Hello, Xenophanes, Lupin,

I agree that..............wait......I DISAGREE that
Asylum will crush Academy.

Who says the good guy will always win ? In real world, definitely it is not the case. In homm, it is NOT as well. Think about h2 campaign. Archibald (forget about the spelling ) win if you choose it !

Yes, in h3 campaign, good guys win. (so I don't like h3 campaign ) If NWC makes Asylum will crush Academy, I would consider using campaign editor.

BTW, I don't hate dragons, but I like titan more.

MWAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!

You people are cracking me up. Yes there are NO TITANS(!), so ppllllbbbbbth!(insert rasberry)Heroes II is a thing of the past(I am NOT, however, dissing it), and for predictions as to what will happen in Heroes IV, I prefer to look to Heroes III. And, in Heroes II, you had a choice of who won. If it is like that in Heroes IV, ASYLUM CAN STILL CRUSH ACADEMY!!!! Also, If you have played the Armageddon's Blade campaigns, you will notice that King Roland Ironfist is in them. That means that Archibald could not have won, and, if you read Roland's full biography(In AB) on http://www.3DO.com, it says that he won the Succession Wars! So, Thunderknight, the thunder of the Titans(and Giants and Wizards and Academy) shall ring no more! MWAAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!

Having the buildings in the same spot in different owns just makes the time you spend in the town more efficient. The less time I spend in town the more time I spend in battle.

See this pic?  The lava pool will be for the Efreets.  I think the mushroom looking things in the bottom left are for the Troglodytes.  This is also the only pic I have found with that house in the bottom left.  I think it is for the Bandits.

The big eye thing is the Grail Structure I think.  And the little tower to the right of the Asylum Castle is a lookout tower.  That would help with the Fog of War!

Notice how there are more pics of the Asylum than anything else?  Everyone loves the Asylum!  Die, Titans, Die!  Hahahahahahahahaha!

The Tower next to the castle isn't a lookout tower, its a Captain's Quarters.

I probably scared folks off with that last post. But here is something that needs to be posted on this thread:

The Black Dragons are going to have 1100 HP and do 140-300 Damage! JVC used my idea for having Azure Dragons do at least a fifth damage as their Health, except this time it's on Black Dragons! The Titans are going dowwwwwwwwn! Gavin Magnus is gonna die! Let's see here, it's been a while since I've posted this, but here goes:

Gavin Magnus's gonna di-ie;
Bracada's gonna bu-urn!
The Academies will fa-all;
And Mutare will rule all!

Mordred is right !!!

Your intelligence is famous all around the woods, and your words are true.

90% of the time you are at home is spent either the Castle or the City Hall. Should I remember that Castle is a shortcut to the other dwellings? In that way, the beginners don’t have to memorize all the places of dwellings.

You know, I’m still impressed when entering a Dungeon, still wondered in front of a Rampart. And that’s because of fantasy : we-are-in-a-fantasy-game. In real life apartments are always identical, I hope not in Heroes...

All the Castles (even if they look nice...) seem to be copy-paste. The Portal of Glory will never more be surrounded by clouds.....Sniff....with the holy light through it.....

To support Mordred and RobinHood: I'm with you guys.
This game has already it's audience (a huge one if you ask me) so don't worry about begginers wondering in the castle to find the buildings (most of them you don't even have to know where they are). If he likes the game he will take the time... just as I did when I played h2 some years ago.I was atracted to the game by it's look and part of it's look is the castle screen. And stop worrying about playing long turns when on the net... I don't suppose you, some of the best players will play against beginners who look for buildings in the castle...
I say return to the previous way of building a castle: each one with it's style. And put a damn black sky over the Necropolis; don't they know the vampire can't stand the sunlight?

Me four. Not only is it not "atmospheric" but the graphics of Homm3 are already better. Take a look at the Dungeon castle, then take a look at the Asylum castle.... which makes you go "Wow" ???
Heroes 3 for me definetely. Not only is it not beautiful and artistic chaos (the colors are wrong and the sides are not balanced) it is also wrong because of certain things... like maybe EFREETS WOULDN'T LIVE IN SNOW FOR ALL THE GOLD IN ANTAGRICH!
Also the structures of Homm4 look very geometric and simple... not at all the intricate look of Homm3. What happened? How did the standard drop so quickly? If it is because of the format... ooh there'll be some butt-kicking... I hate how they all are cookie-cutter towns, and the buildings aren't even proportional. Grrrr... and look at that terrain! Fifteen minutes in a landscape generator and PLOP! comes out and PLOP! generic structures go on....

I want the 3do peoples to know that I am trying to make constructive criticism here... the game does not have the same "fairy tale" atmosphere that attracted me so much to Homm3... and it is not breathtaking nor is it fantastic beyond my wildest imaginations. I hope this will change... who knows, they might have just thrown it out of the window, and made a drastic change, but hey- this is the Altar of Wishes. I can only hope!

Well said, friends Pop & Darion

Another thing makes me scream : we’re not so close to the castle like in H3. I explain. In H4 castles, there are 3 levels. The city hall and the castle are too far. And they are so small (are they Darion ?).The distant view used in the castles makes you are a spectator & not an actor. It’s like you’re only here to visit. “Please look in in front of you the low level creatures dwellings, then the best dwellings....” “Do not touch, it’s well organized.”

Remember the Necropolis in H2. When you followed the way to the castle, you saw each dwelling before arriving to it (vampires, maccab, mummies...). That was impressive! There is in H3 some (useless) home were here to show you there was life in your castle (in the Rampart and the Castle for example). In the Rampart backscreen, there is a hill plus a forest plus a hill. In the Preserve, nothing.       I think these details may miss...

Just a word to vladpopescu. Don’t forget your sunglasses when you’ll play H4.

I fight for justice as you may guess. If justice still exists, someone will save us from tediousness !!!

Lith, if you know what happens to Mutare in Clash of the Dragons, please tell. So far I've heard she escapes Tarnum, but meets her fate by another...

I called her Mutare because, really, it doesn't make sense that she would change her name just because she changed her shape! Also, in the actual Dragon Blood campaign, when she becomes a Dragon, she is still called Mutare.

As for Efreets in snow, Antagarich gold, etc. - your groping at straws. Then how can an Inferno army march across snow at all?

Asylum still looks good, I dunno what you're complaining about...

Again.. I did not say it looks bad, simply that it is organized too well. If you ask me, when people build towns unless they are building all of the same houses they don't build their structures exactly the same size in areas that are the same distance from each other. (Thus, the tavern is not the same distance away from the blacksmith as it is from the church or something like that) and it doesn't look NATURAL.

Too geometric and clean... Stuff like rocks don't abruptly end as soon as you get out of the Dragon dwelling... it should blend in with the scenery. And as for groping with straws, I think that if you have a castle where demons from the fiery pits of hell live, it should damn well be hot where they live! Yes, efreet can fly in snow, but being creatures of fire I expect them to live in lava pits and fiery areas... not confined to a 30 square foot pool of lava. In short... the type of a castle should adjust the landscape, not vice versa.

And as for the gold of Antagrich and efreet... that was merely meant as a jest and as a little humor... ummm.. not to be taken seriously. And I am NOT picking straws... this is MAJOR stuff because I happen to like my castles to have a certain feel to it (dark and dreary, fiery and active, placid and quiet) rather than cookie-cutter stamped out.

OK, I'll wear my glasses, maybe some glasses for blind men, I really don't like what I see in those towns...you have all my support. You said it all, except this: hey, when someone (smart) builds a castle, maybe he'll think twicw before placing it on three rows of hills with almost no mean of communication between them - it's not an exposition, but a functional town.I had really high hopes for h4... and proportions too, a castle is supposed to be a lot bigger then a townhall, right?

You’re alright Vlad. And the tree of pixies is supposed to be a lot smaller. It is the biggest building in the Preserve… It’s such a pity that the castles don’t seem to be impressive in H4.

You were right about the weather in the necro town : it’s a nice sunset...cool. Are we in Miami or in the (supposed) most frightenning town? I really don’t know.

I wanted to know your feelings about mixing the inferno & the necro creatures (it could happen, as you may know). And your feeling about the venom spawn, wich I don’t like for now. What is it ? A plant, an abomination, nothing?

I see you on so much thread. I’m admiring, Vlad. Really. Don’t give up (& don’t care about MightyMage...). You had a very interresting conversation with Blue Camel about the necro creatures in H2 & H3. My favorites are those from H2 because of the mummies, but what you say was true too (about the sounds).

So long, evil Vampire. Take care.
