Let's see...(thinking hard)....hmmm...I can't come up with any level 3 creatures that cannot be bought in towns. Waspworts and the four elementals can be purchased in creature portals...so the answer must be 'ice demons'. I almost forgot them!

Answers to Quiz.

All right, here are the answers to the Quiz.

Easy difficulty:

Which 4th level nature creature has a rebirth specialty?

Phoenix

Which magic school does the hypnotize spell belong to?

Order

Which alignment can build a magic dampener?

Might

The necromancy secondary skill belongs to which primary skill?

Death Magic

Normal difficulty:

How many hitpoints does a black dragon have?

400

Name the two third level creatures that chaos can build.

Efreet and Nightmare.

Which unit has the highest combat map movement?

Devil (50)

With which primary skill does a sorcerer start?

Chaos magic

Advanced difficulty:

What do magi and venom spawn have in common except for the fact that they both can attack from a distance?

The intended answer was: they can both poison their enemies. @ Shadow_elf: You're right that they have similar combat movement. I didn't think about it but I didn't count it as a wrong answer either.
@ Djive: I wouldn't dare to disagree with you that a spellcaster is completely different from a shooter.

Which flyer hast the lowest movement?

The evil eye with a movement of 6.

How many creatures does a 'company' consist of?

100-249

A hero without any movement modifiers
travels with an imp and a ghost. What is his adventure map movement?

A hero will never be the slowest member of an army. Imps and ghosts have both an adventure map movement of 28, so the hero can move with a movement of 28 too.

What's the weekly base growth rate of gargoyles?

8

Expert difficulty:

Which creature has a fire attack but no fire resistance specialty?

The black dragon. The fire attack special is a curse, not a blessing. Since it lacks the fire resistance specialty (which is a blessing) one black dragon will be easily destroyed by two phoenixes (it does only half damage, but takes full damage).

How many leprechauns can you buy weekly from a creature portal (no modifiers)?

You can summon 100 Xp worth of creatures every day. The Xp value from normal difficulty is always used. Since the leprechaun is worth 7 Xp and you can summon 700 Xp weekly, you can summon 100 leprechauns every week. Answer: 100.

What's the special ability of the guildmaster?

The guildmaster's class ability (nobility+scouting) gives his melee attack the chance of stunning an enemy.

How many damage does a cursed unicorn do against a stack of centaurs, which is under influence of the dragon strength spell?

The unicorn does a minimum damage of 13. It has an attack skill of 20, while centaurs have a defense of 10. Therefore, the damage modifier=20/10=2. The unicorn does 2x13=26 damage. The dragon strength spell does not influence that.

How many percent does fortune decrease damage? Edit: When the luck effect is applied, that is.

The damage done decreases by 1/3 or 33.3%. This equals a beneficial spell which increases a unit's defense by 50%.

Explain what the cloak of distraction is good for (in your own words please )

When equipped, this artifact prevents neutral creatures/heroes from attacking you in their turn. Or: you don't have to worry about being attacked by neutral creatures/heroes in their turn if you are moving to an area marked by a yellow arrow.

How much spell points does the resurrection spel cost?

A lot, 20.

Impossible difficulty:

A hero must defeat 500 sea monsters. He only has a Tynan's dagger of despair. He has no powerups, no artifacts, no creatures and knows no spells. Which primary and secondary skills should he have to win?

The hero needs to be a witch king with at least master melee. 'The witch king's class ability causes his attack to send out a wave of Fear that keeps it opponent from retaliating. After the attack, the opponent struck by fear runs away for a short distance'. Whenever it is the sea monsters' turn, the witch king will strike first, inflicting fear and causing the sea monsters to swim/crawl back without having actually made the attack. The Tynan's dagger of dispair is needed to absolutely make sure that the witch king has his retaliation back when the sea monsters attack.

Which might creature has the highest magic resistance and why (I do NOT mean on which creature it is least attractive to cast spells on)?

Ironically, the alignment which probably needs magic resistance the most, has no creatures that come with it. Except for the berserker that is, who is immune to all forms of fear. The berserker is for example immune to the terror spell that can be cast by nightmares.

What's the maximum percentage of creatures that can be resurrected after battle?

A very tricky question. Grandmaster resurrection gives 50% resurrection. The cardinal advanced class (nobility+life) adds 5% tot that. The Saint Rainan's staff adds another 20%(!) to that. And the ankh of life adds another....10%(!). The description of the ankh says it increases the skill by 5%, but actually it is 10%. Great, 3DO, what is the next error ? Anyway, the maximum percentage of creatures that can be resurrected after battle=50+5+10+20=85%!

How many attacks can a unit or hero at most make in its own turn (for example, a berserker can normally make two attacks).

A hero with grandmaster melee can make 2 attacks. Equipping the sword of swiftness makes that 3. Casting cat reflexes makes that 4. Drinking a potion of quickness makes that...still 4 because unfortunately the potion and the cat reflexes spell do not work cumulatively.

Also, a grand elf can make 2 attacks. The cat reflexes spell makes that 3. And the bow of the elf king makes that 4 too.

A blessed thunderbird attacks a hero with basic combat, basic magic resistance. Two magic dampeners are built. The heroes has no artifacts or spells cast upon him. How much damage does the thunderbird do?

The thunderbird does both melee damage and magical damage. A blessed thunderbird will do 40 base damage. It has an attacks skill of 30, while the hero has a defense skill of 15. 30/15=2---->the thunderbird does 80 melee damage.

A thunderbird normally does 30 magical damage. Basic magic resistance will decrease that by 30% which makes it 21 damage. The first magic dampener decreases that amount of 21 by 10% which makes it 18.9 damage. The second magic dampener will decrease that amount of 18.9 by another 10%, which makes it 17.01 damage.

The total damage done should be 80+17.01=97.01 damage. However, the computer rounds that number off to 98. Answer: the thunderbird does 98 damage.

Well, next time I will pose not so many questions, I will have to lay down for some time now . But thanx for reading!

All right then, I will post who has the best score. I received an IM from Klauts that he had one fault in the easier questions, which gives him a total of 15. That is the same as Djive. So...both win!!!

Quote:

I also thought that when I asked the question. But when I tested it, I could resurrect 85 out of 100 squires. Another test revealed that this was due to the ankh. By the way, did you know that Faerie Dragons are excellent in blowing up large stacks of first level units of your own?

Quote:

Q:What number of vamps is at least necessary to defeat a blackie?

In this thread http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?FID=4&TID=6152 is stated that you need 5 vampires, if I remember well . But that is only true if the black dragon doesn't wait at the appropriate moments to let the vamps retaliate less. So if both stacks are controlled to the best of their ability, you need more than 5 vamps to kill a blackie.

Wow, many of these questions are hard. But here's a try:

What lv3 creature has the most Hp and how much Hp is it?
The nightmare, 110 hp.

What's lowest price for a lv 4 creature?

That should either be the thunderbird or the champion. I don't know the prizes by heart, but I guess a champion is something like 2000 gold (+resources) and the thunderbird 1750 (+resources). So I think it is the thunderbird.

What's the total income(gold)/day you can get from 2 fully built towns?

Depends. If the grail is built in both towns (is that possible?), you get 1000+3000(?)+1000+3000(?)=8000 gold. But your daily income can be almost infinite if you have an unlimited number of cash and 2 treasuries built.

Which creature skill is the best(can be more than 1 answers)?

Hmmm...hard to say. Skills that come to mind are spellcaster ability, life draining, area attack or devouring ability. But ultimately I'd go for spellcaster ability (like the faerie dragon has). Imagine: a peasant with the spellcaster ability doing 66 damage each!.

Which wins 3 vamps or 4 ice d's?

Vampires, easily. They just use hit and run on the demons.

You have hero with adv cmb,bas melee,m resistance(no powerups,no artifacts). How many vamps you need to fight 5 phoenixes?

Well, if you're playing the AI, your hero will be slain at the first possibility anyway in spite of his combat skills. I can't say the exact number, but I do know that you will definitely win with 16 vamps. Because then, your vamps will regain health as fast as they lose it.

I also have a question. A behemoth has an attack of 36 and does 55-80 damage. How much damage (in %) will the strength ability of the behemoth add to that?

1.Correct
2.Sorry about this question ,I meant only gold so it will be about 1575(thunder - purse of penny piching)
3.4000*2=8000+10%=8800+10%=9680
4.I preffer life drain and area effect.
5.correct,altough good morale of the demons may change the battle.
6.This was a trick question.I only mention fight not win so you don't need any vamps at all.
About your question I don't know but I think is 20%

It's 0%! The strength ability is already processed in the creature stats of the behemoths. So actually, behemothes don't have a special ability. The same is true for zombies.

Which level 3 creature has the most hitpoints? (be careful!)

You cast 'hand of death' on a stack of gold golems. If it wasn't for their magic resistance, 12 would die. How many will die now?

The answers

You buy a level 1 hero straight from the tavern and you manage to defeat a neutral army of 50 halflings with it. What hero did you buy (skills, possibly spell) and how did you win?

You can only win this if you buy a druid (to the best of my knowledge) and are lucky that your druid is behind an obstacle. You need the summon leprechaun spell. Summon a stack of leprechauns to block the line of sight of the halflings, while casting luck with them on your hero. When the halflings have 8 shots left, let them shoot on your hero while summoning a stack of leprechauns to beat the halflings. When the halflings are out of ammo, your stack of leprechauns (with luck cast in them) can defeat them in melee combat.

Which level 3 creature has the most hitpoints? (be careful!)

The goblin knight! (expansion creature). It has 120 hitpoints.

You are trying to rob a graveyard guarded by 50 zombies. How many sprites do you need to succeed?

You need an army of only 1 sprite and start hit and run with that sprite. I wouldn't recommend it because it will take you a looooong time to win!

You cast 'hand of death' on a stack of gold golems. If it wasn't for their magic resistance, 12 would die. How many will die now?

Zero will die. Mechanical units aren't affected by 'hand of death' .

Which kind of magic can extinguish the 'plague' spell with one other spell?

Yep, only life can. Mass healing will dispel 'plague'.

Can elementals be affected by 1) confusion 2) song of peace or 3) wasp swarm?

Only by wasp swarm.

I thought of some questions recently, they are for grabs. Don't know who wants to answer them, but I find it fun making them. Here they come!

You are fighting two stacks of 500 mantises. Which 4th level spell will leave them utterly harmless by reducing their movement to zero?

In heroes 3, any dragon that was put in a skeleton transformer became a bone dragon. Has this feature survived in heroes 4?

Which spell will completely counter all of the following spells: animate dead, raise skeleton/ghost/vampire, death call? Is that: 1) dispel 2)banish 3) necromancy ward 4) holy shout/holy word 5) cancellate 6) exorcism 7) anti magic or 8) a holy water potion?

Dragon golems have the first strike and negate first strike ability. Against what creatures will they have no first strike (except for dragon golems)?

The mirth and bloodlust spell have something about its effects in common. What?

How many creatures can curse an enemy?
