^I don't understand why this image is so many kilobytes. Is there anyway to bring that down without resizing it?
Same problem with these, they also are really high in kilobytes and I don't understand why; they're not big or super detailed or anything:

Ok just to clear this up, JPEG usually gets better compression when there's less detail (note: NOT necessarily resolution!), also called "high frequencies" in the image -- edges and the like are considered sharp details, or noise etc...
Now how .gif or .png works it's a complete different story, so let's just leave it for now

It's pink.
Pink uses more bytes than other colours, that's a scientific fact.

When Val (the admin) uploads it. Usually he comes at the start of a month, so if there are no problems, he will upload your avatar soon.
Just check this thread from time to time so you can see when Val uploads your avatar.
