about their password

Hello all.
This is my first day and I actually do have newcomer questions.
1. How do I add a signature to my posts like others do?
2. How do I add text beneath my avatar like others have?
3. Is there some secret(i.e. faster)way to search the thread titles that hasn't been made obvious so I don't make my first thread a copycat of some other thread?
4. Do instructions for using the posting screen exist anywhere? I've never posted before and I'm flying blind as far as using the tools on the post screen goes.
I guess that's all to start with. I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes by. THX!
